Oh No One Jan 2015
I can already feel the bullet on the roof of my mouth.
I can taste the metal.
It's just the blood that lingers.
Happenings wear down innocence.
Time withers smiles.
They say everyone grows up eventually,
They keep asking when I will.
I've always wondered why people ask questions they know the answer to.
I guess they need to hear someone else say it.
Maybe it's just not real until someone says it aloud.
Maybe you don't know you love someone until you lose them in a crowd.
I think that's the real test
Do you remember what they were wearing?
Do you remember what they look like?
How much time did you spend today looking at them?
It's funny how little you actually remember about someone.
It's funny how much you do too.
I don't remember my mother's birthday, but I do remember what you were wearing the day I met you.
I remember the way you looked up from your coffee and smiled.
I remember your eyes, and how they reminded me of tall evergreens stretching into eternity.
Anything seemed possible when your lips curled into a smile.
I could conquer the world when you curled into my arms.
Even your sighs sounded like they must have been written by some famous composer.
But I guess that's all just love.

You're a Friday night
You're a Sunday drive
You're the parts of life we can't compromise..

You've got a heart of stone,
You've got a promise of gold
You're the only one able to steal my soul..
You're not the one
I'm sorry to say
You've been there
You love me
But it's not the same

You're not the one
He's out there
Somewhere waiting for me
Just to find him
That's the problem

You're not the one
I want you to be
But I can't make the impossible
A reality
So is life

You're not the one
I'm sorry darling
I love you
Hold me close
While you still can

You're not the one
But we can pretend
Just for a little while
I'll give myself to you
I know you'll take me

Even though you're not the one

It's been 2 months
Since we parted
But we've been
Together for 2 years
It's probably warm
Where you are
But I'm still here
Recovering from
The coldness of
Your words
It's so hard to
Wait for closure
From someone like you
But you're worth it
So I'll wait.

You tell your kid to give the dog food and water. He mishears you and asks what moonwater is, and you fashion his mistake into a poem. ;)

you cannot stop staring
(he's only your mate)
-yes i've noticed the way
you've been looking of late-

like you want to enquire if
i'm at all aware
of the way the sun looks
in the threads of his hair,

like you're guilty and
he's taken you by surprise,
like the world's pushed you
forwards and
opened your eyes,

like you're scared of the
truth and you're scared of the
rest, and you're thinking that maybe
it's only a test.

but the fact that it's not is as
clear as cut glass (well tell that
to the woman who says it'll pass
)

i watch your eyes watch him-
and you look at me- like you're
wondering whether i know
what you see.

It's raining outside
and while I'm laying in my bed,
texting you

that's when I've realized

I really want you
to just leap out of the phone
and come cuddle with me

because I'm lonely,
and you are oh, so lovely.

You're skin and skin and skin-soft silky pale skin- and green eyes and red cheeks and sometimes I think I'm not enough for you because your hair is pink and my mom won't even let me have an ear piercing and you play in a band and I get yelled at for listening to music to loud. I just ******* hate that we are more alike than you think but you'll never know I could be the one for you because I'm too ******* afraid to go against the rules.
