I want to erase the fingerprints
I leave on your days, weeks, and years,
To drain through the gaps
In your floorboards,
To float through life,
Unable to embrace but
Too incorporeal to be slapped.

I need to

go.
Slipfast:

adj. longing to disappear completely; to melt into a crowd and become invisible, so you can take in the world without having to take part in it—free to wander through conversations without ever leaving footprints, free to dive deep into things without worrying about making a splash.

It truly is a shame
It's a shame that this evil never left after it came
The residual, dry back shot residue leaves a stain
After every time I'm sccrewed and they remain
Those ones don't rinse off in the rain
The rain that came all the same
Leading me to aim my point at and then claim
That I'll never see life the same

its the end of the old beginning of the new
but i can't pretend to walk through this new door without any residue
without any trace of you, or memories
starting a new project, transversing a new lane
i wish i was as sacrilegious and vain
as i used to be before i was beaten black and blue
until i encountered you and my confidence was rocked
until i encountered you and your mind games won’t stop
even after i have burned away every trace
even after i have burned away at the stake
you always find a way to worm your way into my peace
disrupt and unplug, mistrust and vengeance
but what really is love, i just crave revenge

One shoelace

a few bolts

ticket stubs

a half of a picture

souvenir key chain from Florida

fragments

of him

tiny ghosts

tucked in the corners

so I always find him

never quite

let him go

always reappearing

clinging on to my skin

leaving the residue of his name
Jackie Mead May 2018
The residue of her desire was obvious to see
Her eyes glazed with adoration and lust
His eyes were dark and full of mistrust
She had loved and burned
Her love for him was not returned
Her desire will be pushed away, saved again for another day
Saved deep down where the residues of her other emotions can be found
This was a word prompt on another site
I saw the
colossal
hearts
of this
world
destroyed
by chains,
falling down
their faces was
the residue of
their souls
as they
were watched
by cold eyes,
whose hearts
were so devoured
by the blizzard,
they could not
feel the flames
burning,
the light
of the
beautiful
ones
who broke
the chains,
and rose
as the
thousand
suns of
one

like an old used
dish towel tossed aside
like nothing at all
just hanging there
waiting to fall
stripped from love
rinsed with pain
absorbing the hurt
out comes the rain
what happened to just
leave me behind
there is no answer
to comprehend this
residue I find
Chalsey Wilder Dec 2015
Don't make me your residue
I am no longer with you
If you remember, 5 months ago you scrubbed me off
Don't continue living in me like an empty useless loft
Why are you so bent on repeating yourself?
I'm healthy, but you literally said I'm too unhealthy to be around.
Contradiction in your words. We're all learning the hard way.

In the darkness thinking
remembering your light
always brought me peace

calmed the storm within
but, some thoughts
are just too dark

for even your light
to reach.
