black as night
staining everything he touches
filling and damaging the lungs
of that minor miner girl
who was just trying
to find the diamonds within him

but what she didn't know
was that he had only one diamond
it was the minor miner girl
and he gave her away
so now she feels poor
but someday she'll see
that she is a rarity

dear minor miner girl
I am but a jewelry cleaner
but I love you always.

he leaves his
window open
so the rare
wind whistling by

through a dust-coloured
day; in a
dust-coloured cell
on a dust-coloured
treasure chest lie

his faded blue
attire, worn and
patched by gentler
days,

greyed gracefully
to dusty black;
new wrinkles
on his face

weigh him down;
a faded
treasure chest
stares at a cement
coloured wall

over his head,
and the lonely
voiceless mist,
blinding; hear it
call

to rusty,
dark and sunless
sky, reflected
in his eyes,

when a bright and
impish countenance
eclipses tired
sighs;

the tired rusty
treasure chest
five decades
hibernates,

to feel the stirring
light of grey,
to feel new
hope, awaits

the cold and
stinging storms
that pour, taste
salty youth again;

the dusty
yellow rain boots
melt, ecstatic
in the rain.

Everyone would liken my dark eyes to coal
Until you came
To see them
As black pearls
Mercury Chap Oct 2015
His thoughts, his talks
Have combusted every corner
Of my cracking heart ,
Into ashes and dust,
Which fly no more,
Into cravings and lust,
Which I never adore.

I am trapped in this thought cloud
Flying beyond the horizons of fantasy,
Reaching non-existent places,
Impossible in my destiny.

I float around on this surface,
Swimming like a cinder-block
On this black tar of love,
Burnt from within,
And ready to burn further,
To win it all,
And to get that shine of a diamond,
It's tough.

Peasant clothes and peasant shoes,
Hardly bathed and poorly used.

Resting in coal and eating curds,
All she had left were her learned words.

Don't come too close
I smolder without flame
Until you place your lips on mine
Set my world on fire; set me ablaze.
I warn you I may burn you
Not out of spite
But out of fear
Protect myself from the coal in our hearts
Together we may burn down anything that's near.
In early morning I cool down
From inferno to dimly lit flame
A flickering ember in the fireplace
A glow of warmth in the arms of you.

In my chest there is a lump
like coal that's still cold
though I know it can burn
and I peel back the skin over my heart
and I crack through the ribs it's caged in
so I can watch it beating slowly
as I stare in the mirror and ask
how has my life come to this?
When my hand is a blade
and my head is a stone
and my heart is a coal
and I'm frozen,
I strike my hand to my head
and I wait for the spark
to set fire to my heart
for to burn me.
I wish to be smoke,
to drift away and to dissipate,
until no one remembers me anymore

A lump of coal
Tossed into the fire
Before it even stood a chance
Of becoming a diamond

And all it needed was time

Let fire consume the world
the it wash away your soul
let it burn you away like coal
let it prosper
let it spire
let it burn you away
like fire

I am not pretty perfect porcelain
I am a beautiful piece of coal
I don't care how you see me on the outside
Because I know that on the inside
I'm beautiful enough
if not more
