If you gave all reason for worry,
If none of you seemed true
If what you did so stuck out
If nothing you could do stood out
If they were all not wrong
If they were right
If they saw your failures
If all they said was justified
If you knew something they did not
If none of it could be disclosed
If not one could be brought on board
If all you could hope for was trust
If this trust had no fuel to it
If all you had was you,
*If all you had was you...

I saw your beautiful welcoming eyes
I walked through the circles
Dodging the blinking curtains of love
Unafraid of what I might find
Because I knew you
Or so I thought
But the rush of blood was too much
The images of life too intense
Your heart beat too loud
The other side of your soft smile too hard
I started choking
Covering my ears
Closing my eyes
Crying
I couldn't stand it
I wanted out
But I couldn't find my way
What I was afraid of
Was how to live like this
And then I realized
I never really knew you
Because you had always been so strong
And only then did I know
How weak I really was
Her inner strength spread forth,
Winged with affection,
She taught others of its importance,
It wasn’t that she was made of stone,
God, no!
She was flesh and blood.

Fragility echoed in the walls of her heart,
Her never wavering eyes,
Hid the ingress to her troubled soul,
A guiding light she was,
Great a thinker she was taken to be,
Yet only one with minuscule eyes,
Could one see the gravity of her pain.

Nothing seemed to be in her favor,
Always contemplating on how to make it,
Fear gripped every bone in her,
Disappointment had been her colleague,
Nursing her into betrayals and discomfort,
The waterfalls of her tears had wet her bed,
In the secrecy of her capsule

Yet, her standing remained an inspiration,
Her pain was the light of others,
She knew all too well,
Her fragility had no place,
And hoped,
That the strength seen by others,
Would one day make its way,
Into her weakened heart.
Who we are to the rest of the world is different from what we are inside our hearts. This poem is a dedication to all strong people, men and women although specifically to those strong ladies who know how to hold on even when everything around is falling, mothers who remain pillars for their children even when they cry everyday in their beds, wives who remain the backbone of their husbands when all they want is to be shielded from the pain they have.

I know
what its like
to want to die
so when
the chance comes
it completely terrifies me.
It makes
me want to
run the opposite way
from the end
of my story
run into
someone who cares
and who can
bring me back
to reality.
I don't want
to end my life
even when
I want my life to end.

I’m here to make a statement
No, I don’t give a ****
If you don’t like the way I’m dressed
Or that I’m not a timid “lamb”

I want to spread the word
Beauty is found within
We each have an inner fire
That makes the world spin

We have to look below the surface
To what each soul hides inside
Our power comes from this energy
It’s too powerful to override

Now some have trouble finding
This flame that makes up our essence
But tap into yourself
You’ll be sure to sense its presence

I want you all to know
You don’t have to bow down
Each of you is strong enough
To claim your rightful crown

You are your own master
You are your own hero
No one can overcome you
When you are your own pharaoh
