How I handle my rejection?
I wink at them,
As I know they can't handle
My attitude ;)
Amy Perry Dec 2016
The heart can heal all.
That's why we fear
Opening it up
For a fickle other.
We can lose our
Best chance at
Self-defense.

I don't fear
The break,
So I send mine
On a plate.
Recipients are
Used to games.
I am, however,
Fiercely straight-forward,
With self-confidence
Coated in
Uncertainty. Vanity. Candy.
Recipients simply run from me.

This is why I focus on me,
Expired of all of my romances.
Thankful Universe gave us chances
To quickly flee the scene
Before the heart dances.
Lonesome creatures are courageous.
Angela Bridgman Dec 2016
Born was I, in Illinois
Daddy thought, his little boy
My true self forced forever to hide
Feelings inside could not be denied
Daddy lost not thru death but rejection
Failed to live up to his expectation

Seething anger made me blind
Vowed never to look behind
Brokenhearted by his rebuff
Made my way resolved to be tough
Never could forgive him for my pain
Never to see my Daddy again

April the first, Daddy died
No one more surprised than I
When at his deathbed I cried
Daddy hooked up to tubes and wires
No longer could hold anger's fires

This is the moment we must seize
Daddy, forgive and love me please
He took my hand and gave a squeeze
Daddy's Little Girl I wanted to be
Twenty minutes was all the time had we
In memory of my father, Thomas Bridgman, April 16, 1947 - April 1, 1999.

The storm argues, the professing innocent sky
The angry drunk of lightning, grieving grey bruises on the clouds
Leaving Her too weak to do anything but cry

Hoping the blue she once knew might return

In the last of her efforts she stretches color,
Arking over the abuse of the sky

In an effort of promise, to love once again

Knotted hair tangling round my face
I finally learned to kneel in the sand
No more squatting:
embrace the grime,
feel alive,
build a sandcastle &
knock it down
dig a hole &
fill it in
Summer futility

This July,
I broke and
was punished for it
like waves scorning
the sand castle for shrinking into
the beach when the ocean comes pounding
the little girls crying cause
her castle is gone

the little girl curses
the waves not the castle so
why cant you see how I crumbled:
washed away, not washed up
some days I wish I could sink
into the sand and listen to
the waves crash
forever

I can't stop thinking how
my body curved into itself
I screamed and cried -back rounded
like the curve of the waves that had beaten me
I pushed back and no one forgave me
Just wanted someone to rebuild me
and give me a moat this time but
instead I'm drowning
in myself

Alone at sea
I can't see the horizon
It feels like I am the wave
and the castle all at once
No body stays for
more than just a
crashing moment

I'm stuck alone
barely floating, nearly sinking
Just want to hit  the ocean floor where
water dances tango with the sandy floor
no destruction or fallen sand castles
just harmony

I've let my walls down
Only to have it resurrected because of you

I came here in hopes of a brighter future
Only to find so much darkness

I told you truths no one believed thinking you'd understand and accept
Rather than deny and pretend it was fake

I took your betrayal and hoped you would come to see the truth
But you stayed in denial, forcing me to join you along the way

I let you through my walls
Hoping you'd help me rebuild my surrendered soul but you left me even more broken

I can only rebuild my walls
Because I alone may never be able to fix what's inside these walls

Stopped talking since the day I wrote her in my phone,
Not even talking to my friends, I hope they leave me alone,
I wasn't worthy then and I'm not worthy now to the throne,
To the be the king of her heart,
Is this how my life starts?,
I got bad memories of things I do not wanna remember,
But this one of when it was me and her cuddled in December,
She needed someone and I was there cause nobody would linger,
Like thanks for ******* Me Over,
You and all your friends got quite older...

Have you ever had so much love for the person that you thought
Was gonna see this through to the end with you?
Have you ever wanted nothing more to worship the ground that
They walked on everyday praising their issues?
Have you ever wanted so much happiness and future plans for
Seeing kids that might or might not exist?
If you give up on me now , this never happens and I'll be traumatized
With wanting to be all over you..
Palms sweatin',
Feet cold and,
Body shakin',
Just to let you know and',
Eyes twitchin',
Mouth dry',
Walking to you,
I can't tell my legs,
But I'll be good If you say yes....

Me: Hey
Her: Hey what's up.......what's wrong,
Me: I have something to tell you,
Her: Sure , Anything From You,
Me: Listen ...um..I know that we've been friends for how long?
Her: 3 years haha , Me: yes 3 ...... And I wanna be able for us to
Have more years,
Her: What Are You Saying right now , is something wrong?
Me: No it's .....just I've holding this in since 9th grade..and I
Feel that it's only right if I tell you now,
Her: Sure , I guess,
Me: You're always so loyal , And you've always been there when
I had no one , my Best friend , the person I love more than anything,
Ive had a bad life coming up towards this moment and I just wanna
Create better ones with you, So I ask ....will you my girlfriend?
Her: Um... Wow...I don't know what to say............... How can I say this
without breaking our friendship?
Me: What ?tell me...
Her: I already found someone...............and I love him...
Me:..............
Her: I'm sorry (Walks Away).

Freedom is a natural right
Those who take it are criminals.
No excuse is good enough,
And every occurrence is evil.
Some try to tell you a big lie
That it is all for the better good.
If you fall for this brand of talk
Your head must be solid wood.

Knock on wood
Step on a crack
Try to get your dignity back
After you sold
Your own soul.
You are totally lost
You’re stuck in a hole.

Too many of us live inside a
Bankrupt daily existence.
We all work hard pay bills
And offer no resistance
To those who change rules
That never hurt themselves.
They only worry about their wealth
And never about anyone else.

Knock on wood
Step on a crack
Try to get your dignity back
After you sold
Your own soul.
You are totally lost
You’re stuck in a hole.

No, it doesn’t have to be this way
We can stand up and fight back.
We can change the twisted laws;
Get ourselves onto the right track.
But that means we cannot accept
The dangerous fear of status quo.
We have realize that this is not
The way things just have to go.

Knock on wood
Step on a crack
Try to get your dignity back
After you sold
Your own soul.
You are totally lost
You’re stuck in a hole.
