makes you dangerous.

You can get in a mood where you’re so sad that you think you’ll never be happy again
Or be so happy you think you’ll never be sad again.

Sometimes you will feel very insecure and think little of yourself
Sometimes things will happen, and you will blame yourself

You will believe that you’ll never go anywhere in life
Compare yourself to others too much and wish you were more alike

And I know that these are not the only things that will challenge you through life,
So please dear friend listen well, I have some things that you should know.

Your parents are not always right about you
You are defined by you and your choices

Don’t compare yourself to anyone else, they are different than you.
Different doesn’t mean bad, Autumn colour trees are nice, but so are flowery fields.

It’s okay to ask for help, it doesn’t make you weak in any way.

You will go places. You have a chance at a great future. Stay alive and see what it is

Other people will make choices that will hurt you. But it doesn’t mean it’s your fault.

You are amazing. You’re a good person
You can do that thing you’re scared of.
You won’t fail like you think you will
No one is judging you as much as you think
Your friends don’t hate you
Your music is cool
You clothes are nice
Your smile is pretty
Life will make sense
Good people exist
High school isn’t that scary
You will love yourself
You will feel loved
You will be lost
You feel feel sad again

You will feel happy again
Nobody ever told me these things and if they did I never believed them. I’m starting to now. So now I’m putting them out there because people need to be told these things.

The rains lash their love on the city,
a romance that’s hard to comprehend,
as the latter soaks up the former,
I sit in my room, fighting off the mundane.

I look over flocks of people,
moving around on the streets.
Living lives I’ve never known,
and perspectives I might not ever see.

The physical limitations of my body,
hinder the limitless thoughts it bears.
I want to live a thousand lives at once,
and my mind wants to break the cage.

Mornings.

I go to the freezer and pick out a waffle

Why are waffles the way they are?

They have craters
They break
And they flake

So I yell

"Why cant you be like the pancake?!"
So full
So soft

"Isnt that what breakfast food is supposed to be?!"

I sit back down

And finish my waffle.
Your scars and uniqueness make you who you are. You dont have to be a pancake to be a great breakfast food!
My sons, there’re things I hope you’ve learned,
About the proper way to live.
And with any respect I’ve earned,
I’ve fatherly advice to give.

If you’re alone and can’t connect,
There’s a girl and you can’t reach her,
Know that love follows intellect.
Aspire first to be her teacher.

To say “I love you” frequently
Is only good if you are true.
The pain of loving secretly
Will always eat away at you.

Nurture your curiosity,
Though there’s sometimes no solution.
Let asking be your specialty,
And learning your evolution.

Identify the righteous way,
Aware of who you’re meant to be.
Your mirror at least once per day,
Should reflect pride in what you see.

Each morning that you see the sun,
Appreciate your sense of awe.
Know your soul will always be one
With your father’s God of Torah.

Always give yourself to others
You can’t be selfish and content.
If you err and hurt another,
It should never be with intent.

When life gives you a broken heart,
Even if that heart is not yours,
Just find some wisdom to impart.
Let self-compassion open doors.

When you have children of your own,
And I’m in Heaven up above,
Know this, my son, you’re not alone—
Inside you is your father’s love.

“You will be happy” said Life
But first ill make you strong,
It will make you question things in your life to work out what went wrong.

“You will be happy,” said Life,
But first, i’ll make you ill,
So ill that you’ll appreciate what it feels like to be well.

“You will be happy,” said Life,
But first ill make you cry,
Cry so many tears as you watch your many friends lives pass by.

“You will be happy,” said Life
But first ill cause you pain,
Pain you’ve never felt before,
You won’t tell the sunshine from the rain.

“You will be happy,” said Life
But first, i’ll make you strong,
Now I sit here wondering if my happy years have been and gone.

These days you get so worried
Problems and heartaches
One after another.
You knew even before
You read this imperfect poem,
It's not that easy
becoming an adult.
You're confused if you're the only one,
Or it's all the same for everyone.
Many times you feel so depressive,
You knew it's not easy
Becoming an adult.
The sun rises and it'll set,
The days are gone, your age added.
Though many times you needed some help,
Please endure it all and gather your strength.
Just run and run,
while looking back to where you began.
Sing and dance to your favorite song,
and enjoy your life along.
It's true,
becoming an adult is not easy,
it's part of growing old.
Have strength my friend
Keep moving forward,
Sing a song of joy,
Realize that becoming an adult
is not that hard after all.

It's in our darkest times;
Trapped inside the labyrinth
Of our minds

With the waves of sorrow
Clawing out
And flowing freely
Down the engraved canyons
Of our tired eyes

That we discover
The most beautiful
Hidden corners
Of our souls.
