bright and brilliant
is what you are.
empowering and
majestic in every way
imaginable.

i could try to
escape, but you
flow faster than
my legs can sprint
and you'd end up in my
path again.

i could stare
into you forever
and find a new color
in your eyes
every time.

i could listen to
your voice on end
and never
grow weary of the
stories that spill.

you are hot
and boiling magma
racing towards me;
threatening my well-being,
but you have me too
in awe to flee.

faster and faster
you trickle in
my direction
down the
mountainside volcano.

then you reach me
and I'm buried and
burned under beautiful
****** lava that is you.

I draw on lilac cigars
through my mask
so her journey in neon stays
safely as a highlight
in gas filtered clouds

the faulty starter judders the light
flora scented
and in the flickering clouds
an attempt at landing
reveals her girdle red
in a flash of steely eyes
and suddenly mine were blinded
just as she rubbed against the dark

combing her strands wildly apart
she shook blonde roots and brunettes alike
I'm a sucker for hair turned hydrogen
peroxide mixed with air to make stars
startling amidst malefactory dye

metal booms swung away at each other
in the distance
building her model oxygen tanks
for pin up flower cuttings
and garlands on picket fences

she kissed the ground
and I gas peddled
a stomp on the glowing end
to the stub

only to drop like a skeleton
with lead hands
to follow any seeds
******* burnt rain
my father smoked heavily
as he described this dream to me
a premonition he said
from a night before the disaster
when he awoke still at home
Acknowledgement to the Hello poet Chloe whose mention of the Hindenburg in Counterbalance reminded me of his experience.

The Hindenburg disaster took place on Thursday, May 6, 1937, as the German passenger airship LZ 129 Hindenburg caught fire and was destroyed during its attempt to dock with its mooring mast at the Lakehurst Naval Air Station, New Jersey. Of the 97 people on board, there were 35 fatalities.

Rain is coming
In this dry and barren land.

You may expect it to come in a cool mist
Or tiny raindrops that pitter-patter on your red roof,
But if you look up to the far horizon you'll see
Giant pillars of clouds in the sky
Casting heavy dark shadows.
From it you'll know that

Rain is coming
And it is coming in a heavy downpour .

The howling winds will whip us.
The rain will soak our skin
And the cold will seep into our bones.
Deafening thunders will pierce
Not only our ears but also our hearts.
Structures will be struck by lightning
And erupt in flames.
Mountains will crumble.
Valleys will flood.
And we will have no choice
But to hold on to each other
Or perish.

But when the sky calms down and the storm subsides,
The light of day will reveal
A city cluttered with chaos,
Beyond rearranged:
Reinvented.
But now
Dry streams are once again
Flowing with coolness and clarity.
The floods had revived the parched soil,
The sleeping seeds we have planted, now awakened.

Finally
There will be growth,
There will be progress,
There will be abundance, overflowing.
We will be blessed
And called to be a blessing to others.

Finally
Our toils and tears will have justice.
Our faults and failures will have mercy.
But in our depth and in our death,
Grace:
Unconditional,
Richly lavished.

Countrymen
Bear the dry dust a little longer,
Just keep fighting the faith
And holding on to hope.
And when it comes,
Welcome the sky with open arms
But at the same time
Brace yourselves for

**Rain
Is
Coming.

i think you like me
but you are afraid
of hurricanes.
you have never met someone
who has outlived
a natural disaster.

It may seem strange,

but sometimes,

I watch you sleep.

Seeing you lie there,

dreaming.

It seems to be

the little bit

of peace I

have left.

bring me to your thoughts
let me know all of your thoughts
I want to know everything

bring me the idea of this deficit
let me take away the pain
by cutting off your vein

bring me the disaster
knowing all the answers
come down
and cut me off my guard

endless fountains
endless mountains
filled with pain and disaster

you wanted me to be possessed
possessed by your inner demons
turn me into you slave

Although it's only been days
I still can't count the ways
My body screams and aches
I don't have what it takes

How long have you been gone?
The list goes on and on,
Do you miss me too?
**...Not like I miss you.

In the moments before disaster
I fell in love.

He was beautiful,
Why was he so beautiful?

I wanted to hold him close
And make sure he was alright
But in the end I was the one that
Crumbled and he,
Well he was the victor of disaster.

I never believed before
For so very long
That karma was real
But I guess I was wrong

'Cause some of the things
I did in the past
Came right back around
And bit me in the ***

And all of the lies
And the things that I said
Are making me wish
That I could just be dead

All the things that she knows
And the **** that I did
Knocked me down flat
And sent me through a skid

I left blood on the pavement
I hit hard and fast
Because karma's a *****
And I'm caught in the blast

So I'm lying here broken
Scraped, bleeding, and bruised
Crying on the ground
Feeling so abused
