Replaced Fred Perry, the past to bury.
(Yet praise he does not curry).
First Wimbledon, then Davis Cup.

I think I have come up with a solution
to the dilemma I described in another recent poem.
It is a path I always knew was available to me
but I did not know how to start upon it.
I am happy that it has remained open.

What is knowledge if it is not acted upon?
I will now reveal my most painful thought,
the burden I have been ******* about,
because we need to do something about it.
not just sit idly by as it destroys everything we know.

My secret is a spoiler.
The spoiler.
The ultimate spoiler.
The end of the universe.
"the heat death of the universe"
google it, and see.

This is really hard for me, saying this,
especially knowing that someone really cool may read it
and suffer as I have.
Please don't let it get you down.
although, I'm sure you won't.

But I have written so much already
and I haven't given what the title has promised.
The Solution is to construct a foundation
upon which future generations
of scientists,
inventors,
innovators,
and all of humankind
can build upon
so as to not only avert this terrible disaster
but to delve ever deeper into the vast reality we are born to

Let people tell you that you will fail
Let them try to discourage you and then confuse them and continue to listen to your heart
If your heart says to take a chance maybe you should listen
You may end up a failure
But you may end up a success
Maybe you'll be poor or in over your head from college loan debt but at least you will know it's because you're going after your dream

Being ambitious is dangerous
Taking chances comes with risks
You can choose to play it safe And you can tell me that I should play it safe too
But I've never been much for safety
I've tried to never let the what if's rule my life
So you can give me your advice
but I'm going to take risks and take chances
It's going to be difficult and its going to be scary but I will do it
because my dreams are worth it

Saying no
Saying it won't work
Telling me to do something else
Will only make me push myself harder
Won't you feel silly when you see my dreams become reality after telling me they wouldn't

No it isn't realistic
The chance is slim and the world is full of competition
but the world needs dreamers
I will not be discouraged and I will keep going on
Whether I get what I want
or not
I will just keep going
I couldn't live with myself if I didn't try

I find myself tracing my timeline
of all my littlest achievements.
That is the aftermath of all my failures.

I’m nothing special,
I’m nothing sweet,
Perhaps to change that,
Is what I want to achieve.

I’m nothing successful,
But what does that mean?
Perhaps to understand that,
Is what I want to achieve.

I don’t know where I’m going,
I don’t know what I want,
Perhaps to gain perspective,
Is what I want to achieve.

As confusion reigns all around me,
To pass the test of life,
Perhaps with flying colours,
Is what I want to achieve.

An away game at Leeds!
The Loiner Lion will have its feeds.
So it was, back in the day
When Revie’s Men held full sway.
Reaney, Charlton, Hunter, Cooper,
That defence was really super.
David Harvey, ‘keeper complete,
Guaranteed a solid clean sheet.

The midfield ruled by Bremner and Giles,
Billy’s energy, Johnny’s wiles.
Lorimer and Gray down the wings,
Recalling Eddie (Gray), oh my heart sings.
Jones and Clarkey gave us goals,
Lots of them, shoals and shoals.

73-74 our greatest year,
Opponents always full of fear.
Man U relegated that season too,
Better days there were very few.
We won the league by a merry mile,
Time to smile as we did it in style.

In 69 we lost just two from 42.
Opponents didn’t know what to do.
Burnley and City our only losses,
Otherwise we were the bosses.

92 was another good year,
Man U crying in their beer.
Then we sold them Cantona,
That really was a bridge too far.
The rest is history as they say;
We strive again to have our day.

In the second tier on Italian money,
Seeking the land of milk and honey.
The Premiership’s the place where we should be,
Please Messi, join us, on a free!

We hanker for those glory days.
God please help us with your mysterious ways.

perhaps they have a famous face
or well regarded name
maybe they play basketball
and have a winning team

is it artistic talent?
was Vincent van Gogh lauded?
in his painful lifetime
was this man applauded?

perhaps they are as Edison
and have a brilliant mind
but Edison used Tessla
to him he was unkind

this is what I think
makes a man or woman great
that they give life their ALL
that they do not faint

if you sweep the street
and make it clean and bright
If you are an educator
and bring poor children light
if you are a poet
on a humble poetry site
it is forgiving others
not having to be right!
if you are a boxer
and don't give up the fight

this is what is greatness
it's not playing a part
it is truly living

with your entire HEART.
