late
in lamplight's hiss
I sat and watched the attic dust
dance under spotlights cast
by moonbeam
          skylights
on a stage of memory
and forgetting

The world never melted away at my feet before.
That is until you whispered my name,
and made me feel:
like the word finally has some meaning personal to me,
like all of the stars across the galaxy are exploding in supernovas for me,
like I can finally assign a definition to the feeling I’ve been searching for for 20 years,
like every hurt, every tear shed, every heartache has led me to this point -

the moment when you’d whisper my name for the first time.
It’s a phenomenon.

Has it been
that long already?
Such a distant memory,
it almost feels like a dream-
a dream I never wanted to wake from.
I still miss you
more and more every day.
Take me to sleep,
I want to dream
again.

we rest riverside
enwhispered in the twilit waters flow
seduced by the poplar grove
gently bending stalks
making way for the windswalk
forever let us lie this way
mud sand sun
minds eye unsay
ere new world takes our fantasies away

do you remember
days of being young
the creaky swing
we pushed each other on
as the horizon
rising and falling like a scythe
sliced away
the moments of our lives

I miss(ed) you
the girl with black hair
who loved the blue sky
and breathed in fresh air

I miss(ed) you
who had no cares in the world
who came home to no worries
in her mother's arms she curled

I miss(ed) you
who lived as a child
when friends gathered round
born free and wild

I miss(ed) you
who had innocent eyes
who dreamed of fairies and mermaids
and didn't worry and sigh

I miss(ed) you
who didn't cry when things were tough
who held hope and beauty within
who didn't fake a laugh

I miss(ed) you
who wasn't stressed day and night
who could hug her parents close
whose days shone bright

I miss(ed) me
what happened to the years
I miss(ed) mom and dad
when their eyes didn't fill with tears

I miss(ed) me
it's hard leaving you behind
it's hard leaving young mom and dad
it's hard not looking back

I miss(ed) me
I miss(ed) coming home
I miss(ed) dreaming
I miss(ed) loving

I miss(ed) me.
it's been some time since I wrote a poem but I'm feeling down after coming to university and got really nostalgic tonight so here's one for the ones who miss(ed) their childhood folks.

Sitting in the bar
in that town
you used to live in-
wishing you were sitting at that stool
of where we first met.
I would pull up a seat
let the sparks ignite
and do it all over
again.

I still hear
our favorite song
from time to time.
Each note still sets the key of you
and they're still ringing out
in my head.
There is no pause button
for this harmony
of you.
