Thinking of you
Craig Harrison Aug 2014
In my life time I've seen
5 generations of the Iphone
The rise of Google
Bill Gates replaced as the worlds richest man
the continuing transformation of China and India
I've been witness to so much but yet so little

I'm still yet to witness
Man on mars
Alien integration into our society
The end of poverty
World peace
I've seen so much but yet so little

Despite what I've seen and the things left to witness
I can't help but think of those that wont be here to see the future
Rest In Peace to you all
This was inspired by the story of Taylor Smith

Sadly she passed away this year due to complications to pneumonia
while her parents was going through her things they found letters she had written to people but one letter stood out from the others, it was a letter to her future self 10 years from now.. As I read the letter I couldn't help but smile but once I finished reading I cried a little because I remembered that she had passed.

I'm more than what you see
Craig Harrison Aug 2014
If I told you I was a fireman and a building fell on me while I rescued children from a burning school
would you still look at my scars and judge me unfairly

If I told you I pushed an old lady out the way of a speeding car
would you still look at my limp and judge me unfairly

If I told you I gave everything I own to charity
would you still look at me for been homeless and judge me unfairly

If I told you I had cancer 3 times
would you still look at my bald head and judge me unfairly

I am more than what you see
please don't judge me

Quote
Craig Harrison Aug 2014
The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart.
Visual art
great sounding music
nothing comes close to the beauty we feel for our loves
our children
our families
love is beautiful
felt with our heart
written in our words
drawn in our art
made in our sculptures

Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.
Never give up
never back down
1 million times tried
but the moment we succeed
we feel immense happiness
never give up
always try one more time

Life is a dream for the wise, a game for the fool, a comedy for the rich, a tragedy for the poor.
the statement above should read like the statement below
Life is a dream full of happiness, the world had problems but no more
everyone is rich and no one is poor

We can't have peace without accepting others views
we may find them weird
we may find them strange
but a person isn't made up of one idea
they are made of many
one common ground, one common idea
starts a conversation
Tried something different, hope you like

Lived forever
Craig Harrison Aug 2014
How do I put this into words
I'm alive but not forever
I've lived and experienced so much
I've felt pain, sorrow, love, happiness
you name it I've felt it
I saw the beginning
the universes explosion
one day I'll watch it fizzle
I've lived forever
I've seen it all
witnessed amazing
felt everything
loved so much
cried, felt sorrow, pain
witnessed cruelty
saw the best and worst
I'll continue to age
witness so much
I've lived forever

Social
Craig Harrison Aug 2014
When I was a kid we played over the park
climbing trees, building tree houses
playing football, sometimes gutters
challenge strangers to a game
Tag, bulldog, hopscotch, pogs and more
paper ball fights, pillow fights, play fights
when I was a kid we made friends and stayed in touch
playing outside

When I was a teenager we played against our friends
websites, bebo, myspace, msn, yahoo, chatrooms
listened to new music, bands we never heard off
photos all the time plastering the web
when I was a teenager we played games like snake
trying to hold on to our child mind as we got older

In my early 20's, things changed
Myspace no more, we moved to Facebook
Selfies, more selfies and even more selfies
Youtube, Twitter, so many ways to make friends
stay in touch

Edging closer to late 20's
Snapchat, Instagram, Tinder, Whats app, Vine
so many ways to make friends
nearly 30 years, I've experienced so many ways to remain social

I miss those days, climbing the trees
because I could
running without a care in the world
no worries, to problems, favorite teachers, best friends
so many ways to be social
I had a way I wanted this to turn out in my head, well It's safe to say I failed, I hope you like it but if not I'll understand.. Thanks for reading

Contemplation
Craig Harrison Aug 2014
You asked a great question
Would anyone miss you if you were gone
If you slipped away in your sleep
if you took the knife from the draw
if you lay their bleeding to death
hanging grasping for air
would anyone care
you asked a great question
and the answer would be
I'd care
I'd miss you
because I love you

Meaning
Craig Harrison Aug 2014
What is the meaning of life?
why are we all here?
For millennia some of the greatest philosophers have tried to answer
but today, in this great age, the answer is still unknown
we all have a different answer when asked the question
what is the meaning of life

To live our dreams
to leave a legacy
to make the world a better place
to improve ourselves
to be happy
to explore
to learn
to feel

For millennia we've searched for an answer
the greatest question
what is the meaning of life

To me it means
evolve our minds
explore every emotion
see the world
learn always
forgive and love everyone

every single person on this great planet
everyone of the 7 billion plus people
will have asked and answered the question
what is the meaning of life?

