Elina T Rose Nov 6
in a world of blue and purple, I bled for the shade of red
in a world of blue and purple, I made everything black
what I touch dies, and my love always lacks
amber was the fire of your heart, and gray was my vision
hurt was what I inflicted in it, I learned from the bests so I had precision
your fire burned out when my lies kicked in
my vision cleared only when your eyes died within
pale was the color of my skin but warmer with your kiss
rose were my lips but cold my half truths, I brought shame into this
drinks in the glasses, but everything else was spilled
flowers bloomed, and flowers were killed
spring was the dawn, but I made leaves fall down

spring was the dawn, but fall was the season
I was the reason I was the reason
frost was the color, and what came after the storm
cold was the outside, but your hands used to make it warm

mauve was the world before I even drowned in my crimson blood sea
teal was my heart just like the skies before I made your sun sink

in a world of blue and purple, you made everything heal
in a world of blue and purple, you bled for my sake
your touch nourished, while all I did caused heartache
you made it four seasons while I was stuck in one
fall was the season, but spring was the dawn
lilac was the sunset before indigo bled into the day
night was moonless, and stars kept fading away
scarlet was the fire I set in your heart
ashes, what was left, and smokes clouded a new start
tears flowed in, and salt streams burned all the roots
died all the emerald lands, we had to call truce
spring was the dawn, rain pouring down

spring was the dawn, but fall the season
I was the reason I was the reason
drought was what came after the sapphire seas dried
cracked were my lips, after your ruby flames died

violet was the world before I even drained myself of my carmine blood
teal was my heart just like the seas that used to flood.

you said things that shook me
you said things that hooked me
still i am left with my loneliness
confusion is haunting, confusion is taunting
praying you once again hold this
you did things that stuck with me
words spoken still rattle inside
i rewrite, i relive every line
i feel fine until daylight strikes
praying you once again hold this

Clouds on the bedroom floor.

It isn't anything.
Maybe it's everything.
Seeing it all.
The waves.
Midnight.
While you're still here.
Feel like ****.
Pictographs.
Written cloth.
Sidewalk in Perth.
Headphones.
for every reason.

Teal like aluminum foil,

Bleeding gums, spitting blood

Red as lipstick stains

Left on paper cups of coffee,

Melting the way chocolates do

Cracked knuckles from

Too many seaside winters,

Rich cocoa skin like leather

Mouth filling with soap bubbles,

Teal like synesthesia.
Wearing my shirt
Under your sweatshirt...
That pretty shade of teal
I don't know how I feel

You look good,
And great,
And even with your hood,
You're not second rate

You look beautiful
My beautiful
You look amazing,
Darling

My teal hair
The perfect color
A clash from my sea green eyes
And ivory skin
Attention seeps into my skin
I want to change everything
Everything about me
This year has been a change
Let's end it
With a bang.

deep purple
mauve maybe
in the month of may
diving
swimming
blue navy blue
turquoise grey teal and green
earth green like mushroom
dirt brown
black as ash
grey as it too
gray grey
gray grey
soft not a whisper never yells either
don't tell me what to do though
or how to see
i have eyes and my ears
are alive and my cats stretch and my coffee is burnt and my roommate
is gone and i
am singing
and i see the strings and hear the room and they are not yelling no one is yelling or whispering or hushing up or talked over because i am alone.
why did you assume i am sad, then?
i am not.

I  grabbed the teal towel
Your naked body had been wrapped in last
Used your slimming bar of soap
Conditioned my armpit hair like you do

I even swirled shampoo in the palm of my hand
Because today is my first shower without you

My back will not get washed
Your wash cloths will stay folded
Still on top of the glazed porcelain
And only one lofa will get sudsy and wet

I think i'd rather ferment in my own sweat
One: Smokey grey; the kind that blurs your vision or gathers in corners of ceilings that are somehow still not as high as you.
Two: The teal that masked the bedroom walls of my old home; the bedroom with nothing but a mattress on the floor and my unplugged television. I was eco-friendly, which leads me to
Three: Green: any and all greens. Mother Nature makes it obvious she loves its hues, and I strive to be one with this Earth.
Four: Whether fueled by anger or love, give me rose-colored shades and I'll rock 'em with grace and style like none before. My red blood boils with passion.
Five: Making concrete decisions is not my forte, so choosing a final favorite will leave me second guessing. Combine all the options and give me a rainbow, because when we see a color, it is actually that color being reflected while all the other colors are absorbed. They work together, as we should. You bring the crayons and I'll bring the blank canvas, let's paint the world rainbow together.
The president of my college's Poetry Club recently said to me, "This is a little random, but what are your five favorite colors? Please be as specific and poetic as possible." Naturally, I wrote more than just a list of colors.
