Now I lay me down to sleep
Remembering the day
While up the stairs he'll slowly creep
And soon I'll be his prey

First I shall hear a sound
and venture out to find the source
Once the terrible hunter is found
I'll run, then scream, then trip (of course)

From this forest I was forbidden
Staying safe from nature, sweet yet cruel
But no matter how hard I try to stay hidden
The hunter shall always rule

As I looked into his cold, dead eyes
I silently prepared for my demise
Constructive criticism welcomed.

I lay here pondering
the thoughts in my head.
Casting a disaster
or crazy instead.

I wish my life was a movie,
I'd cut the last scene.
Which dead actor would play?
Make it James Dean

I am a rebel,
without any cause.
Seeking fame and fortune
Did I lose it all?

Maybe, its a comedy,
as tragic as can be.
Make it John Belushi.
NO. Stung by the bee.

Was it a romance
or a bit of drama?
I died in your arms,
it brought back some karma.

My life's not a movie,
it's only a dream.
God wrote the wrong script,
CUT!!
THIS ONE ISN'T FOR ME!!

It’s like lines from a movie
the kind where all goes well
The scenery doesn’t matter
as they look at each other
and know it is all real

Happiness is here but joy is all I feel
When you open up the door for me
I see the future I hope to be
It is all meant for you and for me.

Meanwhile we’re making up our time
In-between these movie lines…..
Wrote this for my husband...then by boyfriend for his birthday. Since we live on a small island and our movie theater is closed most of the year until summer, we love to rent movies on cold windy nights. We also did not live together until we were married and I didn't have a TV so he was always opening the door for me to come watch a movie with him. Plus he has proved to be a constant gentleman even today.

Hey, Ole Sport. Nice to see your face again.
Life and love! Isn't it wonderful!? Strange too
I suppose. But you're still here.. Why? The ones
Who loved me the most, Daisy.. the ones from my
Parties. They left.. But not you.
Did you not love me? Or is it something else?
Should I finish it? Maybe I'll write a response poem.. Should I?

You
I found comfort in the way you looked at me
while you spoke
and while you were silent

I loved the smell of your car
because it smelled so much like you
and your expensive cologne

You would trace hearts on my hand
while you held it
and close your eyes when I touched your face

You held me while I cried
during the sad part of the movie

When I think of the moment you left
I remember all the reasons why you had stayed
and cannot think of one reason
why you would want to go

Because why would you want to leave someone
that you thought was so beautiful?

Is that a frown I put upon your face child?
As I tried to soothe the sadness that smiled on your inside
That festered like pathogens inside your heart
Is that your index finger?
Sitting inquisitively on your lip?
I see the distraction in your whirlpools of corneas
Your hair lays insecurely on your shoulder blades
Let me console you with a joke
Pacify your placidity with these sad bars
You pick up your phone.
You read your texts.
Oh?
Is that a smile I put upon your face, child?

At the end of the show
After the final theme, there is another song
For nobody to hear but the ones expecting
there will be something else
After the last flicker
of the projector's light

As the music fades out, the screen is turning blank
Nothing is left but eyes, locked into a last gaze

At the end of the show
After the ending theme, a song plays for no one
Two voices, harmonies still ringing in my ears
Slightly out of tempo
Chords on the minor scale
Stop before the chorus

As the music fades out, the screen is turning blank
Nothing's left but the room, and the ghost of a tune

As the music fades out, it's the end of the show
But the show must go on,
but the show must go on.
