He was never on time
And made poor excuses
Melodramatic
And made terrible jokes

He’d get carried away
*** wasn’t the greatest.
He had zero filter
Blamed others for mistakes

He never bought flowers
Never opened a door
He’d sweat profusely
And forget my requests.

And yet still I loved him
With his ****** quirks.
Imperfectly perfect,
Or simply– a ****?

I have never wanted anything so bad
I've never felt this before
I would throw away everything else
If you would take me back once more

I promise I will make you happy
I swear I'll try my best
I will do whatever you say as long
As you let me rest my head on your chest

If you wrap your arms around me
I believe fear I can confront
No matter what it takes, I will be the girl
you need instead of one you don't want

The worst type of pain is the kind
that whispers "you'll never be the same."
Keeps you wide awake at night
Convinces you that you are to blame

If I could be more like you
Maybe you would love me like you did
See me for the person I am
Instead of a little kid

Part of me will always be
In love with who you were
My arms are open in case
You discover it's me you would prefer

I hope someday you realize
There are a lot of ******* out there
I'm not like other girls here
And you're going to find out that's rare

Right now I might be "immature",
Insecure, too easily upset
At least I don't give up on people
I love if they're not perfect yet.
It gives me chills to read this poem I wrote back in 2012 after my first serious boyfriend dumped me because now I am the person dishing out the hurt and it brings me pain to know I'm making someone I love feel the same way I felt.

A landscape between two
Bridges the distance between
Me and you
And these imperfect minds alike
Aren’t too far away
To hear a perfect lover’s cry
Or a sweet melody in the night

A landscape between two
Cannot tame the ripe waves of ecstasy
Or the light rays up above
Oh yes!
I see the sunken ship
On top the sea
And I see an anchored love
From my landscaped view

A landscape between two
Bridges the distance between
Me and you
And the birds chirp
While the earth turns
The  faithful flute plays
Towards a landscape between two

You wouldn't guess by the looks of her report card that it came with a precious price. The scars on her young cheeks and dry, tired eyes carry baggage that she must now pack to college. Sure, she made it,
but at what cost?

She'll never be the one with voluptuous hair, particularly perfect eyelashes, and long trim legs. Instead, she can dream of portraying that character, while she can't even make the audition.

You are not the movies you see
You are not the music you groove to
You are not the food you eat
You are not the people you talk to
You are not the clothes you wear
You are not the words you swear
You are neither stupid nor ugly
You are neither too skinny nor too chubby
You are neither too perfect nor a defect
You are not a puppet or a muppet
You are not who others want you to be
And you are not someone society compels you to be.
You are not society's stereotype.
You are not going to let anyone label you.

You are you.
You are something much beyond.

the toughest man I know,
will too, shed tears;
the prettiest lady once told me,
she too feels insecure;
the happiest friend laughed,
at the times she cheated death

I truly wonder
if the reason I'm flawed,
is to make me perfect
one day, someday.
Perfectly Imperfect
