"What would you do for loved ones?"
"Anything."
"What would you do for yourself?"
"Nothing."
"Why not?"
"It's selfish."
"Why is it selfish?"
"Because I'm okay being alone.
They're not."
"First, just because you're okay
Being alone doesn't mean
you should be.
And second, you're not alone.
You have me."
a coward holds the lovers card upright in his hand
told them both he’d take to the promise land
torn between two queens, all confused
didn’t want to leave any of them bruised.

a naive youngster held the fool in reverse
fell for all the tricks and games was the curse
she gave in full but took none, always came at second best
time wasted being used, finding out again she was just the guest.

a woman believed him and she was always an option but never the choice

'We discovered that one of the strongest links among us was questions about the morality
of what we do: when do
you press the shutter release
and when do you cease
being a photographer?'

Step into the pools that fill my heart
But do it with trepidation
Because you’ve drowned here before
In the voids left by other men
Brought in by my siren song
But always with a rope to guide them out

Where is your way home, darling
Why do you return to me
With hope in your eyes
And no fear in your heart

I am the monster here
In my own story
Not the damsel in yours

Darling, you should know
that I have more self-love in my
left pinky finger than to be
somebody's second choice.

the smell lures you in.
all you want is food
until you're suddenly
fighting for your life.
you can never catch a breath
without someone behind you.
because when you rest
for even one second
that's when they strike.

Sitting in the midst of natural blessings in waiting
Waiting for the sun to bid farewell to the present day
A day spent in search of reasons
A day needing the kind of conclusion filled with beauty
Magnificence only nature can achieve
Preparing the answers that have been elusive
And then it happens
Glowing with mad eruptions of itself
Rays of emotions bursting out to share their message
Trying to explain what cannot be understood
The vision remains only seconds, the emotion will be forever
And then.... twilight arrived

Brian Hill - 2020 # 103
Always take time to see, hear, and appreciate natures beauty.

A mere phantom roaming Earth with no apparent direction
Miserably yelling
Yearning for connection

Tossed to and fro
Invisible waves
Into the depths of echoing caves

Not knowing why life I was given is cursed
Dangerous
Yet still I plummet headfirst

I do not know why the path I walk is not straight
Crooked for so long I think it may be too late

I hear cries
Loved ones pleading me to turn around
From so far I can barely make out the sound

I shout back to them
Am suddenly mute
Voice inaudible
Or at the most
Minute

My sore throat finding solace in silent surrender
Healing with a touch so tender

Stop a second to catch my breath
Look into water and my eyes glimpse death
Kinda just a poetic self portrait

Stay with me.
For a second or a minute.

For an hour or a day,
I don’t care,
but please just stay.

We can rest under the stars,
look at the sky we lay beneath

Just let us be like this a little longer.
Just let us take a break and breathe.
just breathe...