Reading a book
Craig Harrison Aug 2014
I was out with my friends
couldn't believe what I saw,
in the corner
all alone
sat a woman
reading a book.
Don't know why
but I had to talk to her
I was nervous
but it didn't last
3 hours passed
before we realised the time
she was perfect
I found myself amazed by her
we left together
haven't looked back since

Armies fighting
throughout time
from bow and arrow
to bombs
one outcome as always remand the same
people die, children, men, women
life gets extinguished
without working towards peace
no one wins
war ends one way
people die, children, men, women

Land was taken
people were executed
revenge was sought
religions clashed
what ever the reason
what ever the excuses
one thing will never change
no one wins
people  die, animals die, we die

looking for our God, our heaven, our galactic neighbors
searching for answers, but finding more questions

pushing and pushing to explore
never giving up until we are no more
searching for answers, but always finding more questions

Change
Craig Harrison Jul 2014
Is hitting restart on our lives just a dream
do we really start again
out with the old and in with the new
we can try and change, but do people let us

Decorating an house is easy but what about something hard
like a change in personality
new hobbies, new friends, new dreams
do the people we know let us change

If you told your friends you developed a taste for opera
or maybe sky diving
would they accept you and let you change
or would they try to put you down to stop you.
We like to think that our friends would accept us no matter what
but if you completely changed you entire personality
would they accept or would they try to keep you the way you were.

Craig Harrison Jul 2014
I always thought I knew what love felt like
but I was wrong.
We started as friends but then it progressed
and then one day I realised I loved you.

I can't stop thinking about you, always on my mind
when I'm awake and when I'm asleep
I see you, your beauty from the first day we met
your eyes, your smile, your body
I want to get down and ask you the question
I want us to grow old and become parents together
I want us to be happy together forever
I want us to live our dreams and travel the world
I want to see your beautiful smile when I wake up

I thought I knew what love felt like
but I was wrong

I know that I love you

Real
Craig Harrison Jul 2014
What does virtual have over real
a virtual world can't give you realism
you can't run against the wind on a hot summers day
or go to the beach and play
you can't dig a giant hole and then get left upset because it's time to leave
you can't feel the snow hit your face, or the feeling of excitement when school is closed

you will never learn from the past if every time you fail you can reload
you'll never get that feeling when you first fall in love
you can't feel pleasure from eating a box of chocolates
or feel guilty for breaking your promise
In a virtual world you'll never get to feel surprise
or upset when someone breaks your heart
you'll never truly understand what it means to be a live

In a world where real is real and virtual is virtual
I would choose the real world with all its good and all its bad

Craig Harrison Jul 2014
Upon an house I once fell
old and worn but standing tall
I walked to the open door
shouting out if anyone was there
but no response, not that I could hear.

Dark hallway stood in front
with a flicker of light from the room to my right
a library I had entered
shelves of books, table and chair
with a photo of me standing their

The door I had come in through
shut behind me with a thunderous bang
making me jump but I was already scared

The candle light began to dim
picked up the photo I chose to do
who had been watching me, who took this
who's house were I standing in.

A voice I swear I did hear
"turn it over" a whispered voice called out
no one in the room with me
no electronic equipment I could see

I turned the photo, a message I did see
"You shouldn't have entered, your trapped like me"
I ran towards the door, too creepy an house, to weird an owner
but the door was gone, vanished it be
the candle flickered and finally went and in the darkness came the voice
"You shouldn't have entered, your trapped like me"
I tried something different here but I don't think it worked out right, what do you think.

