Opportunities begin to unfold,
Clear vast spaces await to be filled.
Today I’d pledge to leave some uncertainties behind.
Today our story transfigures into an open-ended chapter.
Planet earth is not personally owned by any human being,
But why do we feel so inferior or more superior when we breath the same oxygen?
When all of us have the same most certain end which is death..
Is it because we have chosen these things we love to hate,
Or are we supposed to blame the society in which we found ourselves?
Well bottom line is:
The one who owns the universe views us all as equals,
And He puts before us opportunities to thrive usually in disguise..
The world isn't that unfair afterall..
try to imagine
your own death

at first
your mind just balks
at the idea

but once you concentrate
you may get puzzled
at the endless opportunities
you have
  of dying

warming to the subject now
images start flitting through your mind
like you were flipping TV channels

you see yourself dead
  with a trickling bullet wound
  in some dark street
  victim of street crime unpredictable

or have a vision
of a scene of accident
where white-clad helpers
carry a distorted body
to a waiting van
in vain

or you are in a clinic
rigged to electronic gear
the nurses look discouraged
slowing beeps
flattening curves on monitors
and you feel darkness creeping in

or you blow-dry your hair
with the old dryer
and the bathroom floor
is just a little bit
too wet

a plane falls from the sky
in a fireball

a stone gives on the mountain path

you ski into whiteness

the railing breaks

lightening flashes

a snake bites

what.... -

all of a sudden
  options explode
your mind reels from the truth
that death is all around
in infinite variety
and may be yours

now

or a second later

The sun rose upon me and only me
Or maybe it was a smile divine
Shining bright enough to bring life
To a barren desert and every grain of sand

Those smile smitten grains carried love and life
And warmth enough to drown the darkness of solidarity
Yet, with outstretched hands transfixed
Complacent and indecisively basking in their radiant flow

You'd never think a desert bowl of sand grains
Would slip the grip of any person within so few moments
And yet, and yet, alas, the last slipped through my fingers
And I clenched my fists so tightly blood slipped
Through my fingers and upon the smitten grains dripped.

sitting here in silence as i look at your name,
wondering what it really feels like to be in your shoes.
cheesy as it may sound, you are truly an enigma,
and that's what scares me about you, i wont know when you'll be bored of me

when the time comes, i want you to trust me,
it's ironic though because i'm the one with trust issues.
i don't know how to really describe us,
are we strangers or are we more or am i just talking to myself.

i may just be getting in over my head but,
i'm excited and happy and just overwhelmed with positive feelings thinking about these different possibilities in the future,
but at the same time, i'm scared. scared because it's new for something good to happen to me. so please, for my sake, just tread lightly.
just feelings at 5:30am

the opportunities come knocking
i don't answer
opportunities ring my phone
it sends to my answer machine
opportunity emails me

Let us explore
All the possibilities,
We will exhaust the night
Trying to find answers
Let us discover
What it means
To be one with our inner struggles.
Faith Gabito Dec 2014
It creeps into our minds and compels us to turn and walk away, even if that means letting go of the things we yearn for the most
Somehow, it manages to whisper lies that we deem of more than the pure truth
The things that we have perfected no longer embrace value, for our words cannot escape from our locked lips and our bodies become more frozen than ice
Opportunities become grains of sand that slip through our fingers
We endeavor to perceive what is in the vast and mysterious unknown
Our views are distorted, and we believe that we are only fools for dreaming of something so great and unfathomable, even when we have prepared for this our entire lives
That something is our future, but there is one thing that possesses the power to stifle us
Fear.

Waiting near the shore
Trying to find a foothold
On sands of uncertainties
Giving way to the burden
Waiting for the waves
To sweep you off your feet
Now the waves come rushing
To kiss the fortunes
Get ready to surf
The waves of ecstasy and freedom
For you shall ride with them
To the shores of beauty
The sun kissed land waits for you
With welcome hands
Sea of opportunities here
To feel the warmth of promise, again
