Desdemona
by Michael R. Burch

Though you possessed the moon and stars,
you are bound to fate and wed to chance.
Your lips deny they crave a kiss;
your feet deny they ache to dance.
Your heart imagines wild romance.

Though you cupped fire in your hands
and molded incandescent forms,
you are barren now, and—spent of flame—
the ashes that remain are borne
toward the sun upon a storm.

You, who demanded more, have less,
your heart within its cells of sighs
held fast by chains of misery,
confined till death for peddling lies—
imprisonment your sense denies.

You, who collected hearts like leaves
and pressed each once within your book,
forgot. None—winsome, bright or rare—
not one was worth a second look.
My heart, as others, you forsook.

But I, though I loved you from afar
through silent dawns, and gathered rue
from gardens where your footsteps left
cold paths among the asters, knew—
each moonless night the nettles grew

and strangled hope, where love dies too.

The lit fuse of her lips touching off
A din in the black powdery night:
Illumined and immolated am I.

I want to write POEMS on your SKIN with my LIPS.

LET THE INK HIT THE GROUND.

I Want to write POEMS on your SKIN with my BREATH.

LET THE INK HIT THE GROUND.

I Want to write POEMS on your SKIN with my SKIN.

LET THE INK HIT THE GROUND.

Your lips.
They're really pink-red,
Kissable.
Bite your lips,
Give me those eyes.
Place your hands upon my hips.
You know what to do

Let's let the world flow away
in the breeze of evening day
Singing at the top of our lungs
Shuffling through fields and crumbling stones

This love
A touch in the bittersweet air
Forever remembering
the feel of your lips on mine
No matter the time

side by side
books on the slide
a great time to hide
an afternoon not that mild
but thoughts run wild
hands ready to touch
lips too wet to vouch
how our connection reacts
how great the impact
the affection
the attraction
my skin
your hands
why can't you say
tell me now
tell me how
tell me
yell
WE
