It's crazy how people transform us,
they change us and rearrange us.
We help, but they do most of the work,
whether it be with a smile, or a hand to hold.

If you look into someones eyes,
and you stare at them just long enough,
something clicks and fireworks fly,
it's a crazy thing, that word love.

No one can deny,
that feeling inside,
the butterflies,
when the stars align,
how good it feels,
just to be alive,
just to hold you tight,
hold you by my side,
and to call you mine.

No feeling is greater,
than that of love.

I)
They tell you that when you fall
it hurts less if you go limp before hitting the ground
release all that muscular tension
go spaghetti noodle loose
when you collide
no part of you will bear the full brunt of your error
I’m great at this
at risk of bragging, I would say I'm an expert

You see, I liked to climb as a child.  There was something cat – like inside of me that felt safe up high, safe where no one would follow.  The solitude kept me oh so vertically inclined.  But that wasn't my favorite feeling.

At age 10, I decided I would learn to skateboard.  Despite my mother's pleas, I returned day after day to my concrete proving grounds, eager to catch something.  At first it did not flee quickly, it wanted me hooked and oh my god, I was.  The more I learned, the faster I had to move to catch it, the more the wind became my adversary and the simple act of pushing off the hard ground made me feel.  The feeling itself was my coach, my carrot on a stick, and my reward all in one.  But that wasn’t my favorite feeling.

In high school, I joined the gymnastics team.  I found my peace in the moment of apex, the height of the swing, whole body poised, ready to go around one more time.  The only time in my life I’ve ever felt so shaped by fear, pressure, and pride.  That still was not my favorite feeling.

My favorite feeling was the moment the branch cracked underneath me.  The moment those hard little rubber wheels skrtchd so loudly.  When the floor didn’t pop quite right, or when the bar would wah-wah-wah-wah in protest as my grips pulled away.  These warning shouts, alerting the subject that in a few moments, they would be in one of two states:

1a)  folded like a pretzel, limbs aching, squirrel entertainment
1b)  spread across the pavement, butter on toast
1c)  a broken model, still clutching his 'control'

Alternatively:

2a)  laying in the damp grass, with nature
2b)  dizzy from rolling, exhilarated, mind on the 'next try'
2c)  finding comfort in the thin mats, wondering about their sanitation

That moment is a prompt, a call to action.  Most cant hear it, but the pop, the wah-wah, the crack and the skrtch all whisper beneath their warning the same message.  “Go limp”, they coo, “let go, give it up.  Release.”  And that moment, where my control is imagined anyways, is where I find my favorite feeling.  It is sinking slowly into warm, thick waters.  It is flopping onto the sofa after a long day.  It is being embraced by someone you love when you really just want to cry.

III)
At college I met this girl.  I'll spare you the details, but I want you to consider something.  Have you ever tried to carry someone who really, really did not want to be lifted?  I fell that hard, I went that limp, no matter how I hit the ground, I knew into something beautiful I would bounce.

IV)
I've spent months in mourning, no, I've spent months in a thick morning fog, no, I've spent months feeling nothing but numb each morning.  I've spent months letting all day be a morning in bed, I've spent months in morning.

I'm great at this, at the risk of bragging I would say I’m an expert.
It still feels like sinking, flopping, needing to cry, unadorned.
Here is to my last lasting hope, that something is made of the words that bubble to the surface.
A blank mind,
could ever be so fine.
Shine on,
Find others fond.
Let’s sit on my lawn,
watch the sky.
Oh my!
A shooting star,
so far away.
Everything will be okay.
Don’t think.
Just feel my heat,
and listen to my heart beat.

Light--fright!
A bump in the night.
Are you scared?
Get up & fight.
You have the might,
don’t you?
Get on your shoes,
this is your cue.
When it was mine,
I flew!
I had no clue,
how high I could go.
But if you stay low,
you will never truly know.
a poem written simply by looking at a blank screen and the words flew out of my mind onto the key board into the computer. A basic poem but hidden meaning for me.

Uncertainty fills the air
And suddenly I'm not so sure.
Nostalgia begins to decay
But why?
Heavy, heavier...
I inhale and sigh with, what, exasperation?
Creation?
These are all mere distractions
To prevent myself from colliding
With myself,
With how I feel.
Emotional trauma, Part I -
Coming soon to a childhood near you!
We laugh it off
But it does not leave us.
Nothing can leave us
As easily as you walked away
That night.
I will not forget what I saw.
Engraved in my brain
Causing me to crumble
Tumble, tumble...
**Crash.
The world is filled with division
Resulting in endless collision
Because we fail to envision.
We only use literal vision
Without a second of indecision
We jump to rash decision
And attempt to imprison
Those who caused the division
Without giving revision
To our lack of precision.
resulting in misprision
Which only adds to collision
And the terrible decision
To access our nuclear provision
In case you hadn't noticed, in a rhyming mood I focused. Haha too much?
The man in the moon
has a big conundrum
cause he can't always talk
to his good friend the sun
for he is tucked away,
kept out of sight,
for when the suns out
the moon sees the night.

There once was a time
he was part of the earth,
till a comet collided
for all it was worth.
The earth was surprised
with the immediate shock
and the loss of a massive,
great big piece of rock.

That great piece of rock,
far off it did zoom
from big brother earth,
now the man in the moon.
Every time
the sun comes to play,
the moons bigger brother,
'the earth's,' in the way.

His brother of course,
will pass messages on
but it isn't the same
as a chat with the sun.
But once in a while
the moon he can mix
with his good friend the sun
in a total eclipse.

When part of the earth
he saw the sun once a day
till that comet then crashed
and sent him far away.
But somehow they managed
their friendship to fix
and all with the help
of the total eclipse.

They get to catch up,
but not for too long
for they soon take there places,
go home where they belong.
The total eclipse
is a lifeline that ends
but for a short time it helps
puts together two friends
There is always a way to keep a friend!

i hydroplaned into a head on collision
how did i lose control?
i'm just a passenger
in a vehicle with a mind of its own
time may heal the damage
but never the memory
fate chose my destination
i just wanted to go home.

Here I stand on the intersection
Blocking every apparition
That appears before the collision
Of my unearthed passion

The debris it scattered
And the fragments it recollected
Did no good for our Russian Roulette
And my black dress that sweeped

Aiming blade to each direction
And shadow-chasing apparitions
Here I stand, on the intersection
With the devil’s spawn in front

The sinner angel on my left
The lost brothers of long-ago arts
And the mourning ladies behind in red
If I let my blade slip in front

Inferno is the runaway paradise prepared
Yet if I let my blade to my sides
Heaven hold no place for my stained black dress
And the mourning ladies in red

Have no colors that resembles mine
But that is just an extermination
That won’t even matter
For tragic is just a trapped magic

Tiny little planets
Spin aimlessly in their fixed orbits
Concerned only with what occurs on their own surface
As they travel blissfully oblivious to the worlds they go hurtling past on a daily basis

Until one day they look up
And notice another lonely planet passing close
And everything is forever changed
As gravity takes control

They are pulled closer and closer
Helpless but not wanting to be helped
They are drawn together until their surfaces touch
And their worlds collide in a flash of brilliance

The result can be the most beautiful thing they have ever experienced
*Or the most horrific.
