More stars than sounds and words,
Though they were spoken into existence.

Billions of stars and galaxies,
It's not about us.

Like a fruit salad in the universe,
The Planets in a bowl.

The heavens declare His glory,
The stars are a small taste of it.
The heavens declare the glory of God.

It’s a shame to me,

to witness what’s become of the culture that raised me.

We’re sold on what was preached as good advice.

“Shoot for the moon because even If you miss, you’ll be amongst the stars.”

But see I feel that statement could use some clarification.

Our eyes glisten from the brightness of the so ever infinite beauty,

but what if I told you that beauty was the cause of my pain?

What if I told you that the real moon's right here on planet earth?

There’s 7 billion galaxies right in front of us, going unseen.

What If I told you the term “Shoot for the moon”,

really meant shoot for someone’s heart,

not the one that reigns above us from afar?

There’s the most beautiful galaxy,

nestled beneath the skin of someone

who’s so lost they don’t sleep.

The stars within are cloaked

by the clouds of their depression, Also insecurities.

Waiting to be the butterflies that dance to the rhythm of your heartbeat,

waiting to be your favorite twinkle in her eyes.

Waiting to show you a new color you notice when she smiles and,

that will be your new favorite color.

So If we’ve lost sight of the galaxies within our life,

all because they weren’t visable as hope in the dark night sky.

How long until we lose sight to those too?

I've heard many jewels and gems
Flow out of your lips but
My favorite one of all those treasures
Is this simple, tiny pearl:
This word

Perspectives

A beautiful word that fell on my listening ears
On one of those countless,
Yet no less precious Friday nights
Huddled together in a small group made up of giants

Though I try
I can't recall what the topic was on that certain evening
But that word stayed with me
like postage stamps on love letters
Because for me,
That word best describes you

Perspectives
I see it in the photographs
you take so carefully
With those crafty fingers
You capture novels
with those simple objects and moments
You are an artist and a story teller

Perspectives
I feel it in your tight embrace
Your arms that are ever open and welcoming
And darling,
I'm beyind happy and thankful
That through the long and wild years
Your arms never became weary
In holding on to me

Perspectives
I see it in your smile:
A constant overflow from your heart
It's engraved on your lips and
No hot and tiring day or cold and dark night
Can ever wear it away
Because
I know well that
Hope Himself has made your heart His home
And He has set to flame galaxies
In your bright and burning eyes

Sarah
This air you breathe
Gets exhaled as some sweet aroma
With the rise and fall of your lungs
I'd be lying to call you unique because
That's a mere understatement
Your very being
Spells "different" differently

As you enter this new year,
This new leg in your journey,
Please do continue to splash
Color on the lives of others
As you dance with the Father
And may your eyes continue to reflect
The beauty of Creation
And the glory of the Creator

Always remember that I am with you
Through hilltops and valleys
And stormy skies and summer days
Together
We can turn this world upside-down
And see it,
Give it
A different

The universe behind your eyes bursts at the seams
And inside you hide in unnamed galaxies
You wish to speak of the wisdom of trees
You want to talk about the calm of seas
A momentary distraction is all you need
To turn the voices down, to live a silent dream
It fills up your mindscape with high-def imagery
A 42-inch flatscreen TV.

you were my favorite
kind of 2am.

your violent breaths
smelled of cigarette smoke
your slurred words
spoke of theories in faith
your deep set eyes
swam in seas too blue

you ****** me harder
than *** ever did.
you smothered me in your supernovas
bathed me in your milky way
shaped me in each galaxy
fabricated me into your lunar eclipse
outshining every evening drop

i know your kind, darling.

radiate. stagnate.
soulmate. illuminate.

he was the kind of boy her mama always warned her about
eyes full of mischief and words full of deceit
but, oh God, when he spoke it was as if the clouds would bow to him
& the mountains would crumble in his presence
the way he cocked his brow and gave her that sultry smile
sent her round and round as if she was on a never ending ride

he was like a bottle of sweet poison
addicting, even though it's bound to **** you in the end
she knew she'd never be able to look at him and see her future
but she saw in him her present and a world left unexplored
she knew how much she would be giving up
if she died without knowing if the lips which spoke the sweet words
tasted as good as the words themselves
she knew she would never be at rest in her grave
if she never felt the melody in his body combine with her own symphonies
running her hand down his spine, discovering the mysteries often left unsolved
she knew she would regret it if she let him open her book and read her
but a greater loss would be if she never read his

& so she gave in.

his eloquence was her personal brand of *****
and tonight she was intoxicated all the way up to cloud nine
his body in the moonlight was like crystal under the sun
she just couldn't look away
his nails carved words of wonder in her back
and his mouth tattooed poetry between her thighs
it felt to her as if the words he etched words on her body
were even better than those spoke on the stage beneath the spotlight

with eyes full of mirth and wonder
she looked at him like he was the only star in the night sky
no,
boys like him were beyond stars
*boys like him were galaxies

at first you were a flicker in the chasm of the skies
just one, amongst many thousands: sparkling, twinkling
but you drew closer and I saw, a curiousness in your eyes

the butterflies you made me feel at first soon flew away
Drowned by the vast earth-shattering waterfalls, that trickle down my spine,
and make our talks taste different every day.
I feel your universe, grows ever nearer mine...

And then: the galaxies collide. How bright we shine!
The stars- so nice together! the nebulae exchange
Their secrets in hushed melodies, you freely rearrange
My constellations. Paths never meant to intertwine,
And yet- your universe, grows ever nearer mine.

But you pass through, you leave my stars,
my constellations. No. Not even gravity would dare confine
Your galaxy, deserving life that’s free of any bars
And yet-where is that universe, that passed so close to mine?!

And I look up, and you’re a flicker in the chasm of the skies,
just one amongst the many thousands: sparkling, twinkling...
as you draw further, I recall infinity I once knew in your eyes.

There was an orb up the nimbus sky
Jelly, translucent
Absorbing everything that bumps
As it becomes bigger and bigger
Consuming the world...
Afloat in galaxy,
Consuming the stars...
Wallowing planets, comets
Errr... Jupiter's rings!
Black-holes!
Sun, not the moo-                      n
Devouring the whole milky waay--
The  U  N  I  V  E  R  S  E !
Enormous. Colossal. ORB. Emerged!
Oh! Us, Witnessing the outside of galaxies
Only pure light, OBLIVION.
As the orb, like bubbles BURST!             tck.
Reaching TERMINUS.

And that's how everything'll.
**END.
(I was inside the orb witnessing how everything was absorbed,  floating in oblivion, and as it burst, I woke up)

My adoration for you is like gazing into the sky at dusk. At first, your eyes are sunsets, blazing with passion and colorful possibilities. They transform into deep colors, blush fading into vibrant purples, and I see undeniable love. Then instantaneously, eyes that were once magnificent become dark. Still beautiful, but a boundless Galaxy of stars that are far beyond my reach. A mystifying scene, an unexplored realm.

When my heart hung in the stars
I'm convinced
my better parts got lost
on the dark side of the moon.

the doctors say I'm dreaming
but I could swear to you
that the man on the moon is crying
asteroids and wilted flower petals.

we revolve around the same sun but
our revolutions although
intertwined, are chasing
different horizons longing for unfamiliar faces.

the stars are in my eyes
but it will take years of staring into
broken mirrors before I find the planet
that my smile resides on.
I don't really know about this one. I wanted to try something a little more abstract. Please please please leave feedback, I want to do everything I can to mature as a writer.
