The world split in half
And on each end were lovers
The sun and the moon
Again and again
They chased each other
For days
Weeks
Months
Years
Decades
And only on certain occasions would it seem they passed closely

A day where the moon passed in front of the sun
We saw the earth go dark
Only for moments
And the silence we shed in awe
Aligning of the sun around the moon
And just like that
It went away again
The sadness they cried
Knowing they had to await another shortcoming while chasing the shadows of each other
But they still belonged together
Like yin and yang

We watched the sun dip below
When the moon began to shine
Looking meek it said goodbye
Time too short, time they seek
Again they wait
Years
Months
Weeks

Last-night
there was an eclipse;
But not of blood orange
shadows
draped on a dazed moon.
No.
'twas of my blood red
pulsing heart
accepting its solitude
in the shadow of yours.
Natalie Hart Nov 2014
The moon was a cold body that lived in the empty night
The sun was a warm ray that filled the world with light
They both lived in solitude, the sun sending her warmth and the moon existing in nothing
All they know is their own orbit and comfort
And on the rare days that they meet, they collide and fall in love
They fill the other with what they've been missing
And watching them burst and make love is spectacular
The passion is short lived and when they separate they fall apart
Forgetting what they're meant to live for
The sun keeps on burning and the moon keeps on glowing
Slowly the moon forgets about the sun and the gleam of her face
For every night there is only darkness and pale reflections to keep him company
And the sun forgets what it is to be calm and still
The void and longing for each other keeps them pulling until they meet again
They beat on, lonely and eager and searching for the one thing that brings them solace
The soft embrace of love, the thing that pulls the tides in and out on the shore
The thing that fills the streets and mountains and valleys with golden radiance
It is love that carries blood through fragile veins and it is love that guides two hearts together
It is love that drags the moon from its perch above earth and aligns it with the sun
It is love that tears them apart with a cruel and swift hand
The sweetest pain and the hardest goodbyes amount from love
When nothing good lasts and nothing bad ever fully goes away
The love that flows between two opposite entities is enough

Written words of thoughts redacted
about the glimmer of light refracted
in you.

I see the sun in your eyes
Burning, warm, and full of life
with the faintest hint of an eclipse,
a wonder for all to behold,
your eyes look to another.

And yet,
and yet I still look into the sun,
not caring that it blinds me,
for all I want to see...
is you.

This cancerous crush consumes me.
Like a cigarette addict,
I just can't get enough.
It kills me, but I don't care.

I want you to drink me in,
but I'm a taste you haven't acquired.
I want to be your muse,
but I leave you feeling
less than inspired.

I am a violin, and you, a virtuoso
that can play my notes perfectly.
But, you've composed your ballad
for the viola.

And I sit here alone, playing a requiem,
mourning the loss of a love
that will never be.

My heart at times
feels like empty skies
devoid of suns and stars.
Painted with clouds,
All the blue thrown out.
Like a slate wiped clean.
Sometimes you feel so much,
that you can feel
no more.
Not cleansed, not neat, not free.
You become
Empty.
In a very weird mood.

Red lips
Bright eyes
You're my everyday eclipse
A celestial body obscuring other guys

With you
There is no other
The skies may be blue
But with you, it's full of thunder

Sparks fell
Traveling through
Every nerve; every cell
Feelings of love imbued

Celestial you
For you are like a gift from heaven
Supremely good; Forever true
My valuable possession

Do you now see
How much I am in love with you?

You eclipsed me like my moons,
In melted darkness I lie.
Suns gave away sheer,
My  lights gold you stole,
In Satined darkness,
your eclipse holds.

You eclipsed me like my moons,
Silver love you shined.
Cold whispers on curtains lingered,
Dusk you bring unto my eyes,
Here you eclipse,
in silence I sigh!

You eclipsed me like my moons,
I smell lilies bloom on my sheets.
Lifting the eclipse you,
You rise to leave,
Promising new suns you would,
again set in my eyes....

You eclipsed me like my moons*....
Spending thousand suns and moons ,
Lay worthless to your one sight!

October 8, 2014:

Blood moon as red as my
Bloodshot eyes
Blurry through the tears
But I can still see through your lies

Blood moon as red as my
Bleeding lips
From biting them in fear
Of you slipping from my fingertips

Blood moon as red as the
Marks etched on my arms
You said you'd protect me from myself
And yet I was harmed

Blood moon now fading into pale gray
Now the night has turned to day
And the last tear drips away
As the feeling disintegrates

Thee shall bleed
and seep through
the endless pitch black blanket
that will tuck in
the human race
in their beds tonight
LUNAR ECLIPSE TONIGHT!

p.s

*the first title of the poem was "Blood Moon (15w)" but I revised it and it reached 22 words sooo yeah
