They say that if you lie with dogs
You'll rise with fleas
If that's the case, I'll scratch
As much as I please
If there were such a thing as a crazy dog lady, I'd grow up to be one.

life is fleeting
one moment, you see her eyes
they are fighting to stay bright
and then she's whisked away

the pain consumes her body
she can no longer move
her eyes become dull and tired
but she has been trying
she tried until the very end

beautiful child
you were too wonderful
to remain in this world
that is why the heavens took you
that is what i want to believe

beautiful baby
you are a child of the stars
for you are radiant and ethereal
you will be missed
you will be remembered

this earth has been blessed by your presence
you made my life a happier one
the ground mourns without your weight on it
the sky cries without your happy grin
this world has become a more desolate place

we love you dearly, and i keep a part of you with me
and now that your pain has ended, sweet child
we hope you have finally found peace
my dog died today. i wrote this to alleviate the pain.

the further life progresses
the more it beams stresses
the more I yearn for peace
a road with no holes or grease
a broken siblinghood
I now yearn for Paraclete
my faith in humans deplete.
so bring tonight the gleaming dream
of a furry friend who understood
the erase button of esteem
and so my dreams flow like whipped cream
in the starry starry nights of what would seem
like orange cats make the best friends
tabby kings and big boy mends
the tears of mine dear feline heart
....
or a hustling panting brown eyed brook,
a long nosed lad reads like book
who smells and licks my aching heart.
....
my colourbook waits to be filled with love
of furry lives from each colour above.

They forget pain, forget sorrow,
Then live in the dark, pluck hairs,
For that perfect look of tomorrow,
They sick their dog on the poor, the immigrant,
The downtrodden, the scapegoated. They give no
Honest time to what the less fortunate have in store,
They continue to work themselves for many an hour,
Pick up where they left off happy and content,
That all who oppose them will lose any help
In bringing them down from their cloud of power,
Then they take whatever they were after, laugh,
Chop off any hand or cut off that which "offends,"
That stands in the way and slows them down,
They will get what they are after and be the
Most "handy helpers" helping themselves around.

Born with flowers
Burned with blues
Gone with hours
Lost with truth
Following the dogs
Without any clues
Shouting tears
Obeying the fools

In the dark
We trudge outside
Stifling yawns
Dogs in stride

Down on the dock
The air is cold
Blankets laid out
My breathing controlled

We snuggle together
Then gaze at the sky
The fog drifts in
The stars feel shy

The dogs roughhouse
One is called home
The other two stay
Niko begins to roam

A cold breeze creeps
Turning my nose blue
The horizon has a glow
Will the lights come through?

The air feels so clear
The ocean so calm
The trees are obscured
An owl starts a song

A dog comes near
She licks my face
Then curls by my side
Like a warm embrace

The stars still flicker
Even if shrouded
The lights on horizon
They become clouded

My eyes start to close
My family is here
I’m surrounded by beauty
The lights disappear

I don’t want to leave
The dog is so warm
My sister’s behind me
I feel her small form

She’s curled up tight
Between momma and me
She’s wearing my hat
And complains she can’t see

I don’t want to go
I could stay here forever
Between the dark sea
And the foggy sky weather

Niko starts whining
What a complaintive old boy
But he’s right it’s late
His bed will bring him joy

Reluctantly we rise
And gather our things
Then we trudge back home
Sleeping till tomorrow sings

Oh here I am in the back room while you sing my praises
cohort with the neighborhoods and their dogs.
They spin around you and you laugh a hearty laugh.
An honest laugh.
The laugh of an honest man who does good for good's sake.
I torture myself in the back room and listen to the conversation over some desperate woman and a guitar
as I write about my mother.
How did we meet and why?
I don't think there is an honest answer to it.
I just love you, simply and purely.
The way you are with everyone else.
