I sit by the stream
and listen.
lapping the rocks,
like children's feet
patting across the pavement
on a summer afternoon.
listen–
you can hear the laughter;
little giggles.
jumping and playing
as it flows by.

The truth isn’t hidden forever
The sun is behind the Moon
it’ll find the bottom of the night
will pick it up upon the rose.

See whose shining
streaming down into a dew?
On the way though maybe
some storms one or two!
Heartaches that shimmer through my bed every night. Cold stones, broken bones, a red eye to Las Vegas with no cash and a knee splint. Sober days, sober nights, and what am I even doing here? Curse words, funeral pyres, judgment days, chattering teeth on the horizon and a disco ball lodged in my bedroom walls. I swear I’ve seen your ghost before, in a black and white film that I watched on late night television while I was high on *******. Dragging lakes, settling into graves, a judge pardoning a man I’ve never met. A night in New York, a terrible flu, thoughts about how the 1800s are as foreign to me as your smile in the reflection of a second hand microwave. I’ve been driving all night and all I’ve found were water towers and gated communities; summertime, brown grass, sprinklers and hands clasped together, all staring at me from a Polaroid I found in the neighbor’s dumpster. When’s the last time I’ve seen a star, when’s the last time I’ve put the pieces back together? A broken jaw burrows underneath the pool in her backyard, she was always so rich, always so well put together, I’ve seen her on infomercials, in dreams, her hair litters every empty elevator in Seattle. Romantic getaways, wind chimes, the sound of an ex fiancé wringing her wrists underwater. There are so many sounds down here. I’ve stuck a needle into the corral reef. The earth melts around me and all the stars slice ancient limericks into my bones. I found heaven last night in her backyard. It was shards of glass half buried in the grass.
I've been writing a lot of prose poetry lately. Here is one of my most recent piece.

Do you really like my poem?
Does it make you stop an think?
As you read down through the prose
does it reek and start to stink?

To stand against the flow
Only grants them the chance
To flood you down
For one final blow
Fear not, you won't drown
The waves grant you a dance
Allow yourself their embrace
From the Lady of the Lake's face
That is taking away your fate

I can sit beside and watch you all day.
how your cheeks unfurl when you smile
how you caper with your hair,
how you can’t stay in one emotional state,
I can sit beside and watch you all day,
the way you move your hands when you speak,
how deep your voice goes
when you talk about your m emories
and the little pause you take,
just to glance at me from the corner of your eyes.
I can sit beside and watch you all day,
even when there is silence in air,
lost in our own world,
but still knowing a soul is besides us,
enjoying the silence of each other.
I can sit beside you and watch your beauty all day,
because it never fades and
it’s one to cherish for eternity.

In these days of
Feeling like we are wrong..
Wrong for having feelings
Emotions
We are told that we must always

BE HAPPY

Get a good job
Wife
Husband
Life
Kids
House
Car
Truck
And let's not forget all those toys we have to have in our kitchens, living rooms, and attached garages.
The latest game
The biggest TV
And anything that is the latest generation of Samsung or Apple

If you have all of these things, it is guaranteed: you will be happy.

But here is the FLAW.

You aren't happy because you dont have all of the things society says that you should have to be happy.
Once you get these things, society just replaces all of these things with new things.
Newer games
Bigger TV's
And of course!
The latest generation of anything Apple or Samsung
So what is the point of striving for all of these things when it is never going to be enough?
Something will always be better than what you have.

Unless you choose for it not to be.

You have the decision before you to be HAPPY.
Enjoy what you have.
The right game
The right TV
Apples in the fridge and *** is Samsung?

Once you stop worrying about being what society wants to be and be who you want to be

Isn't that happy?