This was inspired by The Raven written by the great Edgar Allan Poe

Water 2.0
Craig Harrison Jul 2014
As the rain falls and the rivers run filling the oceans for life to be born
traveling for miles and hundreds of years
or existing as our tears
the water we drink, the showers we take, the pleasure we take from swimming

Hydrogen and Oxygen mixed together
but the water we have won't last forever
the rains still fall
the oceans get bigger
but one day in the future
the sun will glow and glow, the ozone will go
Water will dry, deserts will expand
but life will kick on
The most important thing in our lives
will be gone
This is actually a rewrite to a poem I wrote last year called water which if you'd like you can check out here

Questions
Craig Harrison Jul 2014
How many generations have said the same things
"I want the best for my child"
"I'm not my parents"
"I want a better future for my kids"
"In my generation we did this"
"Don't blame me it was how I was brought up"

Well I ask
do you feel like you got the best?
is it so bad if you are your parents?
if so, how did you turn into them?
do you feel like you've got a good future?
do you wish you could learn you own mistakes or do you value the generational advice?
Do you think that a person should know right from wrong despite how they were brought up?

Wrong
Craig Harrison Jul 2014
I woke up once in a very strange world
I thought it was the past, or maybe a parallel universe
but I was wrong.
All around me I saw some stupid things
People been killed for their religious beliefs
gay marriage illegal, people been killed for been gay
freedom of speech limited
people not knowing what equal rights are
the rich getting everything while the poor get nothing
crime everywhere, criminals walking free
torture, suppression, bullying, hatred, killing, PERSECUTION
accused witches burned alive
governments killing civilians
War after war after war

I was wrong, this isn't the past or a parallel universe
this is our Earth, our time
This is happening right now!

Life
Craig Harrison Jul 2014
Once there was nothing, no time, nothing
but something strange happened
there was a birth, it's very old now
we call it the Universe

The Universe had many children
all of different shapes, sizes, colors but all very beautiful
we call them Galaxies

Those Galaxies aged and had children of their own
called solar systems and they had children called planets
and those planets had children called life

Billions of years passed
that life had children called machines
but everything that as a beginning as an end
and the machines malfunctioned
the life died out
planets were destroyed
solar systems perished
galaxies fell apart
and the Universe continued to age, watching as its children died
not able to save them, not able to do anything.

As time drifted by the Universe got sick
been eaten away by a virus called Black holes
destroying everything the Universe had left
and eventually dieing
Based on the multiverse theory which I believe in, there is the probability that one universe somewhere will never die and all life will live on. Maybe just maybe it will be this universe

What If
Craig Harrison Jul 2014
What if,
We were alien
we don't really exist
we talk to our self when we think we talking to someone
would we ever know if our mind was playing tricks

What if,
we knew everything but suffer some form of dementia
the universe in really the size of a football
we all look like bugs
we're all dead
What if the universe only began when you were born
what if time was altered and before today you never existed
What if everything we ever thought was true
was actually a lie.
Ask yourself, what if?
and would you ever know, really!

Craig Harrison Jul 2014
Lying awake staring at the clock as it ticks down
another day coming to an end.
A day spent asking and wondering
Will I?

Will I die alone,
I've spent years questioning my own life
my own existence
but one question I cannot for see an answer for is
Will I?

Every minute of every hour of everyday
just more time off my life
closer till the day I die
Another day where
Wishes haven't come true.
I don't wish for much
happiness for all
happiness for ME

Jesus
Craig Harrison Jul 2014
A brave man once stood
fighting for what he believed to be true
it took an army to silence him
but his message lives on

He came into this world as a miracle
tough on his parents even tougher on him
I question, did he know how his end would come.
From the moment of his birth he was gifted
but later in life his gifts would change everything

If he was only a man then what a man
he deserves our respect not our hatred
2000 years have passed and we are still waiting for him to return
he died for our sins, so sad, so very sad
I question, does everyone deserve his sacrifice.

It brings a tear to my eye
whipped
stabbed
tortured
killed
to much for anyone to bare
he didn't deserve it
especially for only refusing to back down on his beliefs
I question, did he have anything good in his life
I hope he did.

