"Do you do engagement ring refunds?"
A Hemingway is a small 6 word story, named after Ernest Hemingway.
Lux Capacitor Mar 2015
So you've been doing well and you're engaged,
so nice. "Happy for you" doesn't begin to explain
the feeling I've been taking to bed every night.
When I get sad over life and
look at pictures of slit wrists,
I let the memories flood in.
Shuffling to our room in midday
dead set on apologies.
Finding you stretched out and half dead.
Finding you stretched out and half dead,
you said,
"You did this to me."

I bet I'd be better off if I'd left with my cigarettes
But as it stands I can wish you well,
and for your husband the same hell,
to reach the soul you never had.
I hope he's happy in laughter like me,
when I meet you in dreams.
I am not humble in memory.

"You aren't supposed to step on the cracks, I'll tell on you," I stick my tongue out at his comment and he laughs. I saunter closer to him on the street as we close in on our destination and he wraps his arm around me. We are just about to the pet store when Peter pulls on my hand and stops on the sidewalk. I turn around confused, "What's wrong? Having doubts?"
"No, I just want to make sure you aren't."
"I'm fine, I want to do this. I'm ready, I promise."
"Do you think we're going to fast?"
I laugh and he smiles sheepishly, "I don't want you to get scared again, I don't want to rush you."
"Trust me, Peter, I'm ready for this. Let's get engaged."

We walk hand in hand into the pet store and pick out our little puppy, our ring, and our promise to each other. He's more playful than the others and his right ear won't stay upright. I like his dopy looking half smile and Peter likes his boundless energy.

After we leave the store with our new family member, Peter bends down to look eye to eye with Marshal. I watch him whisper something in his ear and it almost looks as if Marshall nods. I giggle as Peter straightens up and ask him what he had said. Peter turns to me and smiles the same kind of dopy grin Marshall had and says, "Oh I just warned him not to step on any cracks, as I am very fond of this back."

He places his hand on the small of my back and we walk down the street like everything that was meant to be, was being, and we were at the center of it all.

I caught you staring
at me,
you looked away,
and pulled
your sly
little smile.

I've been warned,
from the very first day,
to stay away.

But like our first
impression,
you're hard to forget.

You caught me staring
at you,
and i didn't look away.

You have my attention,
a forbidden engagement.
Why do we like the baddest people?

In my love of day
My love invents another day
In my window night
Another night is invented

We are what we think
So carnival of carnal imaginations
Be still, learn to concentrate
For the calligraphy of fate

Shows sign-seeds of
Syllable-clusters, rampant sparks
That the stars in my hands
Invents a touch that deconstructs

Itself, these eyes that have
Taken these pages by storm
And this heart that cannot
Let any portion of the
World go unloved alone.

so rich and thick all these things i'm feelin
makes my head spin when your near me
such a strange dance we do as lovers
the poke and run
tickle and fight
laugh and cry
you talk to me of wonderland to be
i say to you obscure tales of things that were
you revolve around me in a parking lot
rollerskating round my bicycle
kiss round my speaking
what a strange dance lovers do
i see how happy you are
showing off engagement ring
showing off your own private personal poet
little girls wish
romance thats all dreadlocks and naked fun
thats all beautiful things
come with me baby lets run real fast neath the soft trees
come with me lets go find some spot we can
roll in the grass and kiss round eachother
we can find that moment when we
tickle and fight
laugh and cry
do the lovers dance with all the haste of eager youth
with all the desire of old lovers knowin eachother pleasures
do the lovers dance
all fingers, lips...
soft caress hard...
kiss round eachother
(early this month me and Jezebel got engaged, wedding will be aug. 1st 2015.)
Sat on a sedan
Spiderman took her hand.

Went down on one knee
And said
Will you marry me?

I cannot face
The rest of eternity
With each generation's
Take on modernity.

It's old fashioned values
I look for and see -

Your confidence,
Common sense,
Your honesty,
Sincerity,
Your quirkiness
And peacableness.

But most of all
Your peerless take on life
Is what does it for me.

Will you be my wife?

Spiderman, Spiderman,
How you do woo!
And you have such qualities
That draw me to you -

Your patience,
Respect,
Your considerable intellect,
Your gentleness,
Strength of mind -

I could go on at length and find
You could  be my cobweb?
I could  be your fly?

Could you  be the man for me
Until the day I die?

What more can I say than
You may have concurred
That I do things my own way.

So can you guess?

Little Miss Muffet Said Yes!

And do you know what?

As they lay there
On that Le Corbusier chair
Without a care in the world -

And you know it's not novel
To be graphic -

They were not afraid at all.
The third of a trilogy about Little Miss Muffet and Spiderman. If you read the other two this will make even more sense. Little Miss Muffet Meets Spiderman  is first and then An Omega Male's Graphic And Novel Ode To Little Miss Muffet.
