The Fillmore

It’s cold these days,
just ask a stranger,
saw a show tonight at The Fillmore,
Dave Chapelle with John Mayer,

Dave mentioned the show,
when I saw him at The SF MOMA,
John signed my Frieda poetry book,
that I got today from The SF MOMA,

how am I so in the In Scene,
yet at the same time such a Goner,

come on we’re,
trying to make Greatness,
so there’s no time for the Procrastinators,
and all of their lateness,

got Volume 2,
of The HH Trilogy,
coming soon,
5/5/17,

thought I’d put you on notice,

I’ve noticed,
they’ve noticed me,
more than they used to,
before The Trilogies,

came back to America,
from a few months in Australia,
now I find when I go out,
people recognize me,

not sure when it happened,
when my works became bigger than me,
all I know is it happened,
now people approach me like they know me,

“Haven’t I seen you before?”,

that’s a common one,
I guess I’m somewhere between,
Famous as Fck,
and quasi-obsolete,

I’ll probably be,
gone but not forgotten,
pardon me,
I’m lost it happens often,
caught up in the moment,
high off life and coughin’,
in the light trying to focus,
off my head and on one,

*******,
God blessed,
on with the show,
and off with his head,

and that’s cold,
cold as a guillotine’s steel,
cold as Chicago in the winter,
when it’s 20˚ below before the wind chill,

for real,

it’s cold these days,
just ask a stranger,
saw a show tonight at The Fillmore,
Dave Chapelle with John Mayer,

Dave mentioned the show,
when I saw him at The SF MOMA,

. . . go out into the evening,
leaving your room, of which you know each bit,
your house is the last before the infinite, . . .
(from Rainer Maria Rilke's "Eingang", MacIntyre translation)

The light which strikes my retina
as I look at the Great Galaxy in Andromeda
left there two million years ago.
(Hominids made tools from stone then, but had not yet
    learned the use of fire.
Genetic material from certain of these hominids has been passed
from one being to another and now is in my own body.)

Millennia from now, humans who have
colonized the farthest reaches of our galaxy,
laboriously creating and maintaining Earth-like atmospheres,
will marvel that there once was a place so perfectly suited to
    human life
that such labor was unnecessary. (Just as we marvel that orchids,
whose precise temperature and humidity requirements would seem to necessitate a greenhouse, grow wild in the Amazon.)

I cannot believe in a personal God,
intervening in human affairs, but stand in awe
of the terrible force which set the stars and galaxies in motion
--strewing them like so much confetti--;
the life-force running through each living creature,
as straight and true as a ray of light from that galaxy in Andromeda,
willing us to live, grow and be fruitful.

The worst illness available to man
Is not a fever of sorts
But fame
And the expectations stored within
That he has been solved
That he has been called by his true name
Which, ironically
Is never true at all

Because it's better to live in a house of wood
It's better to build without a name inscribed
Than to be called by all
And requested at all hours of the night
Because what then becomes of life?
When you suddenly have
All of that which you have wished for?
For he is not free
Mothers celebrated
Mothers gave us life.
They breathed into our lungs our first cry of existence.
Showers of praise to the years of giving that she has given us.
Such is Beauty. A sweet cake cut pieces from like a knife.
We owe to her respect
We honor her and mothers who have past
Through carrying on her legacy and messages
A magic energy forever cast.
As we celebrate on this day the honor that she deserves
All year long
Blessed are we to have her in our lives and in our hearts
A sweet love who had brought us in the world and she protected and directed us.
Cheers to her, the sweet and beautiful lady, forever celebrated in our hearts.

Still Down

Up late again,
wasn’t my intention,
had froyo with an old friend,
it felt like an intervention,

well then,
I admit I’m an addict,
but I’m also okay with it,
because I actually planned this,

to return to Hollywood,
to pay respects to my home town,
let them know that I’m way up,
but still always down,

up late,
with some fellow insomniacs,
no time for Judgers just good times with Lovers,
so high you hold me and we both catch a contact,

honest,
sonnets my Dear Watson all this is elementary,
we’re on this,
the evidence of our presence as medicine is self evidentuary,

eventually,
everything will be everything,
but until that time we’re on top of The Hill,
with songs that sound like ones that Heaven sings,

we see things,
way up here the wind is blowing,
the windows are rattling,
dogs bark lights out only the distant lights are glowing,

anyways what was the point of this poem,
maybe it was to give you insight so you’d lose your judgements,
maybe I don’t have I have a point maybe I’m just high,
maybe it doesn’t matter either way maybe not all art needs a subject,

I’m not your subject,
I’m not here for the amusement of the public,
I’m not here to talk about politics,
I don’t even want to discuss it,

