Involves deeper level of
Conversation
Starts with trust
Patience to listen
Eagerness to understand
Response to improvise
And ends with
A promise to flush
Ego
Anger
And indifferences

For the better conscience
Breathe in, breathe out

Shots after shots
Burning cigarette packets one after another
Listening to shiloh
Scrolling through your photos
Lay on the bed naked in sheets
Thoughts of you running in my mind
Under the moonlight i passed away in sleep

In solitary spaces
I find parts noise hid
screaming simulacrum
in broken cobwebs

a life pending
in crevices
sensing
chill

broken
concepts
mantles for
ruptured elements
their soft core exposed

casualties of bloodied past
salvaged fragments
society's furnace
discarded

singing
synths
waiting
No wrapping paper or bows needed
It's just a wish I'd like fulfilled
Maybe it will come to fruition

"Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?"
No, you shall not!
I already know I am lovely
But I am more tumultuous than temperate
And I prefer the icy chill of January versus
The darling buds of May
Sorry!
But any eternal summer you see within me
Shines for someone else
Any gold complexion that you see
Contains my words of lover's wealth
But it does not sparkle for you!
I apologize for the unrequited affection
But I think your Shakespeare needs correction
If Juliet is the sun from the East
Then I am strictly from the West
No roses in my lips or cheeks
Face flushed from cold at best.
So save your sonnets and your rhymes
For another girl at another time
I will be stuck in the winter's shade
Bearing icicles unafraid
But if you and your lover's lines
Saunter over and take a seat
I must let you know I shall have to go
And into the night I will retreat.

somehow—
the glint of the moon
on the crystals that dangled,
turned the fog
to fireworks.
it’s chilly and snowy here
Ray Dunn Nov 2019
as i stumbled home—
chill bouncing through my jacket,
it was nice to follow the moon
as something tangible.
cold cold cold i am cold i hate the cold i am coooooold
