I used to view my life like a bird in a cage
That you had the key, so I'd fly in a rage
Scream at you when things got rough
Bite when I never thought you did enough

When the bars broke and I was finally free
Distance and time gave me the chance to see
The vivid silks that served as your bonds
So pretty you missed the chains beyond

Mother and I used to discuss the fabric and style
Father and I would talk about patterns for a while
All you had was this and you gave it all to me
I wish you'd realize this wasn't who I wanted to be

A year underwater and I've been torn clear
Now an invisible wall lies between us, I fear

So I light a candle for the two of you instead
Hold the thought of you close when I go to bed
Press a hand to the window and feel the cold
Remember warmer days and then feel old

Before I go home, there are a few things I have to do
Like run a waterfall to a page instead of to you
Polish the mask I must wear without shame
Else without it, you'd never know my name
When that which is becomes unlearned,
the coherence of the whispers returns.
One to hide
and one to yearn.

When blood's been spilt and death overturned
the call to ro rise is heard, reaffirmed.
One to bind
and one to burn.

When chains are broken to reveal tales adjourned,
the sleeping winds become the storm.
One to rise,
one to abide.

When the weight of chaos takes its toll
on the one that weaved it in the soil.
One to repent,
one to foil.

There is an uncomfortable stillness in my mind
When my eyes you bind
You've attached them to you
As if you tied a knot between us
I frantically try to unravel all the tangles
I get so mad when wherever I go there you are
When I turn a corner
When I enter a room
Anywhere my thoughts may bloom
You are always in the way

You prevent me from all the things I want to say
My limbs are numbed and I can't move
You are to blame for this humiliation
How dare you make me feel this way?
You no longer deserve this power over me
So I revoke your control and take back my will
Instead of removing myself by untangling the mess you've made
I'll snip the strings that trap me
Free at last from that fraying pain
I'll leave you to tangle up in those strings like chains of shame

A rich man:
Possesses amiable greetings,
Sweet thoughts,
Kind words,
And a loving heart!

A rich man:
Has an inquisitive mind,
Charitable habits,
And noble characteristics!

A rich man:
Has a soul that has
Broken the chains of greed,
And soars high in the sky,
Singing songs of freedom!

A rich man’s wealth is measured
By the number of hearts he has captured,
The minds and imaginations he has inspired,
And by the good deeds and traditions he has ingrained!

To let go of the struggle and strife
I wish to spend the rest of my life

Going into the woods
Escaping falsehoods

Dancing in the rains
Freeing myself from all the chains

Watching blue skies
Catching fireflies

Playing with rays of sunlight
Counting stars in the midnight

Admiring the nature
Identifying it as my teacher

To let go of the struggle and strife
I wish to spend the rest of my life

Going into the woods
Escaping falsehoods

Pain is the only thing which is real
It’s hard to find all my wishes are virtual

If thy could have any heavenly wish of love,
It’d be for wings that fly past the clouds above,
With feathers that stick to thy back like gloves.
Thy would show great amounts of authentic glee,
To have been able to float high enough to look down on any tree,
And to finally be able to say that thy is free.
But when thy daydreams of such beautiful futures,
The amount of thy's enthusiasm becomes fewer,
As thy remembers the metal around thy's legs won't get any looser.
I did this in September, but I think I did the thy parts wrong opps

Blackened heart that longed too long
charred to coal in smoking flesh
make ammends within this song
and cease the mind of this unrest.

To these weights do not cling more
the rusting chains that held you back
the sinking bonds beneath your pores
that made your feeling sadly lack.

singed by acute crossroads
        we are marooned through indecision-
pulling our weight
        trying to lighten the load

we bare it as does the earth
and the sun lying on its cot
ready to fall beneath the resting place
the coal of the hearth, warm in rage

our reflections are true in its image
        everything is a mirror
if you are willing to accept what you see.
        our weight falls from pinning

beneath that hibernating skyline
as the sun turns it's red steel cheek.
the chains binding us to our burdens
        fall with that sleeping illuminator

pulling us to the ground, the dirt
turned to mud with our spit,
the slime of creation in the eyes
of the god we have failed.

only once our tounges rest with the rocks
as the sun does with its cot,
may we (in our eyes) look up to the creator,
and ask him to break our chain.
a different tone than my other poems, however, enjoy

As a prisoner of betrayal I still feel the chains around my feet.

Trying so hard to break free.

I need to heal the deep marks in my skin.

I have the man with the key by my side.

He's trying so hard, but the locks are rusty from years in captivity.

Will the locks or the key break first? I wonder.