I'm sorry
I'm your friend
I'd protect you
I love you
you truly were amazing

If you wasn't the son of God
then you deserve more credit than you get
we don't know what really happened
but dieing for our sins is an amazing sacrifice

I'M SORRY
YOU DESERVED BETTER

What is love
Craig Harrison Jul 2014
What is love?
I think it's a virus
infecting so many people
and yet so many are immune.
Left untreated it can lead to a broken heart.
What is love?

We act like it no longer means anything
but we feel it
for friends, family, pets or that special someone,
arguments cause us pain
it can hurt more than we thought, a broken heart

WHAT IS LOVE?
I THINK IT'S A VIRUS
Craig Harrison Jul 2014
Walking around like a pack of animals
Following each other
copying what we see,
What really separates us from animals?

We talk, we think, we try to explain
but we also follow, we do as we told, we believe what is said
We work, we build, we have fun
but I'm still not seeing what truly separates us from animals

The only thing that I see different is our power
anything different we try to hurt, **** or experiment on
if any animal behaved like a human
what do you think we would do to it?
We'd experiment, we'd ****, we would torture
or put it on TV and turn it in to a celebrity.

So I ask what truly separates us from animals?

I'm not scared to admit I've never met anyone like you before
Someone so surprising, so caring and loving
I don't know how but I can't get you out of my mind
which is now filled with thoughts of you.

When I'm with you, no matter how short the time spent
everyone else in the room disappears,
I don't hear or see anyone else, only you.
I've reached a point where I no longer know what to do
I don't know how but I can't get you out of my mind
which is now filled with thoughts of you.

In the near future certain events may pull us apart
I may never see you again
but I will try everything to keep you in my life

Surprising
Craig Harrison Jul 2014
In a world of over 7billion people you'd be amazed by the amount of variety
but sadly most people are similar deep down
we have the same desires
hopes, dreams
most of us spend the weekends the same way
the majority of us like films
so on a large scale we are unique but on a smaller scale we are the same

In a world of over 7billion people
I would have thought more people would hold my attention, that they would surprise me
so when I do meet someone that catches me off guard
someone that is truly unique, someone that surprises me I do my best to keep them in my life
I trust them completely
and I will always be their for them.
Not many people but all my best friends started out as someone that caught my attention and surprised me.

People that surprise me, I try to keep in my life
I'm a friend to everyone but my best friends surprise me.

That little voice
Craig Harrison Jul 2014
Does anyone else have that little voice
the one at the back of the mind that tells you to say something
or sometimes you shouldn't have.
The voice that tells you, you made a mistake,
well I have that voice all the time
some people call it the conscious, well mine hates me
I always make a mistake in his eyes.

I shouldn't have said this
I shouldn't have sent the friend request
don't give them your number
quit, go on quit
I'm never good enough for that little voice
I always make mistakes.

One day this week the little voice told me this
You're not good enough
you won't ever get anywhere
hey loser your going to be stuck in the friend zone forever
don't send that friend request
what ever you do don't give them your number.
you idiot, what did I just tell you
you can't do it, you are going to fail
she's out of your league
ha,ha,ha,ha,ha you hurt yourself
hey guess what, they don't like you, no one does.
You see that person over there well they going to **** you
hey Craig don't delude yourself you will never ever be good enough for anyone.
Why do you even bother waking up in the morning
don't talk to that person, they don't like you, hell I don't like you
don't do it, don't you dare do it.
I told you not to talk to her, you always do the same thing and now she's going to hurt you.
Craig, hey Craig, you ****.
Your going to hell, you will never escape, you will never be forgiven, you will rot in hell.

That little voice in my head, it might hate me, and when I was younger I might have listened to it, but not anymore, I am not the voice, I am me. It might be right, the things the little voice says might be right but I don't care, I like who I am, I'm always improving and on my death bed I will have no issues with who I turned out to be.

Certain things
Craig Harrison Jul 2014
A long time ago I learned there were certain things I couldn't do
I always thought if someone else could do something then so could I.
I was wrong
I could never swim the English channel because I have a fear of drowning
I could never be as confident as some
I could never ask the nice girl out
I understand I'm shy and lack the confidence that stops me from doing certain things.

