Three stand before thee
The silver trophies gleam bright
Ambitions are bared
Lyda M Sourne Jul 2018
And doubts have dashed
And murmurs gone
And frowns have turned downside up

To smiles
And heart
And laughter
And newfound friends
And applause
And gratitude

As miles of
Blood
Sweat
Time
Heart
Mind
Hard work

Have rewarded the sweetest
Not of gold but of

a musical gift
Written after we won a music competition. Some people were salty about losing. I'm just glad all my hard work didn't go to waste.

Remember the Rush?
I do.
Remember the Feel?
I do.

Remember the time you felt alive and all was still?
The day you got that
That medal of yours

You thirsted for them
Had to have more
And you achieved another
Another achieved again

But that last accident threw you for a spin
And you’re on bedrest
You’ve lost some shine
Like those medals

These medals of mine...
Maybe I’ll make another poem about how I get up and become what I used to be but I can’t do that because it’s not true... I really peaked when I was younger and now I don’t have anything going for me..

Sometimes my stomach empties
And it feels like I
Could consume the sky
With a single breath of air

But when I see my peers
And their success
How quickly I forget
Every win and concurred fear

The hunger is an eternal thing
With an observation to see
But the memory of what ere I've won
Ought to be enough for me
On competition.

teeth and scissors
slicing and grinding--designing
downfalls of detritus
deemed gross by us
stamped and sealed in blood
the typical shumck
undone

beatin' a beat on bones
breakin' skulls and ****
bemoan piteous tales of sorrow
wish it was different--don't
it's not
and it's nevermore

backroad backstories
backtrack to simple dreams
crushed inevitably by
me
by you
by this boulder in cosmic
volumes of nothing
n o t h i n g

so beat
or be beat
break so you don't
breakdown on the downbeat
beatdown downtown
the show of the modern world
with smog and **** background
ground down into

our raw, exposed blend of horrible

It's (nothing)

personal.

You can't compete where
you don't compare.
One of the MANY reasons why I hate society - people pining people against each other for their own amusement. Creating unnecessary drama and blowing something completely out of proportion. Something that gets worse every **** day.
But also, this is relevant to people - be it friends or family, who see you as competition for no reason at all. They do one thing, you do another. And when you're the best at what you DO, that person will do the same thing as you for attention...
Personally speaking, I don't see people as competition. I just do what I want to do. Since when is that a bad thing?

Anyway, thank you so much for 85 followers! ^.^
Expect MORE Lantern poems from me. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
You guys are so amazing, I swear!

Be back soon!

You see a lot of girls talking about their insecurities
But hardly any boys speak about theirs
It’s like we’re simply not allowed
Like it’s a rule that you can’t be open about your feelings
Well I am
I’m one of the few boys who are
I’m comfortable enough to talk about my uncomfort
And there’s a lot of it
Some boys can relate to girl problems
I relate to them all
I bleed every month
I’m uncomfortable with a lot of my body
I feel feelings
Everyone feels feelings
Girls are encouraged to talk about them
But what about us boys?
Can’t we be sensitive?
Because some boys are insecure
And we need to express it

I shot down opportunities
Then stared at the wall
Watching them painting
Differences from their hearts
Building new stairs upward
While I managed my downfall

The lights weren't bright
Then I coughed on the dust
Pushing my vitals to decay
I spoiled my life and now I pray
God please help this pathetic
To raise both hands in joy
To raise my head in pride
