I want to give you my heartbeats/ finger paint my love in the edges of your soul/ can I love you abyss deep/ hold you as a child birthed from gravity/ could we be pregnant with possibility/ I close my eyes holding my breathe willing time to still/ I want to balance on the fibers of chance and forbearance/ for you I will wait in the stillness of dawn/never counting the raising suns/ but forever embracing the warmth of each day/ Hopeful. Patient. Non-searching//

I would want you to be my star,
but then you would fade in the morning.

I would like you to be my sun,
but then you would set at night.

So maybe you could be my 'heartbeat,'
If it stops, I won't die from fright.

**I'm already dead.

There are times when I fall in love with someone new,
but I always find myself back in love with YOU.
Yes, it takes a little patience and faith,
but it's worth the wait.

Tap, tap, and tap faster now
to the beat she’d exclaim

Her fingers would dance over black and white keys
as her expression screamed passionate
She held herself up with ease, dressed in love
Poise could very well be her middle name
Patience and respect dangled, I imagined
from her tousled brown hair
Laughter to be thankful for in her piano lesson

Clap, clap, and clap faster now
to the beat she’d exclaim

Patience is a virtue
but how can I be patient when all I want is you?

Being who he is
it came as no surprise
that he could not be anything else
but alone
Shutting every door
until nothing but the looming shadows
from the drapery
remained

Four walls were needed
Four walls and no doors
Nothing that could be opened
or brought inside
to share the space

and it was always my place to stand
patiently
waiting for a welcome
that never comes
He sought to break

What he could not shake in its fury

He sought to beat

What he could not fight at its strongest

He slacked when time slept

In its weakest moment

He forgot to fix the cracks on his happiness,

To ruin the battle of his sorrow,

To beat the taunting teeth of hardship

He watched as champions

The early bird gets the worm, is what they're telling me.
But babe,
The one who waits for honey turns out the lucky bee.
