I am not black.
Prince ea said it right,
That’s what the world calls me, but   it’s not me,
I didn’t come out of my mother’s womb saying “heey everybody, I’m black”,
No. I was taught to be black,
And you were taught to call me that, along with whatever you call yourself,
It’s just a LABEL.

See, from birth the world false feeds us these LABELS,
And eventually, we all swallow them, we digest and accept the LABELS, never ever doubting them.

But there is one problem,
LABELS are not you,
And LABELS are not me,
LABELS are just LABELS.

But who we truly are is not skin deep,
See, when I drive my car no one would ever confuse the car for me,
Well, when I drive my body, why do you confuse me for my body, it’s my body, get it!. Not me.

Let me break it down,
See, our bodies are just cars that we operate and drive around,
The dealership we call society decided to label mine the Black Edition,
And with no money down that is zero percent and no test-drive,
We were forced to own these cars for the rest of our lives.

Forgive me, but I fail to see the logic or pride,
In defining myself or judging another by the cars we drive,
Because who we truly are is found inside.

Listen, I’m not here to tell you how science is concluded,
That genetically we are all mixed in,
And that all human species doesn’t exist,
Or how every historian knows the evolution of all human beings that was invented in the 5th century  and it has worked perfectly.

No. I am not here to lecture.
I just wanna ask one question,
Who would you be if the world never gave you a LABEL?,
Never gave you a box to check,
Someone please answer that cause i'm still in the dark,
No. We would be one,
We would be together,
No longer living in the era of calling human beings people,
These LABELS that will forever blind us from seeing a person for who are,
But instead seeing them through their judgmental, prejudicial, artificial filters of who we think they are,
And when you let an artificial label define yourself,
Then my friend, you have chosen smallness over Greatness and minimized yourself,
Confined and divided yourself from others,
And it is undeniable fact that where there is division there will be conflict,
And conflict starts wars, therefore every war has started over labels,
It’s always us versus them,
So the answer to war, racism, sexism and every other –eism is so simple that every politician has missed it,
It’s the labels,
We must reap them off.

Isn’t it funny how no baby is born racist?
Yet every baby cries when they hear the cry’s of another,
No matter their gender, culture or color,
Proven that deep down we were meant to connect and care for each other,
That is our mission,
And that is not my opinion,
That is the truth in a world that has sold us fiction,
Please listen, Labels only distorted our vision,
Which is for  half of those watching these will dismiss it or feel resistance and conflicted,
But, just remember, so did the caterpillar before it broke the which shell and became the magnificent butterfly,
Well these labels are our shells and we must do the same thing so we can finally spread our wings,
Human beings were not meant to be slapped with labels like groceries and supermarkets,
DNA cannot be regulate everyday,
We were meant to be free and only until we remove them all,
And stop living and thinking so small,
Will we be free to see ourselves and each other for who we truly are.
An inspiration from the great Prince ea.This goes to everyone out there, as he said, "we are not LABELS, labels are not you and labels are not me, Labels are just labels. We must reap them off".

Looking at the opposition we face,
We don't get it even a bit!
Surprised at how most of the world,
Treats the lovers as aliens!
But we are happy being aliens,
Astonished they will be!
~~~~
Watching at their angry faces,
We wonder wot crime we committed!
Stunned we are,
They call us mad!
But we are happy being mad,
Astonished they will be!
~~~~

We will come to collaborate,
In every single stage of life!
They will see our love,
They will start believing in love!
And then too,
Astonished they will be!

Keep us close everyday,
Bestow Your love in our hearts,
Let us be humble and kind,
Make us keep to Your good deeds,
Allow me to love him dearly.
And let him know that i love him
Let me be able to celebrate in his sucess.
And be able to mourn in his sorrows.
Lord keep us together,
In loving harmony and peace.
You have heard the kindest words i say to him
Let us love one another into enternity Lord!

