Let's be 100 here.
You could be the most loyal
the most caring
the most attentive
the most attractive
the most affectionate
You could be one making all the efforts
the one spending the most time
with your 'investment'
...and in the end,
that person STILL walks away
Don't be questioning yourself
wondering where you went wrong
or what you could of done better
wondering if there was anything else
you could have sacrificed to keep them around

You are worth FAR MORE than that
Don't devalue yourself and feel like you're
missing something, that you absolutely need them
Don't beg to keep them around, let them go
Being loyal doesn't make you stupid -
but being loyal to someone whose walked
away IS stupid
In life, people come and go, but I've learned
that when the time is right, you will gain
something better

So I say when you see reality's hand raised,
welcome the slap
Wake up, move on and clap
Reflecting on past mistakes...
And man, am I better off without such people in my life.

Everything hurts more in the cold
The sting from vibrations of the baseball bat when the ball meets the shallow metal
The aching joints in every ugly, abused finger
The wind slapping the face of every poor man in his pursuit of shelter
The lonely nights spent in the bedroom, with a sock in hand, imagining the warmth of a woman
The curve of every shot thrown at a cloud ruthlessly passing by
The memory of the tears she shed when I told her goodbye
Everything hurts more in the cold

I'll remember our love
When I forget all else
You'll surely never fade

When all light's extinguished
Our love will still shine
Turning night to day

When everything ends
Nothing more remains
But this imprint of you and I

I'll one day rest in peace
But this love will live on
Long after the day I die

So long ago, the soldiers fell,
A raging war we cannot tell.
In our hearts, they each will dwell,
The poppies will tell us that all is well.

Fighting, hurting, to reach this day,
For what is now, we thank and pray.
For laughing children, happy and gay,
In memories from us, they will always lay.

So for this, we wear a single red flower,
That show they died for what's rightfully ours.
How they lost their numbers, hour by hour,
Their loyalty was, indeed, a great power.

So long ago, the soldiers fell,
A raging war we cannot tell.
In our hearts, they each will dwell,
The poppies will tell us that all is well.

i remember,
it was always like
that between me and
you
Remembrance into our respective pasts,
Gloss over our eyes whilst our perspective drifts apart.

I hold my hand o'er the candle to remember the flame.
I toss myself from the roof to feel the flight again.

The rainsoaked flame wanders through my bones,
My home,
My dampened heart keeps burning.

the moments that I see before my eyes before I die
are most important.

just think about that for a second, if you don't mind.
----------------------------------------------------
once you've signed the death agreement
and taken in the light, before the total darkness . . .
they say, a movie plays that's just for you.
a movie about you, made by you.

pause, right here, for another second, if you don't mind.
----------------------------------------------------
when movies play, they do not include
the entire lives of those that are portrayed.
they include the pieces that tell the story the best.

now, let us continue.
----------------------------------------------------
and, when this movie plays - the movie that was
made for you, by you -
it does not last for seconds, minutes, hours,
days, weeks, months, years, like your life did;
it lasts as long as you can remember.
and memories die, so . . .

pause, once more for me, please, if you do not mind.
---------------------------------------------------
memories die. if you do not think
about the times that you've had.
the times that you lived and you laughed,
the times that you cried,
the times that you felt . . .
if you do not remember the past,
you will only be left with the present.
just think about that.

and, then, we'll proceed to the end.
--------------------------------------------------
. . .remember each moment again and again
and again. and, when your life's movie is starting to end. . .
you'll be satisfied and able to go home in peace.
but, until then, please . . .

just remember each moment.

The clerk behind the coffee counter,
she stares out the window
onto the sunny street, lost in thought.
Her half smile on that young face
is an art exhibit of a daydream
about a possible future.
An old woman at a nearby table,
she stares out the same window.
Her eyes glossed over,
they indicate she's remembering
the good moments long past.
The coffee shop daydreamers
have much in common.

I have to remember. I have to remember
this. for as long as I can. for forever.
I have to.   I cant let this go.   I cant let this feeling

                    go.

You
The sky is so beautiful an night.
It’s all so transcendental.
I can’t look at the moon without thinking of you.
The stars smile a bit brighter.
The water leftover on the pavement from this evening’s rain glistens and plays in the cool air that has overtaken the space around me.
The breeze sings a song that I swear I’ve heard you sing before.
It’s overwhelming but calming at the same time.
It’s strange how I can be far from you, but still feel your arms wrapped around me.
I’d like to imagine you are sitting on the sidewalk staring up at the same moon as I am.
Each of us floating in the black abyss surrounded by the white light of our lunar keeper, while she tends to her children on earth.
Lighting up our eyes and hearts, telling us to remember when, and let our hearts be staid.
