You Know?
Jackson Bussey Oct 2020
My most complex
Terrifying
Heartbreaking thoughts
Are always followed
by a question,
You know?

Jawbreaker
Jackson Bussey Oct 2020
A human jawbreaker
With a layer for every occasion
And a center just for you.

Lint
Jackson Bussey Sep 2020
How many people
Think of me
As a piece of lint
In their memories
A thought with no disdain
Just wondering
How I got in there.
Nostalgia is one of the strangest feelings.

Chains
Jackson Bussey Sep 2020
Even If i tied
The strongest chains
To everyone I have ever loved
Everyone who I have let in and told them "you belong here"
Eventually the chains would break
And I would lose them
We aren't meant to be kept
We are meant to love, and be loved
And then, vanish.

Dew
Jackson Bussey Sep 2020
Dew
The morning dew shines a crystal blue
A mirrored sky welcomes a fresh dawn
Worries from yesterday lie behind us
Bask in the weightlessness of a new day.
An old poem, one I wrote ages ago that I suddenly remembered.

Moonlight
Jackson Bussey Sep 2020
The Moon is home to those lost in the night
We are drawn to her like moths
In the glow of her pale light
The world feels soft
And welcoming
Suddenly I understand
Details that daylight cannot expose
Only Moonlight.
I wonder why so many people write poems and songs about the moon.

Question
Jackson Bussey Sep 2020
My poems
The question
Do I write to fill?
Or to empty?
A question better left unanswered.
I think writing can suit any need, some days I yearn for something else and I write about that, but some days I find that there is something in me that I can only get out if I write it on a page. Maybe that is where poems come from.

Today
Jackson Bussey Sep 2020
A golden day today shall be
The clouds are dark
The sky is bleak
Winds blow cold
They bite me deep
A golden day it is indeed!
Maybe there is something to be said about perspective, I have always been skeptical about such things, but maybe my days would be better if I just told myself they were good.

Nature
Jackson Bussey Sep 2020
My Emotions are close to nature
It listens to my laughter and feels the drips of my happy tears
And responds with warmth and light
Yet it also hears my gasping sobs
It listens closely and sometimes
Hears nothing
And even on those empty days
Where I give it nothing
It still gives me a sunset
With colors close to my heart
A gentle reminder that it is still there
Listening.
I often write my poems to help me process emotions, today has been a bad day, and right now the weather outside reflects it, but I also know in a few hours there will be a beautiful sunset. and things will begin to feel a little better.

Wind
Jackson Bussey Sep 2020
On the wind carried a Satyr's song
Which drove my heart to further long
For the time when her eyes would lock with mine
And my world was blinded by their pristine shine
For a flash the world held only us
Until the wind blew another gust
And reluctantly I moved on
Searching for another song.
