One day I will get married
And one day I will be the most beautiful bride

One day I will be preparing to say my perfectly executed vows
And one day I will be so in love that I will cry

One day I will wear something borrowed
And one day I will wear something blue

One day I will get married
And on that one day I will somehow still be thinking about you

One day I will be ready to walk down a rose lined aisle
And on that one day I will be praying that you will stand up when the priest asks “Does anyone have a reason these two shall not wed”

The tremors of her lip
Measured seismographic.

The fissures of her vows
Arrived at her throat.

Her diamond band never shifted;
She broke away from me.

For I said,
"We all die alone with our actions."

you hold dark weddings in your slumber
where the groom is no more than a fixture
painted smile brittle and small
mothers hold cages they wish upon
daddies girl no longer blue-eyed saint
your bestie too drunk to carry your tune
where the cake is bitter
the gifts torn

i looked to you but could not be seen
so a lament came to my wicked lips
looked to you and all I could see was the gravity
that drew me into you
a stranger with her own maps and masks
showing the straight line between your dusk and dawn
a statement of what's not fair
strange you love me

looked into you
a stranger who comes up slowly
I colour with magic markers the darkness in your eye
make it as pretty as you wished
hide it all away
I sleep each night inches away
from your slow walking fear
as you toy with silk strewn lusts
sweet asylum that is never too close
always far too near

I looked to you but could not be seen
so a lament came to my wicked lips
mumbled a carpet of apologies
spread out 'neath your feet
as you dip one toe into the waters
you called me
but when I looked to you
you looked away

there is a ship that sails tonight
I can see us on it
we wave bye-bye in slow motion capture
I can see joy in your eye
dance cheek to cheek under the moonlight
shine cause I know you like to touch dreams
breathe for me girl
just keep dancing 'neath starry sky
ill crash your dark weddings
catch your tears before they can fall
be waiting on your morning doorstep
come home to find me
come home from those inches away
look into you
just for you
not that someone
in a dark wedding day

You see me under daylight bright,
A little girl in nightgown white
With stains of red all down my spine
From poppy field naps in warm sunshine.

But, as the moon begins to rise,
The night shows who I am inside:
A bride who died in wedding bed
From stab that stained her white back red...
Just because someone looks like their life is perfect, doesn't mean they've never been hurt or gone through anything before.

Beneath the white snow of her
flowing gown,
                 a beauty is motionless.

Waiting for her moment as wilted
rose petals fall motionless,
               crimson tainting her purity.

The words still lingering, buried within
never to be exhumed from her thoughts.

This bride forever waiting , still holding
on to the rose, she is wilted like it,
but her beauty is motionless as others cry.

Draped in bridal red
Amidst widowed landscapes she stands
With her veil swaying gently in the breeze
And blossoms tinkling at her feet
Fractured light decorates her
Revealing rubies hiding in her tresses
She brings forth her veil
Shading weary scorched souls
An oasis
Amidst desolate desert sands
The forest fire rages
Against fate which brought upon us this drought
Rekindling hope
Of new birth and mercy
And rages
Until it's time for gentle showers and soothing greens
Then tired
Sleeps until the end of spring

Tender,purple,leaves abound,
avenue mango tree adorned,
like a comely bride,
unfolds poetry in life!
Spring unfolds her pages of soft, romantic poetry, everywhere..

Hands
calloused and strong lift my veil, carry me over the threshold
Turn shadows into birds when wings falter, cup round the flame biting my cigarette
Tilt my face to share a sweet kiss, rest gently against blushing cheeks
Shelter from the cold, warm me in and out and in and...
Flip through musty book pages done up with dog ears and underlines
Brush curls from his face, sweep sweet sweat from his brow
In the dirt transfer love to the life created within it
