A beautiful, poised predator stalks
Composed with a mask of elegance
Secretly, it wants to mock

It waits waits waits for a helpless victim
It finally attacks, the mask momentarily gone
If only the others could see this rabid dog

But, no, the mask returns
The world resumes
And nobody has any concerns

A scary crow
Who loved to put on
Quite the show
With feathers so black
His cloak of darkness
Cold and keen
He'd steal shiny things
That always did glow.
Scary Crow
Morgan Howard Dec 2024
I used to fly
Free as a bird
With no fear of falling

But now I am bound by chains
I have plunged into eternal captivity
Held prisoner by my own mind

The overgrown fetus does not shiver here.
Splayed like a downed bird
head under brittle arms, one eye open to
nothing. Do you see your birthright in the darkness
Dove? Do you swoop in
my wake as you sleep? Yes, dream
your keen searching stare
and your downy talons on my back
parting skin like clouds.
Still you crack and pool
and putrefy on unyielding stone
for wrath is silent without air.

Little bird in the tree
Singing so softly to me
With feathers as bright
As can be and
He sang a sweet tune
Under the blue moon
A joyous sight for all to see.

My colorful parrot is so bright
Who loved to squawk and take flight
And he's my pet bird in
Life and his feathers
Are green and yellow
And ever so bright
And he's the prettiest ever seen and
He brings joy to all in his sight.

bird on the tree
catch it fast before it flees!
its feathers soft like a cloud
its body frail as petals
dear god
protect our animals

bird on the tree
we dont want to see it free
its claws as sharp as thorns
its mind in the sky
thinking why
it breathes
thinking why
it sees
and thinking why
it flies

bird on the tree
it does see
what we did
its eyes are open
and will never be closed again
this poem is totally up for interpretation, but i thought of two different things when i was writing it!!

Little baby robin
With bright red feathers
And he's learning to fly up
In the bright blue sky
And he's a little chirpy friend of mine.
