Two candles, side by side,
Arms of thread—their aid—
Wrapped around as they hug,
Gracious flames of burning shrug.

Two candles, side by side,
They burned and radiated light.
Hesitance grew as they stood;
They burned their thread—passionate mood.

One cried, the other raged.
Flames engulfed the fabric red.

A burning heart, in between, laid.

Glory to the light they drew.

This moment is just a dream,
An illusion of a greater being
And once the cold death
Gave us it's warm embrace
We will fall into silence
As we wake up to see the reality.

If so, then why plague your mind with worry?
If this is just a dream, then why are you experiencing it in tragedy
When you can easily make it into comedy.

She wakes up every morning
with a frown on her face
as he stumbles from his bed
and into a chair that
he will never get out of-
there is tension in the air
as she downs another
exclaiming, "bottoms up"
when it makes her glass world
shatter
at the rise of a cup

All he can do is watch the pieces
as they become pronounced
while the shift of retreating cats
induces a pitter-patter
and more pictures fade out;
the happy memories
now stained
from her cigarette smoke
to ensure they'll die together,
yet somehow alone

He is cursed with a disease
that has rendered him pitiful
but alcohol doesn't care,
she drinks another swig,
becoming more cyclical
and deems the man’s hindrance
as sinful

Stuttering, he can't escape
a liquid she's drowned him with
by pouring it into her own veins-
maybe it's better this way,
to watch the walls as they cave in

What else can he do
as he slowly degrades
from Parkinson's?

I wish i could open up a bottle
and bring myself right back into the times
when i saw you as God, and myself a prophet,
and crawled to your house on the broken glass
of the bottles I'd had, so often, before.

It's such a novelty -
not dragging my bleeding self across the floor,
not seeing, in that trail of red, the springing stems
of hemlock breaking ground, to prove my loyalty
to yet another God who has abandoned men.

/in the jacket of evening mist
i hear vagabonds eating rats.
I remember when being missed
felt like getting a dose of crack./

When choosing to live loved or be dismissed,
i now think that i should have picked the latter,

/there's no misfortune when it comes to fate/

for love is just another form of cancer
that you would only find when it's too late.

Tragedy...
A friend that needs companion
An illness that takes every piece of me
A feeling so familiar
Nothing now seems peculiar.

An acquaintance to abuse
A fiend addicted to the misuse
A misery I create on my own
Confirmation bias - my mind seeks this frown

A friend I don’t need, a foe I can't evade,
Yet peace I've made with your embrace.
A beautiful tragedy, laid bare in place
how we broke

we were made

for each other
like the flower
blooms

the formula of life was written

to the aridness of the dark

to give death

for I know it then

It's strange what life can be when we forget how to persist in what's important, and remain faithful to all of those whom we love who are important, regardless of what they do or what they mean to us due to what they've done.

Click your heels, darling—
red as fresh-spilled secrets,
lacquered in the longing
of a girl caught between worlds.

The shoes gleam under studio lights,
a crimson promise, a whispered lie.
Tread lightly—the yellow bricks burn,
hot as stage-lamp sunbursts.

Magic is a contract signed in dust—
not fairy dust, but the kind that coats lungs,
turns breath to wheezing lullabies,
fills dreams with silver-flecked scars.

The witch shrieks, fire swallows her whole—
the flames don’t wait for cut.
She vanishes, but the burns stay,
seeping beneath the green of her skin.

The Tin Man rattles, hollow but breathing,
lungs stiff with powdered metal.
His tears are made of oil now,
his smile a polished afterthought.

Toto limps off set, paw trembling—
no curtain call for the crushed.
The monkeys drop like fallen stars,
wires snapping mid-flight.

And Judy—oh, Judy—
her laughter is stitched together,
a patchwork of amphetamines and exhaustion,
eyes wide as if searching for Kansas
but only finding the next scene.

Still, the shoes sparkle.
Still, they tell you to click.
Because every girl wants to go home—
even when home is a fairytale
built on broken bones.

but the magic is only real if you believe.
This poem was inspired by the tragedies underlying The Wizard of Oz—because there is a very hidden suffering beneath that magic. From disastrous injuries on set to the exploitation of Judy Garland, the film’s glamour was built on real-life suffering. The red heels transform into a haunting symbol — not only of escape, but of the price of illusion.
a chipped porcelain doll
on a velvet swing
(one eye staring blankly

and cheap perfume

chalk outlines of angels
on a dance floor sticky
with spilled champagne

I fell asleep, reading E.E. Cummings 'i carry your heart with me'.  I always liked this poem.  and I dreamt of my GF, the plans for the future, and how like the poem, I carry her with me.
But then I started to dream of the past, the heartache, the struggles, the disillusion.  When I woke, it was to "I write sins, not tragedies"
This poem (sonnet of sorts), is my attempt at a Cummingsesque style, incorporating the dream, and the lyrics that inspired this piece.
