My heart
is more brutal
than the raging
blizzard outside.
Want it?
Then you must cross
its frozen tundra,
and risk
being turned
to ice.
Hannah Jan 2017
I will never
bite my tongue
in the presence of you.
My words are made of ice,
but you burn hotter than fire.
You are never afraid
of my frozen heart.
11:54

A clock glares upon me like the devious desert sun.
How many times have these hands made this voyage?
The sands seem so vastly changed from yesterday

11:55

A single minute vanished in midair so soon
Did that moment matter? Did it mean more than time?
Minutes together create time but alone stand hollow

11:57

Life slips away with this departing time
Still I sit here staring at a comical clock
The unforgiving frozen mess that is my world

11:58

A heavy awareness of time voids its' truths
This clock being watched laughs in secrecy
Moments stolen; memories changed by these hands

12:00

Another day finished and again air is stale
The time has arrived to surrender again
Seconds that will never come again have passed
Minutes that never came will come again today
Even thaw is met with freeze
Even rivers cannot flow
Winter brings her blunt breeze
Winds of change, cease to blow

And here, stuck in the ice
Of winter water's wake
Memories, they fall heavy
Yet ice they will not break.

Numbed down, chilled deep
Bated breath in thawing time
Though we lost our melody
The words I wrote still rhyme.

In time, the seasons change
Winter's sting no longer felt
Til then, in frozen frost I wait
To move, to mend, to melt.

traces of being Dec 2016
An unfenced field
of memories awoken ,
frozen pastel flowers
color fast ,
though fading
on borrowed time

A one-way footpath
disappears unencumbered
between the snowdrifts
leading across
the winter stilled
iced up creek bed ,
coursing a path
of least resistance
destiny unknown

Changing tawny petals
scatter like potpourri ,
fallen collateral
in the aftermath
a beautiful dream's
passing light

Pressed and dried
memories buried
under dog-eared
tear-stained pages
black topiaries
that grow in the dark

Redemption unbid
and unwelcome,
earthen mineral rights
surrendered unspent ,

Natural order
decomposing
reclamation ,
chilled to the marrow

A scorned lover’s
bated breathe
bared ink unspoken,

Unbidden laments
eerily betokened
in an unseen
netherworld ,
undeniable ,  yet
bashfully remarkable

I see the frosty
fogged breath
that repents
in choral dialect ,
speaking in known
tongue , with
the absolvable voice
of a bitter cold wind

Notes (optional)
from the cracks and crevices
of the incoming wintertide gripped mind
Jamie Dec 2016
The woods are softly snowy deep
Their noises all lain down to sleep
While silver branches wrapped in white
Send a thinly message plight
A hush floats through the foggy air
And think I oh if life was fair
It would not be so bad to go
Where dips and hollows fill with snow
I feel no cold, it bites no more
And far away a frozen shore
The waves lap softly gently sweep
As I drift downward ever sleep
The birds fly quiet softly coo
And now shall I fall silent too

It's been so long
Since I've felt your hands run up my thighs
As your eyes peer up at me
Show me your hunger
Your body covers mine
As your tongue hits the most wonderful spot
It's been such a long time
Since I've felt that heat
The trail of fire your lips leave on my frozen skin
Its been such a long time
Since I've last felt your lips on mine
The heat has faded and frozen over
Waiting

I see FROZEN leaves;
Shimmering in the snow,
Reflecting the stars,
Entranced in their glow -

And the heart flutters down,
Like a frozen leaf;
With their glow fading away,
In a Winter motif.

Tiny wool mittens
Roughly sculpted my frame
From a flat land of snow
To a girl with no name
2 frosty green peas
Became blurry eyes
Then 10 little craisins
Made a smile so wide
My arms were uneven
One thin and one thick
Many shades of brown
But of the same stick
A mildewed blue hat was
Placed right on my head
Plus a scarf round my neck
That was cardinal red
All my wonderful features
Yet I don't think I'm real
'Cause I'm a girl with no name
Who can not seem to feel
Devin Lawrence Nov 2016
By fear or by love,
you've got me frozen,
stuck
in perpetual awe
and I don't know
whether I should fight
or I should fly -

My darling,
you've clipped my wings.
