so what it's cliche
so what I've said it billions of times

I love you

and it's like a realization for me every time I see your eyes

so what it's cliche
I mean it

I love you
I wanna poke your cheeks,
and tickle you when you're mad.
I wanna kiss and hug you when youre sad.
and when you're happy,

Its because there is nothing that is bad.
You're beautiful no matter what mood you're in
I would love you a different way for each
I'd love you thick and thin

Just a Game. . .

In the comfortable stockade of my mind
Hide and seek cannot be won
Tiptoe away and find a hollow,
The solitary spot
Slipping between turmoil
Festering in alcoves
Always waiting; back tensed,
Adrenalin sheathing the silence
If I remain undetected
Perhaps the seeker will ease off,
Forget the ollie ollie in comfree
Leave me stowed away.
Much later, I could creep into safety
Call a truce, change spots...
Yet unmarred, the same old rules;
Vicious whispers that ask of unknown.
Meaningful glances and gritted teeth,
The shock of lush green eyes chasing down memory lane.
Wake up, Maple. Wake up.
But I wouldn’t, and it didn’t matter.
Because the stabbing whispers would continue inside;
Dueling emotions I long ago left at bay.
Reside there, waiting.
Counting.
Watching.

*Ready or not,
Here
We
Come.

Roses are red,
Violets are blue.
I swear to god there's no other way to say
**I ******* love you

oh how the stars bloom
in your eyes like millions
of fireworks on the fourth
of july;

i dig my heels into the dirt
and i call out like the ground
to the rain and the ocean
to the moon-

i say,
"i will cry for you
until i go crashing down,"

and i don't wait
for a response.

-
if i died
you wouldn't cry
you'd be sad
but it wouldn't be that bad
maybe you'd tear a bit
then instantly realize it's not worth it
you'd turn your head then walk away
because i was never worth the stay

Is my tongue stimulating?
Because chasing your love is so frustrating
I was only ever after your heart
You only ever pushed us apart
It seems I can never win
No matter where I go or where I've been
I always lost myself in you
There's nothing else I can do
I search my soul and wrack my brain
To find some other cure for this pain
There is no cure no prescription
To feed my love addiction

The furnace, the one I grew up with in my parents home.
Well, she sits on the red sofa now, clicking through Netflix options.
I'm pondering my luck with her artistic pose.
My poetic style, it doesn't fit. I've never wrote.
Glancing at her tattoos and her skin makes sense.
"Everything that has to do with a baby, it's a reflex," she says.
How can I not?
She's now reading a textbook.
I should have listened to more NPR, maybe not.
She holds her fingers to her lips while she reads.
Now, I definitely should have listened to more NPR.
But, I didn't. And as she sprawls out on my red couch in comfort I know, again, that I love her.
Cliché? Yes, but **** it.
It's newfound love.

Petite arctic terns
navigate the sky
on epic migration
wings clocking
45,000 miles each year

it seems they know
how to go
with the flow
by thumbing a lift
on atmospheric airways

that crisscross the planet
adding thousands of
seemingly needless miles
to an already
arduous journey

flocks congregate
in open ocean
to rest and fuel up
on fish and krill
for the last push home

these tenacious birds
understand
the cliché
it's all about
the journey

they synchronize
with invisible currents
because to beat
into the wind
is a futile expenditure

they pause
in community
to re-energize and feed
on unfathomable
bounty

four ounces
of feather
and hollow bone
instinctively holds
these truths

there is much
to be learned
from an
arctic
tern.
Humor me...

why change what isn’t broken, because it can be improved
why build bridges that are broken down, you found other friends in the move
why fix what’s right and wrong, we should fix what the future can hold
why stay another day, no point waiting till your old
why be the hero of the situation, anyone can do if after all
why be a small fish in a pond, there’s advantages to it all…
