Trees sway
As a slight breeze intertwines itself
With each solitary leaf
Reaching out like attenuated fingers
Touching each branch tenderly
Slowly passing by
Leaving a chill in its wake

You will find me
Motionless
Under the willow
Stirred only by the brooding thoughts
Of yesterday
A meaningless shadow of me
Like a leaf in the wind
I am unbound from all ties
Free to float into my deepest thoughts
Cascading slowly through them
As they envelope me
And lay me to rest

yesterdays are a day away
until more yesterdays arrive
and the old yesterdays go farther
and they turn to yesteryears
as new days come
and the first of yesterdays are all too far away
because time is a silly little thing
and we look forward to better days

Memory movies
Little flickers of thought
Of what happened before
About the fish we caught
When Dad and I, together
Went by ourselves to a stream.
We spent the day together
It feels rather like a dream.

Memory moments
Of wonders I have seen
And what they have become
And what they came to mean.
Suddenly recalling back then
Someone I had totally forgot.
Some people stay friends
But sometimes others do not.

Memory music
Seemed to choreograph time.
There were songs playing then
And in a way, they kept time;
The drumbeat to life’s march,
We kept right up with the beat.
It went with us everywhere, then
In our school, home and the street.

Memory maybe
But it’s part of who I’ve become
Today compared to yesterday
Some things are better, and some
Are never going to top them
Those days of bright discovery.
So, I let those memory movies,
When they show up, come cover me.

Yesterday.
This was me
With some caffeine
Addicted
Not good for my health
Worrying about my worries
Creating more worries and
My feelings
Spiralling outta control
Today
My head is going places; it is
Seeing things I shouldn't see
The wheels of time, spinning me around
Yet I'm not irrational
Far from it
Then why am I confused?
There's no better way to be
I look into your eyes
Great, and all I see is nothing
All the things I don't know
Like rest of mind and peace
These are the things I would love to have
Tomorrow.

If yesterday
Was but sand upon
A long abandoned shore
I'd wash away jagged
Memories of which it
Created.

The day we hoped to fix things
The day we would make it right.
The morning we would wake up
And teach the world to love the night.
Yesterday was not an enemy
And tomorrow was our friend.
We would build a world for everyone
And that world would never end.

Yesterday we woke up early
And got a jump start on the day.
We ran or jogged and exercised
And tried out life a different way.
We ate the food we thought healthy
And avoided those we called junk.
We chose to grab life with both hands
And drag it out of the bottom bunk.

Yesterday we started to insist
That people say what they mean
And talk with us about feelings
Not stuff from movie magazines.
We began to demand humanity
And ecologically-minded choices.
We took advantage of the strength
That could be had in our voices.

Yesterday we marched and yelled
To let our brothers and sisters be
Whatever they are and who they are
Without scorn and without penalty.
We joined our local groups and said
They needed to act accordingly
To the rights of every human being
And to implement total equality.

Yesterday we thought of tomorrow
And today we have to do the same.
Human rights and a peaceful planet
Must not be just a hopeful name.
Greed and lust will only prosper
If we back down when we are faced.
Freedom of choice and equal rights
A basic needs we can’t replace.
George Krokos Feb 2016
All of our yesterdays will never equal all of our tomorrows
because the past has come and gone with all of its sorrows.
The future then holds in store whatever joys can be achieved,
if we find the key to unlock the door for them to be received.
The present is the time for one to take the necessary steps
in doing what one needs to do while keeping free of debts.

There’s nothing that lasts forever we can be certain of this
except the divine spirit in our soul that is of heavenly bliss.
When the moment comes that one most expects in their life
Providence will so turn things around and remove the strife;
with which one may have been struggling for quite a long time
and it will seem like it has vanished without leaving any grime.

We should all therefore have some faith in good things to come
of which we have a cherished desire for and aren’t troublesome.
All we need to do is to visualise in our mind the things we desire
as long as we don’t get involved in those burning with hell’s fire.
For those things we have a need of will most surely come our way
if we ask for them sincerely from That One Who creates each day.

Let's laugh the night away
Forget the sorrows of today
Again tomorrow the sun will rise
And it won't be a surprise
That our friendship will stay
As golden as it was yesterday
Bye, for now

I remember yesterday.
The morning birds notes gleefully played.
I remember yesterday.

I remember yesterday.
The brightest morning there was seen,
And yet there was no sun to beam.
The wispy air and tired eyes,
The devotion we all strive and try.
My God, Selah.
I remember yesterday.

I remember yesterday.
The day less fatigued from creaking souls.
A new perception, new sights, and new goals.
Classes flying, life goodbye-ing.
Joyous day filled without even trying.
I remember yesterday.

I remember yesterday.
The jokes he told.
Simply comedy gold.
The smile he gave.
Mentality leaping from a grave.
I am renewed and alive.
I can't wait to see him and thrive.
I remember yesterday.

I remember yesterday.
Two laughs blended to a familiar tune.
Those girls brought me hope, and good fortune.
To see them laugh, and smile;
So hard, so deep, it's been a while.
My sun and moon and stars above
The pattern of their love.
I remember yesterday.

I remember yesterday.
Yet yesterday is yanked from possibilities.
Only reminiscing in soliloquys.
Pointless to wish for it reoccurring.
Now for new memories with a base for ushering.
But I will always remember yesterday.

Who amongst us is not
Shaped by our past some way?
Much of it best forgot,
Mistakes made on the way.
Though it taught us a lot
It's important to say:
What we were matters not,
But what we are today.
