Let's be real
My poetry isn't what it use to be
I use to write these poetic lines that made you nod your head to the beat
Made you rise from your seat and do a 360 just to hear me speak
But now if that is what you seek
I'm sorry to disappoint but all you will see is me struggling
Living the recession to the fullest
Unable to connect the dots that float right in front of me
Yes, this is one of those stories
About how one of the greats have fallen from the heavens he once resided
The only difference is I was never a great
I'm just a simple minded being who seeks peace for society's sake
But that's kind of hard when society gets off on war
Creating these war torn third world countries who can't even breathe the air they live off on
Then again I'm only 18 so who am I to call out society and its perfect system that has been in play for centuries
So let me just close my mouth now and send you on your marry little way
But before I go there is just one last thing I would like to say

Act now before it is too late.

This is western society,
How much is distorted realism?
Talk in sinister sexism,
Casually call criticism,
Typecast fashion femmes,
What about men?
High heels or no,
They'll call you a **!
You can't blame women,
For control mechanisms!
Emotional blackmail,
A world run by males,
We should empower the young,
For their lives in the sun,
When was misogyny begun?
Any real chance of equality,
in our western society?
Feedback welcome.

I look at you
You look at me
I'm thinking your not really looking at me
I feel heat to my cheeks
Everytime I see you're blue eyes
Perusing me

The time we meet
I didn't know it yet
But now and then
I look back
Not to yesterday but to memories
They seem to fade away

But my feelings stay.
Look at my life,
In perfect curation.
Crawl through my photos,
For an endless duration;
My travels, my boyfriend,
My little black dress,
With each "like" you give me,
You'll like yourself less.
I'm pretty, I'm smart,
And outdoorsy to boot.
I proved I like hiking,
With a mountain top shoot.
I made it look easy,
My cheeks weren't flushed,
My re-application at the
Top wasn't rushed.
It's not about hiking,
But getting that shot,
To prove to the world,
That I'm trendy and hot.
My phone and it's filter,
Are all that I need,
Plus endless selfies,
And for you to believe.
One of one hundred,
Good angle and light.
Touched up and ready,
To upload tonight.
Of course it was worth it,
That trip to the top.
If I don't stay active,
My numbers will drop.
Please like me, share me,
keep me in rotation.
Please look at my life,
in perfect curation.

A long time ago, when we were young
My brother used to be a funny guy.
He could sometimes break me up a bit
Without really ever seeming to try.
So, one day, when he asked a favor;
I could tell because he wasn’t snarling
He batted his eyes like some movie star
And ended saying “Hunchy, lumpy, darling.”

Now all my brothers had Missouri drawls
And, it turns out, they never lost them.
No matter what I or teachers would say
They drawled no matter what it cost them.
They didn’t really have very much regard
Or use for the propriety of the King’s speech.
It’s almost like good grammar and prose
We just a bit too far out of their reach.

So, I wasn’t surprised I failed to understand
This strange request from my young brother.
After all he talked just like relatives, neighbors,
And most of all, sounded “Jess lack his mother”.
But this one time I had to stop and ask him
Would he please repeat what he asked me,
Because for all I was worth, at that moment
His meaning was blithely slipping past me.

His answer, you see, started me right off
On a hunger for rhyming, slang and puns.
My lifelong romance with games and wordplay
Had accidentally, but quite solidly begun.
Because Hunchy, lumpy, darlin’ it seemed
Was saying his way to me, “Honey Child,
Lambie Pie, Darling.” I got it and I screamed.

I laughed and rolled around on the couch
And took it instantly into my grabby brain.
That one little misheard bit of movie-talk fun
Hit me as hilarious and worth saying again.
I’m sure he picked it up from the TV;
Something from a forties comedy movie.
Thinking it was a bit glib, he purloined it
And he was right, I thought it was groovy.

She had a glow
That illuminated the
Shadow of the sun
That was put out with
A misplaced scalpel
Across her beating neck,
And the gas that
Put her to sleep
Held her down,
Hugged her tight
As she choked,
And woke up
In a place so dark.

the feelings that I have for her are so strong, or is it just lust that's flooding my eyes.
making me tell those her those lies as I right these weak *** lines.
the lust I imagined was beyond imagination. I imagined us just making love non-stop.
I finally woke up and realized it was lust that basically flooded my eyes.
simple writing (:
better stuff to come.

I was told
That my pen
Seems to leak sadness

But this is not true

It is my soul,
Which leaks sadness

It is my mind
My heart
My arms
My legs
Which leak sadness

It is me,
Which leaks sadness

So do not blame my pen
It is me
Leaking sadness

Not the pen

Cat Fiske May 2015
hello.
my name is Catherine but I go by cat.
I make videos, and help out a lot with audio for others,
but I have never recorder one of my own poems.
So, this sounds kinda odd,
But I'd love it if someone could maybe help me find a few good poems,
That I wrote,
To record and upload.
Just audio for now,
I'd also be very open to those ideas for an actual video to go with it,
but I'd like for people to of helped from this site,
And I'll give credit-shout outs,
to everyone who helped,
even in a little way.
Thank you.
