A goddess of all
Rules with a kind, playful heart
Works and plays all day,
Not a minute astray
Happiness to all who meet her gaze
They will surely be in a daze

Her face always towards paper
She'll put it down, only later.
Helps her escape...
From the madness and insanity,
Known as her world.

Betrayals and struggles...
Between her superiors
And Lust
Escape is a must

She finds herself in a realm
Under dark forces rule.
She smiles, as she fights
To forget her past so cruel

In the midst of her battles
She meets a man
Young but old
He's been here before,
From the stories he told

Their time is brief,
But worthwhile
Hail from the same realm
One human, the other a goddess
One account pleasant, the other vile

Returning to the Goddess' home of gold
The human scoffs for he can see the mold

Lust attacks,
Using her assets to keep him
More than intact
He backs away, drawing his sword
He will attack, even his lords

No time wasted
No stone unturned
As more time faded
They grew more firm

He knew he must protect her
But doesn't know why
A past obligation?
A long-awaited friend?
Was he in love with her?

Whatever it was
He never brought down his guard
Even while having fun
He never let up

From suitors trying to marry her
To her superior's tyranny,
He never let go of this sword
To expel villainy

Their individual chapters close
From having fun, to slaying foes
The sun sets, he continues his duty
Thus, opens another entry
As her Eternal Sentry.

You're so used to trickery
I wonder if you've played tricks on me
You see, I would never know if you had
Because you're a trained elite.
Taught to keep secrets and analyze society
Prepare for the worst, yet remain calm
You stand guard for traveling families
While dismantling bombs.

Do you pick my brain and take notes
On my answers and reactions?
Do you see me as a potential hazard to society
Or a person with love and compassion?
I know you must remain strong all day
with your guards standing tall
But with me, I promise,
You may let them all fall.
Not the strongest nor best poem I've written, not really even written to the fullest capacity but still needed to be said.

I'm getting better at deleting messages.
I'm getting better at ignoring calls.
I'm getting better at not saying "I miss you."
and not paying attention to the "I never loved you at all"s.

I'm getting better at guarding my heart.
I'm getting better at not falling.
I'm getting better at saying no
and ignoring boys who are good at stalling.

I'm getting better at loving myself.
I'm getting better at forgiving you.
I'm getting better at moving on
and recognizing that our love wasn't true.

Resist most
let a few in
hide behind a wall that appears paper thin
watch it dissolve
into sticky fly paper
people are compelled
instantly attracted
you let people in
and begin to form a bond
if they leave
part of you corresponds
as you add on to the wall
you prevent intrusion
it all adds on to the illusion
the inside seems so great
because it was made so hard to penetrate
the thicker the wall
the longer they stay
rewards come soon
to those who are welcomed
because behind that fly paper
is all of your imagination
so share out loud your thoughts and consolations
the air around you the air inside
is filled with admiration
and overflowing with pride
because now that your inside
you are forever mine.

This purpose I seek
Continues to elude me
All I can hear is the words
From foreign mouths
Compliments, accomplishments
But still satisfaction is far from close

Goals tossed aside
Like flood damaged novels
Except for one
Dusty, old, and unachieved
One from my childhood
Tucked away for safe keeping
Inside the hidden nook of my mind

One day, I will find a person
A person whose mind reacts
Perfectly with mine

So my journey begins anew,
But misleading pursuits led me
Far from where I needed to venture
Years it’s been, but I found a new path
One that I thought would lead me
To a delicate spring, peaceful and joyous
I still don’t know if this path is the right one
However, I continue with my hopes held high

10 miles in, now I see it
The path, it’s blocked
Preventing any passage lays a gate
Constructed fairly recently, but solid
Solid as stone and no way around it
I could turn back, choose another path
But the image of the spring is so near
My faith cannot falter
And so I wait

Sitting on the stairs leading to the gate
Listening for the chains to move
Lifting this portcullis
But what if I wait to long?
What if another arrives?
No, I must not question
I must find my use
So I continue to wait
Hoping that for once
I can continue on my journey
And for once
I can stay
Happy.

Right?

The feeling of comfort was not always so
the feeling of comfort is relatively new
I feel safer in my armor, standing stiffly aloof
These **** people
want me to feel the cloth around their skin
so obsessed with lounging
unaccustomed to wearing things in,
thickening one's skin, and seeking scars
This to me, is all life is
Why coddle yourself in luscious membranes?
You fought outta the womb for a reason
What made you stop climbing?

I
Let
My
Guard
Down
and
Gave
Her
The
World
Only
To
Find
Out
She'd
Reached

I build up my guards to keep me safe,
Keeping secrets and love hidden away.
Waiting for the bricks to be demolished but knowing you're not far away.
My walls may be ten feet tall but your whirlwind love can break me right down.
Down to the simplest and purest of grains.
You can get under my skin, right to the core,
With the slightest touch I crumble,
With a single breath I am broken.
But once your tornado fades to a still breeze,
My walls will build up stronger and quicker than ever.
Leaving remnants of shattered stones in my heart forever.
Ok, I didn't want to do this
but there's rules that you must know
Etiquette to be followed
A line that you must toe

Listen very closely now
I think you all should try it
The things that you will now learn
About a protest and a riot

Firstly, have a purpose
Just random shouting, that's persay
If you do not have a topic
Then all the new folks go away

Throwing bricks at coppers
Breaking windows on the street
Is this a sign of protest
Or is it idiots in heat

No signage, and no speakers
Just random yelling for a cause
This isn't a good protest
Just breaking random laws

A protest has a purpose
It presents a point of view
A riot is an ugly thing
Which one is right for you

MLK could run a protest
Make a point and get things done
All without a mob forcing
A cop to use his gun

The rules really are simple
Keep the young ones all at home
For people in glass houses
Should really not throw stones

A peaceful resolution
From a protest is the goal
But a riot is just aimless
It puts the city in a hole

Victims of a riot
Are not the ones who are to blame
They're just owners of the business'
Who get caught up in the game

Next time that you protest
Protest rioting instead
It will turn out for the better
And nobody will end up dead