May be there is music in my blood
And your love has the hands of a pianist,
For whenever you touch me
My whole body illuminates melody…

May be there are words in my soul
And your love has the passion of a poet,
For whenever you hold me
My whole body radiates poetry…

May be there is nothing common between us
Except the love that inhabits our heart,
But whenever you kiss me
My whole body feels our unity…

Whenever I look through your eyes,
I see a new world,
The world where there is joy,
The world where there is love.

Whenever I look through your eyes,
I see a spark,
A spark which makes my face glow a bit more,
A spark which lights the world.

Whenever I see through your eyes,
Your eyes say a million things,
Your eyes hold the faith in me,
Your eyes search for the answers,
Your eyes make me stay for a while,
Your eyes bind me to you,
For me this very time is our time,
The time in which the world is still,
Lips are shut,
Heart beats a little faster,
And eyes say more than words.
The stillness has lots and lots of emotions,
These emotions are only understood by us,
These emotions have a meaning,
They have a saying,
They are there to hold us.
Holding on to you might be a bit tough,
But the way you make me stay,
Will keep me going.
I want to go places where it is only us,
So that for once you would be able to see me,
See me in the way I'm,
So that I could see the reflection of mine in your eyes.
Reflection of true me could only be seen when you stay with me for a while.. When I would behave like a kid of four and still smile.
Be who you are.. Cuz you are you.. And no one can be the same as you.!

who do you belong to?
surely not yourself - the one you think
i belong to the ink
to the addictive white space i live beneath
never mind the exertion of things
reduce yourself to the grass and ****
you've been high for so long
look down and see
you’ve lost yourself in your journey
gone too long
and evermore prolonged
this is my reality
i am your memory.

sometimes when my mind goes to the darkest place
I wish we had drown
the night we fell asleep
together in the bath tub

so in love
we had no idea what pain was
we had no idea
of the storm that was coming

Her name is Chandney
In Punjabi it means the Moon
The thing about the moon is
It's not always appreciated
as much as it should be

The Sun steals all the glory
The Moon merely awaits its time
To come and reflect on the days
the Sun has left behind

The Moon picks up the pieces.

Chandney is my best friend
for a time she was my only friend
The only person I would call a friend
Not because I'd known her for so long
But because of all the things she'd done

Like coming to my door everyday
after school when I'd dropped out
and wasn't leaving the house,
tellin me about her day through the
intercom when she was young
and had the time to do that

The Moon kept me in touch
with the world of the Sun,
gave me a little bit of light left over
in the days when I saw none

And that's something that I will never forget

Like the first time I saw the moon cry
This moon is strong, this moon has pride
That hurt me inside
And every time since when I've seen
a sad face etched on your surface

I've cried with you, side by side
As you were Beside yourself
Day I realised that love comes
In many different forms
Cause I'd go above and beyond
anything I could ever do for myself
To reach out to you, lift you up
make you Smile, offer help

As long as I'm around
I want you to know
That the Moon is never truly alone
You have a sky full of stars
to keep you company
Consider the closest one to You as Me

We've shared some memorable nights
You and I
From first sleep overs
To gettin waved for the first time

Unlike so many The Moon
doesn't change with the tides
Loyal friend to this lunatic
The Moon changes the tides

When I was left alone
Crying night after night
The Moon watched over me
The Moon kept me company
Even in silence when
I didn't want to speak

The Moon was there

The constant silver lining
Reminding me that a new
day was gonna come
And I'd see the dark times through
Moon by my side goin through
the dark times too

We met as kids
And together we grew
I believe life for me is like
Those late night car journies
I'm Lucky, It's True

That No matter where you go
When you look out the window
The Moon is always with you
I've come to realise that a lot of my poetry falls on the sad end of the spectrum particularly when its to do with my own dilemmas. When I write about the people who I care for in life I do notice a difference. It's definitely more upbeat. It's good to show appreciation to those we care for in life, all too often these people are taken forgranted. If I've written about you it definitely means that you've made an impression on me in life and if I haven't there's a good chance I just haven't got around to it yet :P
