Moonlight Oct 2020
One morning, I sat at the window
And observed the clouds floating in a row
As I sipped my coffee, watched the show
Wondering if they were clouds or giant ***** of snow

Got lost in the moment, I didn’t know
Time flew by and I couldn’t follow
I still kept gazing at the sky though
Until I got distracted by a cawing crow
For the love of words that rhyme :)

I like showing off
Sometimes
1% of what I am
But then
I feel like I gave them too much of me

"Ladies and Gentlemen... Here comes the..."
.
.
The artist walks towards the stage as he hears the cue,
.
.
"Costume, check.
Makeup, check.
Smile, check.
Confidence, check"
He ticks all his mind checklist for one last time
as he walks towards the spotlight
just like those fireflies attracted to lights.
Getting out of the backstage
leaving behind all his doubts and worries,
His courage steps on to his own canvas
to create his own masterpiece.

Amidst the dramatic lights and
music that stirs emotions,
Given all the audience's attention
Feels like he is the center of gravity
attracting all the curious eyes.

Holding in a dynamic mix of
excitement, nervousness and boundless happiness
He bursts out his hardwork and professionalism.
.
.
.
.
.
"Thank you"
With the ending note
all he remembers is the applause
and the audience reactions
that mirrored exactly what he imagined
while creating the masterpiece,
and his performance remains
like a lucid dream in his memory.

As he walks down the stage
anybody could see the satisfaction
he proudly carried over his shoulders.

where Hollywood's celluloid dream
is reflected off silver screen
into the consciousness
of audience's expectations
sitting
in amphitheatre auditoriums
amid
whispered conversations
plot revelations
spoiler alert
sweet packet crinkle
coke slurp
popcorn rustle
where held hands
make promises breached
bases reached
love declared
for a fumble on a back seat
childhoods spent
getting out from under
grownups feet
the good guys won
the bad guys wore black
where a thousand shots fired
nobody died
in the end
aching legs brought to life
to leave with
a head full of stories
unrelated to real life

One thing I can show you-
As if my love understands, or could do,
All of the things that the happy people knew,

The lessons we teach, are taught back to us too.

I won't know you again, right on by my side,
As my dreams whirlpool,  we're pulled under riptides
May I find, and then loose, you on this earthly ride-

May you glimpse my real pain, on this final bedside.
A collaborative
My lifes a show
Filled with sorrow and danger
Its not a promising film
You'll hear them say
As the scenes
Play across the screen
I glance at the audience
The theatre is empty
Except for me
I reach down and stuff
A handful of popcorn
Into my mouth
Hoping that'll stop the sobs
Even though
Theres no one watching
ill tell you, my lifes probably not the movie youll buy a ticket for

How do we
show you that
this is not
something we
want to be
fighting for
'til we pass
torches to
children who
just begin
fighting where
we left off?
A little on the note, but it probably isn't the time for subtext anyway.
Black lives matter.

Time slips away,
as you prepare my
farewell;
And I drown into
the ocean of thoughts,
unprepared, alone
as I gnaw at my cage
relentless,
as the pomp
is heard outside.
The wings cut off and
freedom seized for
the shallow prestige
of the vultures.
The words given, now
wash away with
the water,
as I desperately try to
find it,
and identity and faces
changed for the
benefit of some.
The boneless spectators,
watch as I am
made to dance,
in the show of Honour.
As I become "dignified".