I don't like to give up, if I set my sight on something I usually complete it
but there are certain things that make me give up
certain things I can't do
I can't do more than my best, it's impossible but for some it's not enough
I can be the greatest friend to someone but never anything more
I lack the confidence, I lack the necessary skills, abilities, personality to do certain things.

I don't like to give up but there are certain things I just can't do, so giving up might be my only option left no matter how much I wish I don't.

If life was a day

If life was a day
I'd wake up kicking and screaming
opening my eyes to the world for the first time
seeing and meeting strange people
by 9am I'd be in my 20's and in my prime
but not for long before the day made me tired

By midday I would be wasting my life savings
buying a new car, holidays and fancy clothes
for I would have entered my midlife crisis
What had started out as a long day
was coming to an end quicker than I realised

The day would roll on and by late evening
I'd be a grandad, spoiling my family
spending what I had left to enjoy the time I had left
As I would struggle up the stairs
longing for my bed
the day would be nearing its end
11:59pm time for me to fall asleep
never waking up
never seeing tomorrow
That's what it would be like
If life was a day

The world lied to us
Craig Harrison Jun 2014
As I've aged I learned one important thing
the world lied to us
No perfect Christmases
No perfect relationships
No happy ever afters
The world lied to us

Our hopes and dreams
our search for the perfect thing
built up on lies
We've dreamed about our perfect weddings
our perfect days
our perfect homes
but none of it is real
The world lied to us

Our friendships end just like they began
relationships crumble like a house of cards
our hopes change more than our wardrobe
Everything we were told
everything we dreamed and hoped for
all built on lies

Caring what others think
worrying if they are angry at us
thinking about them in times of need

ALL POINTLESS

they don't care what we think
they never worry about us
they never think about how we are

AS I'VE AGED I LEARNED ONE IMPORTANT THING
THE WORLD LIED TO US

Retirement
Craig Harrison Jun 2014
Working for our future
putting our money away
ready and waiting for our retirement day

Businesses closing
banks shutting
The world in recession
Pensions cutting
Working all our life
Never living free
I'll end up working until the day I die
you wait and see

No more money
It's all gone
Giving up our futures one by one
putting our money away
ready and waiting for our retirement day

UFO
Out of no where thunder roared
lighting struck
buildings shook
Looking up at the darkened sky
something was flying high
A ship of unknown design
piercing through the clouds.
The greatest question had been answered
ARE WE ALONE?

Beauty
Craig Harrison Jun 2014
Wind blowing, leaves falling
In the woods I am walking
Birds chirping, squirrels digging
Not stopping my mind from wandering

Fashion walks, beach resorts
Nice weather, beautiful people
City breaks, country retreats
Exotic animals, spiders and snakes

Mona Lisa, The last supper
Beautiful art, beautiful mind
Excellent artists are hard to find

Beautiful things everywhere
open your eyes, happiness is right their

Darkness fell
Craig Harrison Jun 2014
Out of no where darkness fell
no clouds
no stars
no sound
only moon light remained
for those living on the ground.

with no light we couldn't see
only shadows standing in front of me
not of human shape
but standing tall
my legs froze, no way for me to escape.

Out of the darkness
came more shadows
no sound
no light
a figure not resembling human shape
questions swam around my head, will this be my final night
with my legs frozen, my body shaking
I was scared, but I knew I'd have to fight.

Like going blind, I was in complete darkness
moon light behind me started to fade
I was surrounded, they got closer
A face, so horrible, so ugly
what was it, what did they want.
As they got closer and closer
they spoke, 4 words
only 4 little words
but they scared me so much
they said
THIS WORLD IS OURS

The End

nothing as changed in my eyes

and World War 1
What else is needed to say about this decade
nothing changed as the human race lived on

The great depression
and prohibition

1930's we had
Bonnie and Clyde
Hindenburg disaster
Discovery of Pluto

Mount Rushmore completed
Big bang theory formulated
Israel founded
Nothing changed but who knew

Korean War began
History never changed and neither will the Human Race

1960's we had
The rise of the Berlin wall
First man on the moon
Vietnam War
Nothing changed and won't any time soon

1970's we had
First test tube baby
Tangshan Earthquake

No Title
Craig Harrison Jun 2014
When I was younger
I looked at my window
and saw an escape.
A chance to get away from this hell
a way to end it all, my life wasn't going to well.

