My wandering fingertips
Trail up and down my skin
I can’t help but wish
It was your lips again
Nathan Apr 2018
Your hot breath on my skin,
Your arm lovingly around my waist,
Long legs wrapped around mine.

Thighs numb, ruby red buttocks and a big cheesy grin adorns your face.

Thoughts of the night reverberating through your mind.

i had a dream
                            that i died

out if the blue
i wasn't alive,
& they drew
my chalk outline
with pink chalk
on the sidewalk
where my body lied,
delicately draped
across grey pavement
& through the cracked cement
a single yellow dandelion
appeared, in full bloom

Do I love you too much?
Am I supposed to feel this much?
Because every time I think your happiness might be
In the slightest way impeded or stopped,
My heart lies smitten, its beats off and tormented,
The muscle itself not knowing whether
It has enough strength to continue with
The next beat.  What is there to live for
If you are not happy?
If tears fall down your face, who am I to smile?
If your mind is tormented by nightmares,
Who am I to lose myself in daydreams?
If you’re anxious about the world,
Who am I to enter it with confidence?
Because I truly love you, I have no choice
But to put your happiness over my own.
It feels as natural as that favorite shirt,
The perfect opening to a novel,
Sunlight streaming through the window on an unmade bed.  It feels so perfect, so right, that I can’t help
But shed tears when you do,
Experience terror during your nightmares,
To wallow in your uncertainty.
Do I love you too much?
Am I supposed to feel this much?
Because I do.
She loved the sky
Always looking up
Daydreams of the sky and clouds, the moon and the stars kept her happy
She stayed in her daydreams especially when times were bad on earth
Tired of talking to cops seeking protection
and hiding under the bed where the monster would pull her out and hurt her
In these moments, she taught herself to have her mind drift off
She was in the sky
As she was flying up, Earth hit her
As if her wings got clipped
Then one day, she decided she wanted to permanently be in the sky
She cut all ties with Earth
And flew into the sky
She flew past the sky that she always daydreamed of
Heaven had a much more beautiful sky

salt on the streets
like salt in the wounds
of cracked, suburban sidewalks
swelling with trampled memories
of a forgotten yesterday

imagine a world far away
from the chaos of the everyday

won’t you come outside & play?
(everything is gonna be okay)

the world is a snow globe,
          shake it up
          & let's watch it explode

cut me up like a paper snowflake,
did you feel the Earth shake?

I feel like I am living in my head
The outside world just doesn't seem real
It's more like a dream
Or should I say a nightmare?
Who will help me clear my thoughts?
Who will pull me out of despair? Will it be you?
I am all alone wide awake at midnight
Daydreaming about what my life could be if I changed my ways
You should be by my side but you said you needed space
finally I am seeing the light
It's the sun reminding me I haven't slept again
I promise I will treat you right
please don't break my soul again
