I'm out of my head,
Floating in oxygen,
Yet I still forget to breath,
Sometimes.
The oxygen in this sea of depression.
I thought I was used to this wretched sea,
some things never get old.
Nameless Oct 2015
I question myself and reality.
Finding the worst possible outcome, then a hundred more.
When I feel safe, but then startled, I panic.
I go through the list, I made, of good things…
But, I can’t make any of the words out.
Nor can I speak, But I CAN scream.
I can kick, punch, and bite!
…Because I feel threatened!?
Oxygen fills my lungs.
Only to come out in Erratic, Choppy, Panting breaths.
I pull on my skin, to make sure it’s still there.
The others only give me a migraine.
And, I’ve only been here maybe… ten minutes.
But it felt like a LIFETIME.

& then I die, only to be born again…
                                                                                          & again.

In a world of oxygen, tell me, why can't I breathe?
Madison Y Sep 2015
I can't think straight
(Or crooked or sideways).
I'm too ******* tired to invent some new distraction
(You're no good at party tricks)
And too scared to figure out what the hell I want.
The water's filling up your lungs—
A kiss could make it all better,
But I'm too busy blowing bubbles
And skipping rocks across the surface.
Despite it all, you stand and wait
When I fall behind on our afternoon walk
And offer me your arm when the trail gets steep.
You're oxygen, but I'm reaching for novacane,
Trying so hard to be indifferent to the spark in your eyes and the part of your lips,
Though I know **** well it's no use.
I am a moth to a flame—
When it burns too bright, It consumes me.
So I'll turn away before it starts,
Blind myself to every truth except the one I live inside:
If I can't love you, I can't love anybody.

the first time that i wrote poetry
i find my locution cliché
because it was always winter
in my heart but you were the oxygen
i never knew i'd breathe in
and i have loved you since the day
you have touched my nights
so stay a while with me
in this room where i lay alone
as we hear each others' heart beat
(J.a.tm.)

Isolation in the barren wasteland
Breathing dust
Exhaling oxygen
Running low

Baby kiss me
like we're on Mars and the only breath
we have is from
each other's lungs.

If no one ever told you that you breathe an invisible gas at all times and it is always surrounding you, then it would have absolutely no meaning.

You wouldn't appreciate the value of it until you're gasping for it and begging.

I remember the day you left. You walked out of the room and I watched as all the oxygen followed you until there was nothing left.

Some people never get to see what it looks like in a room with no air, gravity left and the pain was too much to bare.

Face turning blue, everything floating around the room, I wonder if I was more worried of getting my breath back or you turning around and coming back.

As I float off, ready for the inevitable, everything slams to the floor as you run threw the door! I inhale deeply and before I can exhale you say "sorry, I forgot my shoes!"
You don't know how preciouse something is until you lose it.

Permit me to drown in your love;
Allow my lungs to replace all oxygen
With thoughts of you,
Let me die with your smile;
The shivers it causes
Being my inevitable demise.
