to be seen within
unknown eyes that feel like home
hearts wanting love

I was made to believe I could always improve.
Of course I assumed that meant others could, too.
Because why would we want to remain stagnant?
We live each day like fragments we hope will attract like magnets
And piece into the picture-perfect paradox we call life.

We are driven by this horribly humane curiosity
Accelerating to increasing velocities,
Until we inhibit our ability to realize when enough is enough
Lost in the instilled thoughts that manipulate our emotions with their bluff,
That we should never settle.

But never say never.
As cliches turn into ever-present moments,
We learn that striving is only a component of who we are.
Because if we keep chasing a limit that keeps rising
We’re only chastising a perfectly acceptable being.

Like a cigarette pressed against wrinkled lips,
This vague mantra is a hidden temporary fix.
One that ignites so easily and makes sense to the brain
But never quite knows when to seize it’s reign.
Because no parent has ever told their child when to stop trying.

We fall under control of our own mentalities trying to push us further.
But when can we put the pressure on the back burner?
And try to accept who we are
Before we accidentally discard
A perfectly adequate being.

Sometimes a friendly reminder to advance is taken out of hand.
But my hands have been fidgeting with rings until I brand their bands with indents.
Ones that burn through my skin and leave the memories of closed fists.
The fear of loving where we are or who we’re with should not exist.
For when you’ve exhausted all your happiness and have wilted to your last petal,
I will be flourishing still, for I have learned to settle.

Walk on as I dream,
With the dirt in your eyes,
You think your a lucky man,
But you never tasted my love,

Conceal your heart,
Lie to your pain,
Light that smile across your face,
'Coz your a big man now,

Hide your truths in your notebook,
Take them out accompanied by a riff,
Dress up your demons as an Artistic gift,
Like the big man you are,

Pocket your questions,
Hold onto your desires,
Allow only one to breathe,
The desire not to hurt.

I'm that friend
Who you ask to the mall
On those weekends
Where it's so nice
And sunny
That everyone's at the beach.

I'm that friend
That you walk home
With
On days
Where everyone else
Has mountains of
Homework.

I'm the friend
That you ignore
When they text you
Because they're so
THICK
That they're
Too stupid
And
Desperate
To take the hint.

I will never be your first choice.
But I can settle for last.

If it means
Going to the mall
With you
On those weekends
Where it's so nice
And sunny
That everyone's at the beach.

If it means
Walking home
With you
On days
Where everyone else
Has mountains of
Homework.

And if it means
Getting that one text
Saying that
You
"Have to go"
And you'll
"Ttyl."

I'll settle for that.

Fishermen do not cast their nets hoping for anything;
Why do you?

I believe that once upon a time we all did have a soul mate.
Then people started ruining it.
7 billion people in this world,
and you have never left your town.
You really think you found your soul mate there?
You didn't.
You settled.
With someone else's soulmate.
So then that persons soulmate had to settle for someone else as well.
And took another persons soulmate.
See a pattern?
People don't believe in soul mates until they find them.
I promise you won't find them in a town of 300 people.
Get out and live your life.
Explore the world.
Find who you are meant to be with.
Stop settling with someone that you love.
You can love anyone.
Find the one that you are in love with.
There's a big difference.

Move me
Fast through the winding roads
The tumbling winds
The deepest valleys
And the highest peaks

Settle me nowhere

Move me
Across fields of gold
Azure skies
And silver linings
Because no one
Drew a line I would not cross

Settle me nowhere

Move me
Pick me up and throw me
Over the sleeping bodies of water
And the restless hearts of the sands
I am closing my eyes now

Settle me nowhere

Move me
Weave me
Within the greenest trees
Tousle my hair
When the ride gets too calm

Settle me nowhere

Move me
Let the skyscrapers scrape sky
Let the towers tower
Let the roads twist and turn
And let houses be houses
Because I am not far from my own

Settle me nowhere
Until the rain patters
And the beach plays with sand-less shores

Settle
Me
Nowhere
Until I am home

Taking your words out of your chest
I know you got it in for me
We should break the tension

The floor that you’ll land

Wish me luck cuz you know I’m going to get you
We’ll have a *******: you, me and my fist
Could you consider not having me fooled
I’m going to be a **** star and use your name
People will think it’s you so prepare to be embarrassed
Oh you won’t fool me again

I settle for pain instead of happiness,
and sink myself in the abyss of darkness.

I settle for the lack of conversations,
and rather not voice what I want to say.

I settle for the winter than the summer,
where I cave myself in my own comfort zone in blues.

I settle for indies than dynamic music,
for songs describe me for who I am.

I settle for the silence and surrender,
and hope to be buried 6ft under ground.

I settle for death,
for being alive is too painful and I'm barely breathing.
