Black smoke Rises
sticking to the walls
inside my lungs
Coughing back my tears
As the ash attacks my throat
and spreads across my tongue
The cinders crackle
flaring up to light the sky
devoid of sun
As I toss inside, one by one;
the letters that you wrote to me
when we were young

But we're growing old
and as these fires flare up
to fight the cold;
As they burn up
the words these letters hold,
I find nothing can erase
the lies you told.
Because every promise
that you sold
still hides in every line,
In every fold,
In every letter inked in gold

And ss the wind picks up
and brings the rain
And your letters burn
till ash remains
It hurts me just
To say your name
But I know my pain
can be contained
And that peace can
Be obtained...

From the ashes
I'll be born again

They told us to never play with fire
To never touch a match
To throw away the lighters
They said to never play with fire

One day while on my front steps
under a Mars red sky
a child’s ball rolled into my foot
he retrieved it
thanked me
and scurried back to his family in the distance

all in one swift breath

In that moment I said “no worries.”

But when I reminisce
about the times when I was in your Velcro kicks
what I really wanted to say
is that I hope they raise you to become a Phoenix.

I hope they teach you to rise from any ash beneath you
I hope they teach you to respect and feel blessed,
to never be the prey of jackals in men’s clothing
to know when life is the boxer or the ring
to know when life is the boat or the typhoon tide you must find a way to swim through

I hope they teach you never to treat a woman like something that can be bought
I hope they teach you what LGBT means
I hope they teach you what BLM means
I hope they teach you what USA means and is
because at times those clash

I hope you never let the words of another mouth
enter your psyche and leave with your pride

I hope you never get dumped on your birthday
I hope you never learn what desperation feels like

and I sincerely hope that they teach you to care about what others face
and that growing older is the farthest thing from a race.

The Inferno devours the infant,
Blaze towering the callousness,
The envelope of Innocence innate within,
Collapses under the Wrath of Hell.

The Son of the Divines fails to rise,
Wobbly and tiny are his limbs,
All alone in the cruel world,
His snivels muffled, by the Hands beneath.

Years into the Netherworld,
The Phoenix reduced to gruesome ashes,
Screaming scars donning the lad,
Made him stronger in spite the cracks.

It was time for the Sun to burn again,
For the ten steps of Hell would be torn apart,
The Bloom of the Phoenix from the ashes burnt,
Would quench the Blaze and obliterate the lust.

And so did the Phoenix rise,
Darker than Satan, yet brighter than The Light.
Breaking hell loose on Hell itself,
Wrecking the cages of the Living Dead.

He spread his wings, embraced the warmth
Born of The Light, raised by The Dark
But as time passed, people forgot,
The Legend of The Dark Phoenix.

Sands and seashells as white as moonlit night
And water tugging slightly at the small boats
Trembling in the wake

“Far across the silvery sea”
Those little waves whisper to me
“From ocean dark and brooding blue, cross horizons bleeding red
is a land where the mists travel languidly through
and dangerous things betwixt the paths you tread.”

“There is a city that some say glows in the night
Whose towers ***** to glorious height
Domes and great structures stand below
Upon white stones, blue moonlight does glow.”

“If you swim out during the brooding storm
And torrential city make, with towers of black swirling wake
The sea will take and change your form
You will enter the depth and the depth will enter you
And sea imbued, you emerge anew.”

“On the second day, and the crest of red rising light
When Phoenix fly against the night
You will be ****** from water by the fiery wing
And to a new land take you as Phoenix songs it softly sings.”

“There you will encounter the dangers and things of strange delight
And the white walls of Elyse, whose light is cast upon the height.”

From dusk till dawn
In the far skies of smog
Hushed under the carpet of snow
Listening to the lullaby of stars
A young damsel cries
Searching for respite
From the harsh clutches of Society
And her turbulent past
Her gaze rests on the farthest light
On the northest bright
In the meditative state she utters
After all that ruining abuse
I have been dead a hundred times
With the touch of your Love
O my Sweetheart
I thank my stars, I am still alive
I must have turned into a Phoenix
Who has arisen from her own Ashes

If loving you was a mistake,
Then I’d gladly go down in flames,
But like a phoenix,
I will rise through the ashes.

Either as the devil or the angel,
Either as a sinner or a saint,
I will hold you,
Until the end of our days.

And when it comes,
You can choose to be my salvation or my damnation,
But know that whatever the decision,
I will love you nonetheless.

You realize this was planned out from the very start.
We were meant to come together just so we could fall apart.

The pain of losing you was unbearable, I was so sure I couldn't survive, but from the ashes like a Phoenix I managed to rise.

I realize now that this was the only way I would be forced to look inside, and face the demons I was running from my entire life.

Where there once was heartbreak, now only gratitude resides. Your bittersweet sacrifice helped me find my way back to who I really am inside.

Thank you.
