everything is temporary, so enjoy it while you can.
2. life is too short to spend it worried and anticipating the right moment. you won’t always have time in life to make the right choice and that’s always okay.
3. your body is beautiful the way it is.
4. no one cares how big the fish is until it’s out of the water.
5. feelings hurt so so much but they also feel so so good and they make life worth living, although they often do the opposite.
6. i learned how to ask for help and it was the best thing i’ve ever done.
7. but i still never learned how to say no.
8. if i was given the chance i don’t know what i would have done.
9. your friends aren’t worth your life but they are worthy of your heart.
10. everything is difficult, but nothing is impossible.
11. doing half of your work is better than doing none at all.
12. falling is the most blissful thing in life.
13. the thing that frightens me the most is death, the fact that i will cease to exist, the fact that i will never see any loved ones or anyone again, the fact that i know nothing about it.
14. in a world of temporary things the only permanent things come from your heart and mind. ideas are more valuable than things.
15. loving yourself makes the world seem impossibly big and beautiful and makes life easier to live.

There is a certain gracefulness
in falling to your doom.
As all the broken things surround you,
as all the lost things keep you
from the dark.

And there
in the Dark,
is a place
where shadows call home.

Forty yards from Haribo Heaven,
They took flight,
Mocking the clouds of traffic:
Faster and faster,
Faster and looser,
Faster and freer.

But then the Saxon ground
Came out in revolt,
Saying
Their covenant with gravity had been violated.

All sound was muted.

Heads struck at thirty-three yards;
Backs cracked the soil at thirty.
In his heart,
It was her finger that he felt,
Arching over the G string of her violin,
Like the neck of a flamingo.

He mused:
After the sound came back,
Would she play a gigue or a dirge
To accompany
This ignominious moment?

When her sullied, muddied, mossy eyes looked away from him,
To her, had he become a lesser man?

Faster and faster
Faster and looser.

Had she now glimpsed a father’s struggle
To piece together what he thought he knew?

Over time,
I’ve been building my castle of love
Just for two
Dreaming and thinking of you
Over dreams,
I have picked out a come true
Pouring the precious I hold into the walls
Though I haven't met you, yet
I was seeing you exploring the spaces where I bended
Lifted every stone; tilted my head picturing the perfect decor
Lying beside you listening to our quiet thoughts
We'd have a taste at our never ending love
Over time,
I’ve waited far too long
Enchantment of us slipping quietly out the gates
Making room for a truth stronger than the fantasy
A perfect come true
Just for one, undeterred by solitude
Over hearts, I've searched to discover the love I long for
The love that I sought was always mine
It was always here, confined
Within me, for me
Gazing into my eyes, I see the dream
The beautiful and the flawed
My love, my unconditional love
Over loved, overjoyed, over me
And though the odds seem improbable
For in romance anything is possible
Maybe with a chance too
You’ll find me
And you too might be overjoyed, over loved, over me

a wicked, unrighteous child's mind
lies closer to the truth
than a noble graybeard's ever will &
here is that only, hideous verity:
death has the body of a boy.
an ocherous-haired boy, sylphlike,
unearthly, peerless and
other word to forbear from writing 'beautiful'.

guiltless people do not know that.

'irradiating one, let me hold you', he says,
and i let him. i can recall swearing,
palms pressed together and liquid lungs
settled at the bottom of a bathroom sink,
never to allow to be eaten again
because that is what holding someone is for;
(guiltless people do not know that.)

be that as it may,
i let him.
forgiveness was never
suited for me, anyway.

there can be no fallacy;
no fraud can remain a fraud
once they are birdlimed
by a fire-stricken embrace.
a mindless prey is what they become.
a devourer is what he always was.

guiltless people do not know that.

my eyelids will not yet sink over my pupils,
not until his hidden claws,
ribboning and shredding their way
out of his unsoiled skin, turn
my neck into bloodbath,
my heart into maelstrom.

what a blessed, glory-driven way to meet death.

I heard you
screaming without any words

I felt you
thinking you were walking all alone

I tasted
your chance given to me to come into your life

I looked at us
while we were falling in love
You can probably catch me

The fall was easy.
my heart had longed for you.
Loving you,
you loving me
came so naturally
Losing you was hard
watching you slip away
and there was nothing
I could do to make you stay.
I guess some things
aren’t meant forever
not everyone
gets a fairytale ending

Once upon a paper thin rim
Tipping this way and that
Only to sway too far
Slipping over the delicate border
Between what is known
And the possibilities that lie beyond

Wind whistling past
Hair flowing wildly like ribbons
Lost in a summer breeze
Limbs extended upward
Reaching hopelessly for anything
Anything at all to grasp
End the great descent
Into the abyss

Just a simple word into a poem.
Chrissy Delaney Jan 2021
I'm afraid of heights
Actually, I'm afraid of falling
And nobody wants to hit the ground

But riddle me how
You get me so high
And I'm falling so fast
But I'm so grounded with you?

And if I feared nothing making sense
My fear is right in front of my face