I’m done with,
words that are only temporary,
either write them down or sing them loud,
life’s too short for for uncommitted commentary,

uncommitted to any passive adversaries is the reason why I haven’t married,
only Super Solid Honest Constants only the degree varies,

honest,
sonnets my Dear Watson all this is elementary,
we’re on this,
the evidence of our presence as medicine is self evidentuary,

and anyways,
yeah I’m high I’m writing my 7th book,
I planned this whole thing out,
then moved forward without a 2nd thought or look,

look,

up late again,
wasn’t my intention,
had froyo with an old friend,
it felt like an intervention,

well then,
I admit I’m an addict,
but I’m also okay with it,
because I actually planned this,

to return to Hollywood,
to pay respects to my home town,
let them know that I’m way up,
but still always down…

Don’t ask what time it is,
don’t ask what I think about the president,
do you understand this life you have is a miracle,
please let’s dismiss all the small talk,

you don’t have to tell me anything,
we can just be and do whatever we want,
maybe we’re Gods,
maybe we’re not,
we can be whatever we want as long as it’s honest,

and honestly,
usually when I’m out publicly,
and people are taking to me,
I see the words but I don’t hear what they’re saying,

people say I’m in my own world,
that I orbit my own planet,
shout to K. Dot from two Planets away,
see when it’s real we feel it,

I stand in front of thousands of people, and I don’t know them, but I do know you...

When I was ten years old I wanted to be in the Olympics, an athletes dream in front of millions of people I don’t know. But I know you.

I stood on the podium, a stage of glory and pride for my country, medal around my neck, as the national anthem plays through my ears I begin to remember that I was gonna be a soldier.

At 14 years old I told you I wanted a badge or a medal, a uniform to wear, and something to fight for. And here I am standing on this stage about to receive recognition for my job.

And 15 year old me standing on a stage in front of thousands of people, with a guitar strapped around my body. And I’m singing a song I wrote, and only you know why I wrote it. The secrets I don’t tell the public are told to the people I really do trust in this world.

And yet here I am on a stage in front of people I don’t know.

Do you remember? I told you that you didn’t need to be remembered by the whole world by putting your name on a star in the sky. The sky doesn’t need another star, but Earth has it’s own star with your name on it, and it’s you.

And you don’t need to be remembered by thousands of people to be happy, you just needed me to remember you when I stand here.

You asked me to never forget you if I ever became famous. And I’m not famous. But you should be, you’re the star remember. You believed in me, told me I was worth something, enough to be here on this stage. So why aren’t you here? You are worth remembering, so why don’t you want to be famous? Why don’t you want to be on stage? I have a constant fear of never being remembered and you don’t want to be that person. Why do you not want to be on this stage? I want you here. I need you here.

I stand on a stage in front of people. Most of them, I do not know. I don’t remember why I’m on the stage anymore… But I know that you’re proud of me for whatever reason that might be.

I remember saying some sort of speech to these people, and suddenly you’re here. I can see you in the crowd, and you’re smiling. You seem so happy to see me here, almost as if you were on the stage beside me. And I wish you were. But I know you don’t need to be remembered by these people, but I remember you.

And when my speech comes to a close I say this: “Thank you, to the star in life who never made it to the sky, I just want you to know in this moment. That we made it!
If I ever become famous, this can be proof that I predicted my own future.

Conceived In Hollywood

Conceived inside of Hollywood,
you have no idea what it means to be me,
and that’s not saying we can’t relate to basic things,
but honestly other than that we wear different rings,

we move in different circles,
we don’t lose our bets or virtues,
careful kid which path you choose,
because the Truth it can hurt you,

and that’s the true too,

see,

I was conceived,

inside of Hollywood,
you have no idea what it means to be me,
and that’s not saying we can’t relate to basic things,
but honestly other than that we wear different rings,

I’ve been assigned and equipped with a grand design by Thee Divine,

seriously I’m,
not telling you anything you don’t already know,
The Secret is that there’s no secret,
even though there’s a difference between backstage and front of show,

front of show shows shows to show off to the Masses wearing rose colored glasses,
meanwhile the whole time the action that’s happening backstage is outlandish I know,

those in the In Crowd conversating and communicating to conduct the energy flow,

In other words out there is where the soulless try and fill their empty shells with our energy,
and in here is where we build and learn and communicate to create everything for the show,

so,

what choice does that leave me with,
was initiated before birth,
see I’m more than a human I’m an idea,
I am the healing I am the hurt,

I am in line to have the last laugh even though my pole is first,

pole,
as in pole position,
should have to spell it out for you,
but sometimes you have to open up their eyes before they can see the vision,

my eyes are open as a wise old Owl perched upon a castle’s turret having visions,

this just in,
no News is news,
when,
you are Reality,

I was conceived,

inside of Hollywood,
you have no idea what it means to be me,
and that’s not saying we can’t relate to basic things,
but honestly other than that we wear different rings,

we know different people,
we do different things,
there’s very few who rule it’s true,
that’s not a mystery,

that’s not even a dispute,

that’s fact,
100% Truth.
