I,
have everything now,
except,
those smiling eyes,

this is,
an anonymous love letter I’ve forgotten your name,
because,
I find it’s better to just forget the truth and remember the lies,

I,
have everything now,
except,
those smiling eyes,

and that’s okay,
because I’ve been getting good at erasing memories lately,
like lovers all the best ones seem to eventually fade away,
and you can put all the blame on me honestly it’s totally okay,

I,
have everything now,
except,
for those smiling eyes,

I see you see,
that my reputation precedes me,
I’ll bet expectations were set even before we ever met,
yep that’s the truth and I don’t lie believe me,

see,
we are legends in the flesh immortal Gods that live in the infinite infinity infinitely,

I,
have everything now,
except,
for those smiling eyes…

The eyes are the windows to the soul
Rigmarole Sep 2016
With eyes squeezed closed tight
I wrung both my hands
And thought I had found myself
Cast adrift alone in far off lands

I slowly opened one eye a slot
And quickly realised I’d rather have not
I had wandered deep into a forest glade
Following the sound a warbler had made

And when I looked down I was amazed
To see bluebells dancing between grassy blades
Each bell seemed to call a certain sound
Ringing sweetly to me from all around

A bright gleaming light shot through the trees
And all about me the birds and bees
I began to feel a joy not known before
And allowed it to seep through every pore

I looked far beyond the bluebell haze
And thought I’d slipped into ecstatic daze
For there in front of holly trees
Stood a creature not know for centuries

It’s beauty and strength were felt at length
With eyes so bright I stepped back in fright
It’s mane was glorious it’s nature raw
And between it’s ears it’s magnificence I saw

For purity and grace come not often to face
With some thing so wild only a maiden can chase
I reached out my hand to offer it peace
And was surprised when it walked to me with such ease

It knelt down beside me and lay in the grass
I lingered a moment and time seemed to pass
We were lost in our day dream for ever some say
Just me and my legendary horse for the day

Route 84 would not lend me
the light of a star last night
Radio blazing at 75 mph
nonsense noise to chew gum by
Crackling political commentary
Static of distance and thick clouds
Invisible mountains blocking
Memories seeping through the cracks
coating the music in a film
I rub my eyes
watch myself punch alert buttons
But it’s the angels’ jukebox tonight

Roll down the window
Watch the heat escape

Summer again

I am building a castle of ancient stones
pulverized by relentless tides
Dragged across maps by mastodons
and mammoth glaciers
The scouring hiss
the ocean sighs
Time has lulled these smoothly
rolling them in the softest hands of sand
and gels of life’s comings and goings
tenderly tumbling
in the millionth moonrise—
Time deposits them here
wet and glistening

For the girl with the plaid two-piece to gather
Shoulders sun-burnt barely say
one week only,
one week of the fifty two
“It’s the time of the season…”
and daddies on the beach are watching….

She has chosen yet another stone
And the castle continues—
in oblivion to all but her legend…

The queen will be safe here
     from the rabble
The disgraced Tristan will surely seek her
     Among these lofty cliffs
Between the raging circuit of the tide
Here winds forbid the vengeful mob
     Here lovers learn
the debt of love’s bad timing
     “Drink ye all of it!”
--the potion that assigns our sorrow….
     She will not sleep—
while I chew this gum--  GUM?

Roll down the window!

Angels escape with the heat
Waking me with the brush of their wings

As that eighteen-wheeler hugs my flank
And leans on the horn
Lights flashing
Rude rumbling under right tires
Tantrum of snow
In the draft of mass and velocity

…and the angels?
They’ve chosen another good one!
They must’ve liked the 80’s
Their wings slapping the windshield madly
Their hands steady the wheel
As a fourteen-year old, I picked up a book to read at the beach about the legend of the lovers, Tristan and Iseult.  I was so captivated by their story that it ruled my imagination that summer.

Anyway, I still think of it when I think of the ocean-- as I did on this cold dark occasion when I should have pulled off somewhere for a coffee, but I was trying to beat the snow storm home.
Route 84, also known as Dead Bambi Highway, has a desolate, treacherous section going over the mountains between NY and Pennsylvania.  Didn't have much option for music at the time, so I leaned heavily on the radio pushing the search button to find anything bearable-- not too much static.
Song reference in this: "Time of the Season" by the Zombies-- all time favorite beach song that happened to be on the radio that night.

You know these kinds of thought,
                  like 'Mahathma Gandhi' once wrote
'You have to be that change,
if you want to see the World change'

Don't you think that it's so strange,
as we still haven't seen any change!
Now I know what 'Nehru' tried to state,
when he said 'ignorance is scared to change'

No No, I have nothing against you, My dear,
I just want you to come out of that fear,
that pinned you for so long in this chain,
from breaking out to the 'World of Change'
Chains to Break and a Elon Musk-'Some people don't like change, but you need to embrace change if the alternative is disaster.'
I had this scare to change or to try an alternate option, even if the other option has the potential to cause immense damage. Believe me, I really tried to change that part of my character many times, only to fail every time. But sooner or later you will get that moment that shines some light into our sick brain. But I do not know how that happened to me. May be I was just sick of not changing. to Change.

