Christmas is over
New year has begun
Not sure I'm ready for another one
Done all the things I resolved not to do
The lights blazing down
Time just flew

The world looks newer than before
Burning bright with colors galore
Feel it turn as I go through my day
Long years behind
Short ones on the way

Lighting life with the glow from ahead
Steps have went the wrong way instead
Branch is just too high to reach
Consumed in never-ending breach

The flame marks the proper route
Spells cast make it hard to get out
When my foot bravely goes to tread
Suddenly cells are made of lead

My fire drags me the opposite direction
Everglow remains in the darkest section
Memories of long ago linger in my head
Love I lost
Can't let go of
Remains in words unsaid

When asked my resolution I always respond
"Stop saying yes to things I am of rather not fond"
Of course I never commit and fail within a week
I try nonetheless though my attempt is too weak

The best mornings are made up of
waking up to new horizons abroad,
caducity not in my thought,
smell of the fresh day
— as pure as petrichor;
the day born as richer,
‘tis a new tune in embouchure
between past and future.

Harsh winds blew through,
In this cold, vast biosphere,
As I alone,
With none but my molted feather coat,
And these webbed pink feet,
Trudged across a paved way in snow,
To a place unknown.

Where lies my new colony,
With newfound friends,
And a family evermore,
Where I shall bear my soul!
Unjudged and beloved.

What an adventure this will be,
Surely not pleasant,
But one rough and obscure,
Where the malicious seals and skuas wait out to ambush.

Eager I was,
To be set free!
“The bright and bold”,
They’d say,
To us,
The youth,
The birds of times to come.

Contagion condition like it were tradition
Thus it was said, and so it were written
The dress code was formal
To dance the new normal
Keep a mask in the glovebox
Keep askin' love faux
Implore a two meter distance
No change we
Ignore the meter's insistance
Rearrange me
We sanitize our surfaces
Resurface to sanity
City slickers, one punch
Clean up the vanity
City sick, bad lunch
Team up; Insanity

A new hope; a fresh start
Exciting, and frightening, too
From the moment I gave you my heart
I put all my trust in you

See, there are black marks where I've been burned before
And some wounds that are still trying to heal
But what you've given me is so much more
It's beautiful, and warm, and so very real

I'm scared but I'm trying to be brave
Because I want you to be mine
There's so much that I wish to say
As our lives and our hearts entwine

But I'll tell you with a look, a laugh, or a smile
I'll confess within my touches, my kisses, my embrace
That every second with you is worthwhile
I couldn't hide it if I tried
You can see it in my face

The familiar and well trodden
Walked over each and every day
Yet they still surprise and bewilder
Not so much that stones moved
Or grass grows blue or pigs fly
But the eyes of the soul renewed
Like a newborn child's first sight
Seeing the world fresh and anew
In every step you walked the walk.

Unblemished kisses,
      woven upon her  fragrance.

I close my eyes and we connect,

I then pull away and giggle.

"Why are you laughing...

I can taste your toothpaste!!
           She blushes with a smile,

And we continue..
