in the cold of night --
appreciating the ceiling
breaking down
Dylan G Nov 2014
I lean back in my chair
Sit and stare

WHAT WAS THAT!
Something catches my eye
I jolt back in fear, then just sigh

I look at the spider, the root of anxiety
The critter creeping and crawling ever so quietly

I watch and sit still
It waits on the window sill

Instinct inside says to end its existence
But value for life does not offer compliance

Though it is the source of caution and fear
I cannot help but stay near

And so I sit and stare
Lean back in my chair

WHAT WAS THAT!
The spider catches my eye
I jolt back in fear, then just sigh
A poem I quickly wrote as I stared at a spider on my wall.  WAIT! Now it's moving!

you blur the world from black and white
to different shades of gray
you're like a wind storm you can't hear till it's only a mile a way
you're an abyss so black and deep,
we lose our minds trying to comprehend
and every time i think of you i always end up at the end
you're like light that isn't quite dim
but far too bright,
and I don't know how i make it through the night
cause without you by my bedside
i tremble,
i don't know who the hell you are
but you're someone i resemble

Save me
I can't
You see
This rant
As crazy
My mind
Is hazy
Please find
My solution
In confusion
Each line
Only two
Not fine
Without you
Choppy but pretty to me.

Off the cuff,
Not my best stuff,
Kinda rough,
Never good enough.

Willing to share,
But ya gotta bear,
With me there,
'Cause its got minimum flair.

Still gonna try,
My skill may run shy,
But I give a fly,
Hoped you like it, Bye!
Got called on in a guild chat to make a poem on the spot. This is it.

Never alone
But always lonely
I've nothing to hang onto
So you never hold me
Dripping from your hands
With a futile disgust
We're dreaming of love
Yet give into lust
Maybe that's why we're all lonely.

Quick! The seasons are changing.
Grab your belongings, and put them
all behind your back.

Quick! The sky is waking up.
You must hurry, my darling,
for it will catch you before you even set foot,
on the freshly fallen dew.

Quick! The flowers are blooming.
Here is a rose, to remind you of me,
when you are melancholy.

Quick! The sun has risen.
Go now, my darling,
and never look back.
I am going on a long trip, so this is kinda impromptu!!!
I'm not one for settling down
With your head rested on my lap
While I fix you a flower crown
No, I'm not that much of a sap

You're not one for stone-cold girls
But I know you'll willingly unfurl
Your heart for me to figure out
In the meadow where we'll lounge about
I don't do romantic stuff and neither am I into it,
but my liking toward you perseveres.
Breathe: in…out. Lighter with each
breath. Floating like a balloon
in tune with all that has not been reached,

Quick.

Bare soles covered in earth;
flourishing. Legs intertwined
in vines. A natural rebirth,

Quick.

A refreshing wave from head
to toe, forming roots beneath
my feet. Skin begins to shed,

Slow.

Sorrow seems to me
Comparable to quick sand
Very far from quick