Ali
He floated like a butterfly,
Stang like a bee –
The one and only
Muhammad Ali.
“I’m The Greatest”, he always said,
20th Century Sports Personality,
Put his rivals to bed.

Yes, he WAS the Greatest, that’s for sure.
Above the rest by a massive score.
Faster than a hummingbird,
Slicker than a snake,
Those quick hands of his
They made opponents quake.

He’d get into bed
Before the light went out.
Rarely a whisper,
Usually a shout.

Like a long-distance runner
Ali had the endurance.
Anyone who fought him
Needed lots of insurance.

Ali was great and didn’t he know it.
A witty speaker and amusing poet.
Some of his lines I’ve used right here:
They had his rivals shaking with fear.

No way would Ali fight the Viet Cong.
For that he merits a Nobel Gong.
He was the champion of the oppressed,
A hero with whom we all were blessed.

He had charisma, way beyond sport.
Ali influenced our every thought.
He’ll call into Hell on the way to Heaven,
To knock out Satan, in round seven.

After a sad weekend during which we lost The Greatest.....
Rush
do not dawdle
into that working man's dream
fly by night to reach your destination
where the caress of steel melts like butter in your hands
the future
fly into 2112
where you bid farewell to kings and dragons
where all hemispheres are attainable
and waves are permanent
you will live and breathe moving pictures of art
your only signals will be your own
grace will not falter under pressure
there are no two way power windows
all is seen clearly and 'hold your fire'
is an ancient, unnecessary phrase
no magic potions
no presto
so, will you take the leap
roll the bones
and enter this new world where all beings
are your counterparts, not your enemy
no need to test for echo
no vapor trails
no feedback
leave these snakes and arrows behind
your clockwork angels await your arrival
Rush!
it was recently announced that the band Rush will no longer be touring. I have not missed a tour since 1980. A part of me died when I heard the news. This is a small tribute using all of the Rush album titles and 1 or 2  bits of lyrics...in order beginning with the albums 'Rush' and 'Fly by Night' and the song Working Man...they will be sorely missed and their genius will perhaps be fully realized now that we can reflect...

I live in a world now where legend and nightmares are abound
And screeching and screaming are the only sound
Buried alive I don't think I'll survive
Please don't resuscitate don't revive
Please don't look, turn around just leave me to die
Everything in my life has gone awry
I think this my friend could be my final goodbye

Cast upon the falling sky of Astraea,
The vast star empire of Sindar exalts.

The moon and the Goddess blessed nature,
As roots and the forest caress upon the waterfall.

Where the stones carve the wooden furnishes,
As Mother Earth nurtures the soils and the vegetation.

With thunders clash upon the great sea,
As it ripples into a tsunami and hurricane.

As soft as a petal of roses bloom,
But as sharp as it's thorns she speaks in tongue.

The melody of sweet sweet nectar of the harp she speaks,
And the skies kneel before her tongue.
But vigilant to guard her will.

Such is the mystic aura of her allure,
Like a old folk song enchanted heart,
And silence worthy to hear our beats in chest.

The creature refined by age of time,
More precious than fine jewels of the night sky,
It is the unspeakable beauty eludes us all.

More majestic than the pearls of all of the seven seas,
With not the unicorn or rainbows match the *** of gold she stands,
And like the star she eclipse illumination in the night!

Astraea be blessed,
For we were gifted by her light,
The blessed light of the night.
Beauty speak not only with words,
But the song sung mirrors the vanity eclipsed of all beauty,
And such is like mythical stories of her legends.

Edit, Got mixed up with WoW, LOTR to Greek mythology of star deity of Elune and Astraea and fixed accordingly, but melding as much to create certain aesthetics of a mortal being personification!

Some women eclipse like a star,
Some ladies lips tune like a harp,
And some allure like a dream!

Yes reflection of her in words!

I am Soraka Flocka Flame,
I go hard in the paint:
I'll make the bad guys go away
because I've got heals for days
that's right- look the other way
you can't handle this type of pain
I can tell that you're afraid.
Don't worry though because
I make everyone feel like this
all of your skill shots are amiss
and I bet I'm making you reminisce
about old times where you were fly
like the other game you played last night
but right now, I'm bringing you down
your teammates are calling you a clown
you're starting to believe you'll get reported

To call this madness is no longer indignant,
nor would it be a cliche to call me;
Insane, mad, crazy, or wild.

I pilot a nightmare
at the speed of homicide
into the jaws of hell,
the heart of a storm.

My friends are jackals and demons,
With eyes glassy and trapped open.
Heartless as myself.
Howling vulgarities into the apocalypse,
laughing as they bleed
From the mouth.

With death as our bride, and
standing elbow to elbow with legends,
we bear gifts of iron and fire.
We scream into the sunset,
And we are immortal forever,
Even if we die every day.

Remember me this way,
as immortal forever,
Even if I don't see tomorrow,
For I am no longer
Flesh & bone
Steel & fire.

I am a legend.

With love,
Yellowjacket