As I aged
I developed attachments to fictional characters
filling a void created by how I felt.
A fear of death stopped certain acts
and the feeling of happiness disappeared.

Today I cry to sleep,
lying to those closest to me,
hiding how I really feel
not happy but sad.
I get emotionally pressured into doing things for others,
I have very little sleep.
My heart rate increases at any disturbing noise.
The happiness I felt as a child is now buried deep.

Gradually things have been getting harder.
Dealing with friends and family,
trying to remain stable and sound minded
my mind fighting but is left divided.
Do I keep fighting and searching for that happiness
or do I give up and allow time to do its damage?

Locked eyes
touching lips
an act so beautiful
or so ugly

making love
having ***
different names
different reasons
different positions

vaginal, oral, **** or *******
Trying for a baby
wanting some fun
don't have time, so make it quick
or have a moment alone
what ever your reasons
what ever positions
take precautions

Condoms
Tests
Pills
One act can turn into a lifetime mistake
what ever your reasons
what ever you positions
stay safe
Although in the title it says only read if over 18 if anyone under 18 reads this, if you are having or thinking of having *** remember although at the time it can be amazing the feeling doesn't last.

A serious STD can not be cured and could/will ruin your life

Babies might seem cute but you know those days when you like to sleep in, well you can say goodbye to those for a about 13 years maybe longer

Trying to explain to your parents that you are pregnant/going to be a dad is the same as telling them you are dropping out of school

Giving children up for adoption will seem like a good idea at the time but you will eventually always wonder what they are up to, who are they etc

The person you are having *** with might just tell his/her friends and then gossip spreads which may lead to some bullying.

It's better to stay safe than take the risk
unless you're a risk taker then in that case go sky diving, shark swimming, rock climbing out doors, etc.

Judgement
Craig Harrison Jun 2014
******, so much ******
Hatred, so much hatred
all that anger
how could you be so cruel
cause so much hurt and pain

Stress, so much stress
Crime, so much crime
all that death
how could you be so mean
cause so much destruction

Dieing, so many dieing
Sick, so many sick
all that sadness
how could you eat while so many die of hunger
cause so many reasons to be hated

BUT

Potential, so much potential
Love, so much love
all that technology
how did you create something so beautiful
cause so much happiness

Charity, so much charity
Money, so much money
all that intelligence
how did you answer that
cause so much variety

People, so many people
life, so much life
all that water
how did you survive all those wars
cause so much love

Hope, so much hope
Caring, so many caring
Brave, so many brave
Limits, so many being broken
Relationships, so many being created

Earthling
Craig Harrison Jun 2014
Do you
breath oxygen
cry when in pain
smile if happy
laugh when you hear something funny
dance while listening to music alone
If so then so do I

Do you
Dream of better things
hope for change
fall in to a category
If so then so do I

Which are you
Crazy, weird, normal
straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender
male, female, other
English, Asian, Mexican, Other
the only category that counts is that you are an Earthling
you were born here
might even die here
but so was I
so will I

The things that are important to you
are important to me
Love, hope, family etc
you are an Earthling
so am I
Not my best

Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed it, if you have any questions please ask them and I will try to answer them a.s.a.p.

Feel
Craig Harrison Jun 2014
The laughter of a baby
the feeling of wind on a hot summers day
letting our hair down and being a little crazy
getting lost and then finding your way
things that make us feel better

Arguments with loved ones
just missing the last bus home
not able to control our daughters or sons
things that make us angry

winning a prize
finding new love
starving all day then eating some french fries
seeing the world from above
things that make us happy

What makes us feel is different for everyone
I hope you liked this poem because I'm done
