The sensuous snow layered soft flakes over her long limbs as she reached and raised the deep red cloak from where it had slidden, chiding Nicholas for his haste, while inwardly relishing this moment of personal pleasure in the back of the now spacious sleigh.
"Happy Christmas, dear," she whispered.
It's early for festive ditties I know but loved how this came together.

Hair flicks in the air
As the drive goes
With lowered down windows.

The air lashes
And the radio blurs
As the only eye sees
What it wants
As the coast glides
as we coast down
This road.

And perhaps
You wanted to take
another way
But we are at the mercy
of the driver,
With the sun in our eyes
and the sea to the left.

But please don't forget,
As you promise you wouldn't.
But the salt makes it hard to stay awake,
and the sun feels so good.
But you're gone as you should.

You clench
Your fingers
Around my heart
And are surprised
When you find them
Covered
In blood
to those who think their words can't hurt
A page filled with nonsense
in a book of standard things,
How's one to get lost in a jungle
lush and teeming with all these
mind boggles and heartstrings?

You're in for a surprise, splendor
Forget-me-nots by the ardent river,
Babbling, waiting, plucked to give
Placed on a grave of your spring,
Winter is coming, as fall retiring,
Set in for your rude awakening -

You're meant to outgrow within
The child dies, but the man refuses
To go out and start - he fears to begin.
As the air thins you are called to memory
I am as yet
Unsure of what relationship exists
Between the flitting nimbus and velocity
And me
Perhaps the times I fell away from the earth
Skirting through layers of atmosphere
Between the curvature of horizons
And a past sunset far behind me
I left traces of longing In contrails
I left vapour trails of emotion in the sky
Understandably you are filtered from my gravity restricted musings
With feet on Terra Firma; no contrail exists
Only here with vermillion slashing the clouds
Carving a wake through air so fast sounds can’t catch me
Do I remember how I howled

Mourning

Mourning is an eerie thing,
Not always tied to death.
It may celebrate or sing,
May widen eyes or lighten breath,
May bring unexpected things.

Sometimes it is a wayward thief,
That steals among the tombs;
It can alter feelings, and twist beliefs,
Searching for less bitter rooms,
Yet it brings a strange relief.

The heart may not know it,
Nor the mind accept it,
But it may be for the best.
As it guides the sorrowful away from grief,
To a long and healing rest.
Re-reading this, I was reminded of some of the riddles in JRR Tolkien'ts "The Hobbit". I'm fairly sure these were based on the word-play of either Anglo-Saxon speech or Middle English, that Tolkien knew so well. Perhaps I worked some of this in unknowingly?

I really think if you told your mom
You would be surprised
I hope the surprise is that she’s there for you
And that she finds the right words
Because she’s your mom
And if the surprise is hurtful
Remember the words you told me once
She may be grieving
Not because she is disappointed
But because she didn’t know
Because she doesn’t really know what it all means
Because she couldn’t find the right words at the right time
But more importantly,
Because she was the last to know
Mothers don’t like to be the last to know
We were once the first to see everything
Then we were demoted
Yet we saw more then we got credit for
Now that our children are grown and gone
It’s different
We rely on tidbits, small talk, holiday visits, sibling rumors
Mothers are often the last to know
But no matter what
And no matter how we react
When we are finally told
Or if we are never told
Every secret
Every heartbreak
Every silly encounter
A mother’s love is so strong
Our love is forever
I really think if you told your mom
You would be surprised

The air filled with laughter and cheers, leaving me
and Ainhara on the hill
"Oh dear," my handmaid smiles. "It appears it will be a long night.
Parting Paul from our sweet Esshi will prove difficult."
"Difficult but not impossible," I chime. "Come, Ainhara,
let us enjoy the rest of the night!"
'My wish came true tonight,' I beam.
'I will always remember this fantastic gala...' as I enter
the main dining hall with all my friends from near and far,
all my friends of many cultures as we join in laughter, in
glee, ever hopeful for the future of our thriving Kingdoms.
With every sip of wine, every nibble of the fine
dishes, all of our bonds have strengthened.
So now, let us be like the lanterns,
and rises together, sailing through the horizons
to touch the Heavens above.
Eager for the adventures ahead...
This marks the last chapter of the Gala series!
I do hope everyone enjoyed it, I had a blast writing it.
Thank you so much everyone for the support!
It truly means to the world to me,
To Queen Donna and King Dean of Vesian,
I wish you all the happiness in the world.
Congratulations again on your marriage
and to the Great Lady of Haikus, happy belated birthday!
Tomorrow, I'll be sure to put it all in a collection for
you. I hope you enjoyed the series! ^-^
Stay blessed everyone and much love!

All of them fill the skies, warm tender lights
forming strings of rainbows in the night's sky.
"Fifty lanterns to mark your fifty years," Paul chuckles
as he sees Donna's tears of joy. Dean even blinks
away tears, embracing his wife's back and rubbing
it."
"Happy belated birthday, Donna," I say as I approach her.
"Thank you all so much," she sniffles as she embraces Paul
tightly. "I'll always remember this... But the greatest
present you've all given me is just being here.
All my friends from near and far, I'm grateful to
know you all."

We all gasp in wonder as the lanterns seem to gather and
rise to the very Heavens.
"Alright everyone! To the feast!" Paul beams and everyone
cheers. Dean and Donna share a loving kiss before walking
down the hill towards to Palace, stars glitter in everyone's eye.
"Esshi! Esshi, honey! You're sitting with me!" Paul cooes and I
spot him jogging to Esshi's side and carrying her bridal style.
"K-King Paul! T-this is most improper!" she squeals,
trying to hide her burning facing with her hands.

"No it's not! Besides, your Queen says we can marry!
Only fitting that I get to know my fiance!"
"The same fiance you're lying too!" Sue laughs.
"Paul, put the poor girl down," Donna shakes her head.
He stuck his tongue out and carries her into
the palace.
"Brandon, come near her and I'll fight you!" he warns.
Brandon only rolls his eyes. "A fight I'll willingly accept!"
