Violets
by Michael R. Burch

Once, only once,
when the wind flicked your skirt
to an indiscreet height

and you laughed,
abruptly demure,
outblushing shocked violets:

suddenly,
I knew:
everything had changed.

Later, as you braided your hair
into long bluish plaits
the shadows empurpled,

the dragonflies’
last darting feints
dissolving mid-air,

we watched the sun’s long glide
into evening,
knowing and unknowing.

O, how the illusions of love
await us in the commonplace
and rare

then haunt our small remainder of hours.

Roses are red
Violets are blue
You are my momma
I really love you

You are getting older
Hair is turning grey
It doesn't change the fact
that it's Mother's Day

I am lucky you raised me
Thank you for all you do
And no matter what
I will always love you
A poem written in a card I made for my mom many years ago.. I found it while cleaning my room.

Roses are red
Violets are blue
**** all the haters
Who think they know you

There will always be doubters
But our love is real
And none of their opinions
Can change how we feel

No one else matters
They'll never get it anyway
But they better get used to it
Cause our love is here to stay
Something I wrote for my boyfriend a long time ago.. lost the original piece so this is as close as I can remember

Roses are red violets are blue
In the depths of my heart it will always be you
Time will shine sweet memories this love grows
Unique connection between us silently echoes

Roses are perfectly red
Violets are perfectly blue
Swear that I'm perfect also
I know that's not true
I tried being her
Girl your eyes see
I can't change
Still the same me
Roses will always be red
Violets will always be blue
Know I will never
Be enough for you
A valentine's poem in january..

Talking next to you for hours
Turning cigarettes into flowers
Listening to the cricket's song
Can't sleep, awake all night long
Thinking of your, your voice, your heart
Being away from you tore me apart
Dancing by the lake
Moon's reflections shattered
Darling, I will wait,
You are all that matters
Found a plastic bag,
filled it up with violets
Listen to the sound
Of forgetting the violence
Streetlights
And store lights
Wandering with you
Darling how
I wish I knew
What I mean to you
I guess I'm just not good enough

Call me home
Don't leave me alone
I want to be were your heart is
Call me home

Run around with me
Wake up the fireflies
My doubt slowly dies
Call me home

Lift me up
Inside your arms
Dance with me
In the rain

Mist
In my eyes
You tell me
I'm alright
Tell me not to cry
I'll be
Okay
You'll love me
Every day

Look at that smile
The smell of your skin
Love me any day
I'll let you in

Dancing
Crushing violets
You're where my heart is
You're my home
