I
I
I am.
Human.
Intelligent.
Selfish,
Yet selfless.
Contradictory.
I am.

I
I fear.
Love.
Sacrifice.
Death.
But I,
I believe.
In love,
sacrifice,
and death.

I
I want.
I lust.
I crave.
I have.
I need.
I feel...

I am.

I.
A poem that focuses on the individuality. A generalization of the way we use, "I" and how I can use it to define what it means to be human, in my perspective.

I met a girl
With a heart to change the world
And a lovely smile

She had a soul
Like cold midnight breezes
And lonely walks

She had eyes
Like grass dancing in the wind
And poison kisses

She had hair
Like a warm fireplace burning
And sunsets

Her mind
Like a hurricane of imagination
And confusion

But she left
Disappeared into herself one day
Forgot me

And I wait
For another void to be filled
In silence

Forget the ones that look down on others for only running a sandwich shop
Forget the ones who abide to the standards of illusion
Realize the grief you shoot into the masses
I despise everything you are
It’s not that you’re professional
It’s what professional made you out to be
Your eyes eroded from money and alcohol
Your pride creates the shame of the humble
And nothing else pumps through your veins
the homeless, your worst nightmare, nonetheless have such a more colorful heart than yours
You’d **** us off to rule this worldless plane
If only you didn’t exist
Could we be free of this *******
What do you have to offer?
I want to know
Can u even give a needy person a hug?
So please-stay away from my life
The tools of death you’ve made
Used for protection from the innocent
I’m no better than you
But I want to try and make truth
Because we are all selfish
But selfish isn’t what we’re made into
Does it matter more to you that you care for others or that others care for you?
Would you take a series of bullets
Would you leap before a dashing car
Would you dance on sweltering embers for the sake of one who does you nought in return?
Wouldn’t most or wouldn’t anyone endure the worst for acknowledgement and commendation…

I try to be gallant—self-sacrificial,
Try to be benevolent, bleeding heart beyond comprehension
Yet am I worse than the slaughterers?
The iniquitous, the rest?
No more than the vile, reprobate, devilish…
For who, after all,
Cast oneself beyond forgiveness
The felon who would exploit acts of selflessness
To assemble his own
Maleficent, pernicious lair
Of praise, acclaim, and comfort.

Look at us,
Thinking we are a sophisticate,
so intricate,
and yet we ***** about what we have not anticipated.
Look at the last person you saw,
picking out their every flaw,
noticing how they are a *******,
yet we are not a part of it.
They have lives which differ from ours,
we are the extras in their hours,
they do not care for you,
just as you do not care too.
We eat the same nutrients,
read the same rudiments,
believe we are better,
because of our new sweater.
What we do not see,
is we all have a plea,
we watch the same ****,
have times to mourn,
act as judge and jury,
to everyone else's storm.
You are a god,
in your own right,
you deserve to be awed,
because you fight the good fight.
Yet when anything falls,
you look around and blame the walls,
the one's which restrict and keep you from joy,
the one's you constructed,
behind this foolish ploy.
So grow the **** up,
and recognize your faults,
or grow on up,
and dance alone in this waltz.

Do I have to be selfish
And hide the truth
To achieve everything

Do I have to be a thief
And steal one's right of knowing things
To manipulate everything

Do I have to be egocentric
And forget about others
To be happy alone

To yawp is to scream
To scream is to feel relieved

Am I relieved
Or do I look relieved

To be or not to be

I was kinetic
Tired, frenetic
Wasting alone in my room

Three years gone
You hooked my attention
I braced for affection
Flooded the halls

I was so blind to the care in your voice
All I could see was your hair and your throat
Gripping to sever my lack
I bit as deep as I could

I wanted your blood
Because it glowed with warmth
I just didn’t care anymore

Hope is an addict
Roaming the attics
Of memories long gone

Love is relentless
Lust is wreckless
I’m selfish to the core

Care does not equate to love. I hurt everyone I touch.

1– Most people try to avoid eye contact at all costs.
2– Most people either do not say "thank you" or mumble it as if it doesn't mean anything.
3– Most people act out of either self-interest or custom.
4– In most people, the maternal instinct is dead or at least deadened.
5– Most people don’t know how to control their child without using impact to the head or behind.
6– Children outnumber adults, and 20+ year-old children exist.
7– Most people will look for a scapegoat in even a mildly adverse situation, even if one doesn’t exist.
8– Most people have no sense of respect and are therefore not deserving of respect.
9– Most people do not recognize the humanity of others. (See Nos. 1-5, 8)
10– Most people have lost their humanity, also known as their soul.
PoisonousMind Jun 2014
We depend on opinions from empty minds and change for people who need to change themselves. We take advantage of frail hearts and cut wrists to get to the top of a made up food chain. We rip innocent leaves from trees and pour death into bodies of water. We purposely bring pain to those we love and expect to then be forgiven. We intoxicate ourselves and trust we can get home safely when we realize we've just stripped away the life of a mother and her little girl. We obsess over people who will never appreciate us because we believe that's what we deserve. We feed off of the sadness of others because it gains the happiness in ourselves. We are selfish, we are murderers, we are human.
